Among pl.nts,there is considerabl. variation in l.fespan:annual. l.ve l.ss than one year,whereas perennial. l.ve for several.years,with the l.ngest-l.ving perennial.having survived 43,600 *** proposed by the Disposabl. Soma Theory,this l.fespan variation among pl.nts l.kel. refl.cts differential.investment of l.mited energy and nutrient resources,with perennial. investing more energy and nutrients into biomol.cul.r maintenance compared to annual. in order to ensure persistence over mul.ipl. *** differential.investment may be particul.rl. important during periods of exogenous stress,which are known to accel.rate biomol.cul.r *** present study eval.ated this hypothesis using annual.and perennial.fl.x(l.num l.)subjected to two exogenous stressors—increased oxidative stress(i.e.,fol.ar H2O2spraying)and compl.te prol.nged *** chl.rophyl. has been shown to exhibit degradation in response to changes in environmental.conditions,we util.zed changes in chl.rophyl. l.vel. during and after periods of exogenous stress to eval.ate our *** predicted that i)perennial. woul. exhibit a sl.wer rate of chl.rophyl. degradation during exposure to exogenous stressors compared to annual.,and ii)perennial. woul. exhibit a faster rate of chl.rophyl. resynthesis fol.owing such exposure compared to *** l.vel. before,during,and after exposure to both exogenous stressors were measured in two separate trail.,once using image col.ur anal.sis and once using *** chl.rophyl. degradation rates in response to oxidative stress did not differ between annual. and perennial.,contrary to our predictions,chl.rophyl. resynthesis rates fol.owing such exposure were significantl. higher in perennial.,as *** pl.nts were subjected to compl.te prol.nged darkness,chl.rophyl. degradation rates were significantl. l.wer in perennial. than annual.,as predicted;however,when pl.nts were subsequentl. reintroduced to natural.photoperiod,ch

By using risk-adjusted price signal. to transfer responsibil.ty for property-l.vel.fl.od protection and recovery from governments to property owners,fl.od insurance represents a key tenet of the fl.od risk management(FRM)*** Government of Canada has worked with insurers to introduce fl.od insurance for the first time as a part of a broader shift towards FRM to l.mit the growing costs of *** viabil.ty of fl.od insurance in Canada,however,has been questioned by research that disputes the util.ty of purchasing coverage by property *** study tested this assumption by drawing on publ.c opinion survey data to assess factors that infl.ence decisions about the util.ty of *** findings reveal.that Canadians have l.mited knowl.dge of fl.od insurance coverage,exhibit a l.w wil.ingness-to-pay for both insurance and property-l.vel.fl.od protection measures,and expect governments to shoul.er much of the financial.burden of fl.od recovery through disaster assistance.
