Conventional synthetic vascular grafts are associated with significant failure rates due to their mismatched mechanical properties with the native vessel and poor regenerative *** different tissue engineering approaches have been used to improve the biocompatibility of synthetic vascular grafts,it is still crucial to develop a new generation of synthetic grafts that can match the dynamics of native vessel and direct the host response to achieve robust vascular *** size of pores within implanted biomaterials has shown significant effects on macrophage polarization,which has been further confirmed as necessary for efficient vascular formation and ***,we developed biodegradable,autoclavable synthetic vascular grafts from a new polyurethane elastomer and tailored the grafts’interconnected pore sizes to promote macrophage populations with a pro-regenerative phenotype and improve vascular regeneration and patency *** synthetic vascular grafts showed similar mechanical properties to native blood vessels,encouraged macrophage populations with varying M2 to M1 phenotypic expression,and maintained patency and vascular regeneration in a one-month rat carotid interposition model and in a four-month rat aortic interposition *** innovative bioactive synthetic vascular graft holds promise to treat clinical vascular diseases.

Given a family of Calabi-Yau varieties over the punctured disc or over the field of Laurentseries, we show that, after a finite base change, the family can be extended across the origin while keeping the canonical class trivial. More generally, we prove similar extension results for families whose log-canonical class is semi-ample. We use these to show that the Berkovich and essential skeleta agree for smooth varieties over C（（t）） with semi-ample canonical class.

Rheology of rock salt for salt tectonics modeling

Numerical modeling of salt tectonics is a rapidly evolving field; however, the constitutive equations to model long-term rock salt rheology in nature still remain controversial. Firstly, we built a database about the strain rate versus the differential stress through collecting the data from salt creep experiments at a range of temperatures（20–200 ℃） in laboratories. The aim is to collect data about salt deformation in nature, and the flow properties can be extracted from the data in laboratory ***, as an important preparation for salt tectonics modeling, a numerical model based on creep experiments of rock salt was developed in order to verify the specific model using the Abaqus package. Finally, under the condition of low differential stresses, the deformation mechanism would be extrapolated and discussed according to microstructure research. Since the studies of salt deformation in nature are the reliable extrapolation of laboratory data, we simplified the rock salt rheology to dislocation creep corresponding to power law creep（n = 5） with the appropriate material parameters in the salt tectonic modeling.

Geopolymer cements provide an alternative to the Portland cement used to produce structural *** this study,geopolymer cements were used to create concrete having compressive strength in the range of 34 to 83 MPa(5,000-12,000 psi).The mechanical properties of these concrete materials were evaluated to determine the compressive and tensile strengths and immediate and long term elastic *** geopolymer cement concrete(GCC)was found to perform in a similar manner to Portland cement concrete(PCC).Long term shrinkage and creep properties of GCC materials were found to be lower than the values typical for PCC.

Tilted pulse front pumping techniques for efficient terahertz pulse generation

Optical rectification of femtosecond laser pulses has emerged as the dominant technique for generating single-and few-cycle terahertz(THz)*** advent of the tilted pulse front pumping(TPFP)velocity matching technique,proposed and implemented two decades ago,has ushered in significant advancements of these THz sources,which are pivotal in the realm of THz pump-probe and material control experiments,which need THz pulses with microjoule energies and several hundred kV/cm electric field ***,these THz sources are poised to play a crucial role in the realization of THz-driven particle accelerators,necessitating millijoule-level pulses with tens of MV/cm electric field *** has enabled the efficient velocity matching in lithium niobate crystals renowned for their extraordinary high nonlinear ***,its adaptation to semiconductor THz sources has resulted in a two-hundred-times enhancement in conversion *** this comprehensive review,we present the seminal achievements of the past two *** expound on the conventional TPFP setup,delineate its scaling limits,and elucidate the novel generation TPFP configurations proposed to surmount these constraints,accompanied by their preliminary ***,we provide an in-depth analysis of the THz absorption,refractive index,and nonlinear coefficient spectra of lithium niobate and widely used semiconductors employed as THz generators,which dictate their suitability as THz *** underscore the far-reaching advantages of tilted pulse front pumping,not only for LN and semiconductor-based THz sources but also for selected organic crystal-based sources and Yb-laserpumped GaP sources,previously regarded as velocity-matched in the literature.

Catalytic behavior in propane aromatization using GA-MFI catalyst

Ga-Al-MFI samples were synthesized in hydrothermal conditions from gels of composition 1.08CH3NH2- 0.134TPABr-1SiO2-xAl2O3-yGa2O3-40H2O at 175 ℃ for 7 days, with x = 0.005 and 0.0025, y = 0.005, 0,010 and 0.020. The samples were characterized by XRD, BET measurements, thermal analysis （TGA-DTA） atomic absorption and high resolution solid state MAS 27Al and 71Ga NMR measurements. The aromatization of propane was studied as catalytic test. The activity and selectivity of the catalysts were determined for benzene, toluene and xylenes on the one hand and for methane and ethane on the other hand. The most active sample was obtained with the highest Ga/AI ratio. For this sample, the BTX selectivity obtained by aromatization was always higher than the hydrocracking selectivity leading to methane and ethane. The relative amount of toluene was higher than that of benzene and ofxylenes. The samples were deactivated by coke formation that was revealed more severe for the most active sample,

Improved Culture Media for Embryogenic Callus Generation in Sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench]

Many attempts on optimization of sorghum[Sorghum bicolor(L.)Moench]tissue culture induction media have been made,but the culture system remains with some bottlenecks compared to that of other *** study aimed at assessing the suitability of various induction media to produce embryogenic callus(yellow and friable)with high induction rates and reduced phenolic *** six culture medium modifications:3 based on Murashige and Skoog(MS)medium and one each based on Chu N6,Gamborg B5 and 190-2 media respectively were applied in the culture of mature embryos from 10 sorghum *** there was a genotype influence on the attainment of a yellow callus,friability of the callus was determined to be dependent on the culture medium and not the *** strength MS medium with 0.2 mg/l 2,4-D with 2.8 g/l Gelrite®as the gelling agent modified with 1.0 g/l KH_(2)PO_(4),1.0 g/l L-proline,1.0 g/l L-asparagine and 0.16 mg/l CuSO_(4)·5H_(2)O(type E)was found to be the most effective resulting in about 60%yellow coloured callus induction with 25%*** of CuSO_(4)·5H_(2)O,KH_(2)PO_(4),L-proline and L-asparagine significantly reduced the phenolic *** strength MS medium was observed to contribute to quality callus production when compared to full strength MS media modified with the *** half strength MS medium was also observed to suppress phenolic *** 190-2 produced the highest regeneration frequency(40%)among the 3-regeneration media *** results provide information on a suitable sorghum callus induction medium necessary for embryogenesis.

Prolonged intestinal mucosal acidosis is associated with multiple organ failure in human acute pancreatitis: Gastric tonometry revisited

AIM： To evaluate whether multiple determinations of intramucosal pH （pHi） in acute pancreatitis （AP） patients could provide additional information of the disease severity during early hospitalization. METHODS： Twenty-one patients suffering from acute pancreatitis were monitored by gastric tonometry in the first 72 h after hospital admission. RESULTS： In the survivor group （n = 15） the initially low phi values returned to normal level （pHi ≥ 7.32） within 48 h （median pHi： d 1： 7.21; d 2： 7.32; d 3： 7.33）. In contrast, pHi values in the non-survivor group n = 6） were persistently either below or in the low normal range （median pHi 7.12; 7.12; 7.07 respectively）, but pHi differences between the two groups reached significance only after 24 h （P 〈 0.01）. Mucosal acidosis detected at any time during the monitored period was associated with the emergence of single or multiple organ dysfunction （P 〈 0.01）. CONCLUSION： Prolonged gastric mucosal acidosis was associated with remote organ dysfunction and failure in Acute Pancreatitis, however, correlation with the fatal outcome became significant only 24 h after admission. Due to its non-invasive nature gastric tonometry may supplement the pro-inflammatory markers to achieve a multi-faceted monitoring of the disease.
