Background:Tomato is the second most important vegetable around the *** processing of the fruit generates waste such as damaged tomatoes,pulp,skin,seeds,and tomato-derived products that contain valuable biomolecules with functional and technological *** fruit extracts,mainly from waste,possess bioactive molecules,such as lycopene,with important biological applications in some *** and approach:The objective of this review is to analyze,discuss and synthesize the technologies that have been used for the extraction and recovery of the main lycopene present in tomato *** revised methodologies expose valuable results in the number of carotenoids recovered through the application of solvents,microwave-assisted,ultrasound-assisted,enzymatic-assisted,extraction at high pressure,and supercritical ***,the challenges continue concerning the quality of extracted compounds,economic accessibility,industrial reproducibility,and environmental *** findings and conclusions:The tomato waste contains important bioactive molecules,which are of interest in the food,pharmacological,biotechnological,and cosmetic *** information revised in this contribution pretends to support new research lines concerning the formulation of novel tomato waste bio-based functional ***,it is necessary to further analyze the new extraction and recovery conditions to keep the functional properties of this by-product.

Objective:To evaluate whether hypoxia inducible factor(HIF-1α) targeting pharmacological drugs,echinomycin,resveratrol and CdCl_2 which inhibit HIF-1α stimulation,and mimosine,which enhances the stability of HIF-1α present antileishmanial ***:The leishmanicidal effect of drugs was evaluated in mouse macrophages and Balb/c mouse model for cutaneous ***:Resveratrol and CdCl_2 reduced the parasite load [IC50,(27.3±2.25) μm and(24.8±0.95) μm,respectively].The IC50 value of echinomycin was(22.7±7.36) nm and mimosine did not alter the parasite load in primary *** macrophage viability IC50 values for resveratrol,echinomycin and CdCl_2 and mimosine were >40 μm,>100 nm,> 200 μm and>2 000 μm,*** vivo no differences between cutaneous lesions from control,resveratrol-and echinomycin-treated Balb/c mice were ***:Resveratrol,echinomycin and CdCl_2 reduce parasite survival in *** HIF-1α targeting pharmacological drugs require further study to more fully determine their anti-Leishmania potential and their role in therapeutic strategies.

The purpose of the research was to examine the relationship between family income and parents’school choice in Tanzania, a case of Dar es Salam Region, at Ilala District;the research was guided by the following research questions:What is the household income or level of Household Consumption per month to the Tanzanian families? What are the relationship between family income and parents’school choice? What are the factors influencing the performance of public, private and religion primary schools?The study adopted both quantitative and qualitative research approaches. These were used to make possible to gather more data and test research hypotheses and also were used in order to measure the ideas, opinions, beliefs, and experiences of respondents in connection to relationship between family income and parents’school choice in Tanzania. Rational choice theory was used as guidance of the study. Survey research technique, stratified sampling and purposive sampling were employed during the study. Data were collected by using questionnaires and interview guide questions and sample size of 130 was used during the study. Validity and reliability of the data were tested by KmO=67.3%, and Cronbach’s Alpha=95.4%. Data were analyzed by using SPSS version 20 and excel microsoft application was used to edit *** study concludes that average house income have high impact on the school choices by parents as it was observed there is strong relationship explained by R=75%. These findings give a concluding remark that most of medium and high income parents’choices private or religion schools for their children although there are significance differences in perception between to their choices. The researcher also recommends that the average income of the household determine the school choices by parents. Families with medium and high income are like to choice the schools which meet standards in performance and also school choice by parents should be based on the key performance in

为应对新冠肺炎疫情而采取的静态管理措施也伴随着若干问题。本研究关注封闭管理过程中,城市绿地空间的缺乏对城市居民的影响,包括生理、心理、社会和经济等方面。尽管城市已建有公园、广场等各类绿地以及各种游憩空间,然而当城市处于封闭管理时,上述空间的重要性将进一步提高,成为居民生活不可缺少的一部分,在疫情期间承担了更加复杂的功能;本研究的内涵在于了解上述空间是否为应对疫情做好了准备,能否与其在封闭管理时的重要性相匹配。继而,本研究旨在将多功能叠加应用于城市绿地规划实践中。与此同时,本研究选择生态系统服务作为多功能叠加的理论基础,原因是其提供了目前为止最为合理和全面的阐释,包括生态系统组分功能及其多重分析方法。简而言之,城市绿地需要多功能复合。基于上述认识,本研究立足于连接已规划与未规划的城市空间以建立绿色廊道,分析城市空间和自然空间共存的基础,根据不同现状进行适应、转变和设计以重塑城市环境,为社会带来重要的复合效益。研究通过辨析相关理念,试图解答这一问题:为应对新冠肺炎等健康危机而采取的封闭管理背景之下,我们应如何基于多功能叠加的理论基础,通过不同的方法步骤构建城市绿色廊道?城市绿色走廊构建的基础基于封闭管理中居民对城市绿化的社会、经济需求。同时城市绿色廊道作为对城市更新设计的实践,将作为病毒抵抗系统一个不可或缺的部分,保护其中的居民并保障应急服务和供应的正常运转。以上研究目标在对里奥班巴市的分析和判断中进行实例验证。研究关注案例城市的社会和结构方面,如河流、灌渠、主要道路、林荫道以及基于居民和研究人员经验判断的潜在廊道,借助生态网络分析工具——引力模型工具(Arc GIS)将城市内外的重要绿色节点项链,形成基于最低成本路径的绿色廊道模型。最后,建立基于社会分析、经验分析和生态分析的对比方法进行廊道的多功能叠加,即将上述所有分析特征结合形成整体分析,借助mapping分析的方法选择具有最佳引力系数的走廊来恢复和保护指定的栖息地节点。在社会分析中,本研究调查结果显示里奥班巴市缺乏绿地和游憩空间;百分之七十的受访者在疫情期间依然继续使用城市绿地空间,即使这些区域并未做好应对这一问题的准备或设计,人民仍然认为绿地空间相较于疫情爆发之前对心理和生理健康有着更为重要的作用;百分之五十八的受访者在实行封闭管理之后更偏爱与前往公园或自然保护区,对于自然区域有着更多的关注。此外,研究通过生态网络设计分析,在城市和近郊生成了七条引力系数最高的重要廊道来解决城市绿化空间不足的问题,随后设置三种不同的场景以表现这些廊道的主要生态特征,例如线形、边界效应、资源的一致性、连通性、可持续性、以及最重要的多功能叠加。研究从社会和生态两方面提出了相关展望。在社会方面,研究认为城市绿地可达性和资源分配的公平非常重要,其中包含自然资源、医疗资源、安全资源以及其他有助于提升当地经济的资源,构建绿色廊道可以借助于对社区不同的部门进行干预以帮助最为弱势的群体。在生态方面,研究综合生态过程、经济功能、社会文化功能、历史功能和美学功能提出多功能叠加。社会和生态方面的主张最终回归到城市中的绿色廊道。在封闭管理的不同阶段,居民在这些区域中也有两种不同的活动方式。从这个角度上,本研究对里奥班巴市绿地和游憩空间的重新规划和设计具有积极意义,通过空间重组策略,建立必要的健康节点、安全节点和游憩节点,避免人群在城市中心或是诸如市场、公园和广场的过分聚集。结合构建的绿廊空间,作为城市环境系统提升的重要组成部分,诸如交通、防洪、地区和区域经济支持等关键服务会得到改进。

Geochemistry of Potentially Toxic Elements in Soil and Sediments of a Tanzanian Small-Scale Gold mining Area

Small-scale gold mining is linked to significant environmental pollution by potentially toxic elements (PTEs). However, research on the pollution caused by such mining activities remains insufficient especially in developing countries. In the present study, a systematic investigation assessed the pollution and level of ecological risk of PTEs in soil and stream sediments in an active small scale gold mining area of Isanga, in Nzega, Tanzania. Samples amounting to 16 soil and 20 sediment were gathered from the study area and analyzed for five PTEs concentrations (As, Cd, Cr, Hg and Pb) using the AAS method. The contamination level and ecological risk were assessed using several pollution indices. The results suggest that the assessed environmental systems of the Isanga mining area and its vicinities are lowly contaminated by PTEs and have a low potential to pose ecological risks. Hg and Cd with mean concentrations of 0.09 mg/kg and 0.26 mg/kg respectively were found to be the most enriched PTEs in soil, compared to their average continental crust concentrations (0.056 mg/kg and 0.102 mg/kg respectively). The levels of the evaluated PTEs in the study area are susceptible to increase over time if proactive steps are not taken to control mining and waste disposal activities.

Prevalence and Factors Associated with mortality among Chest Injury Patients Admitted at muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Introduction: Accidents represent a significant proportional of non-communicable disease in the current century, and chest injury is common. However, management and outcome of these injuries is poor in low resource setting like Tanzania. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and factors associated with mortality among chest injury patients at a tertiary level health facility in Tanzania. method: A prospective Cross-Sectional study of chest injuries among trauma patients attended at muhimbili National Hospital between September 2019 and February 2020. Results: A total of 282 trauma patients were seen, out of which 51/282 (18.1%) sustained chest injury. Road Traffic Crashes were the leading cause of chest injury 41/51 (80.4%). majority 17/51 (33.3%) presented with lung contusion, followed by pneumohemothorax and rib fractures each 8/51 (15.7%). most of the patients 27/51 (52.9%) were managed by tube thoracostomy and 42.1% conservatively. mortality was 11/51 (21.6%). Independent factors associated with mortality were: Associated injuries (Odds Ratio (OR) 0.07, 95% CI 0.01 - 1.16, p = 0.02), multimodal analgesia (Odds Ratio (OR) 0.22, 95% CI 0.05 - 0.98, p = 0.05), more than 24 hours to treatment (Odds Ratio (OR) 5.53, 95% CI 1.25 - 24.3, p = 0.02), Bilateral chest involvement (Odds Ratio (OR) 4.61, 95% CI 1.12 - 18.7, p = 0.02), and Invasive ventilation (Odds Ratio (OR) 31.5, 95% CI 4.47 - 53.8, p = 0.00). Conclusion: Chest injuries prevail significantly among trauma patients in Tanzania, mostly due to road traffic crashes. Injury preventive measures especially for road traffic crashes need to be reinforced, and establishment of chest injury management protocol in Tanzania.
