Surgical care quality and oncologic outcome after D2 gastrectomy for gastric cancer

AIM: To examine the quality of surgical care and longterm oncologic outcome after D2 gastrectomy for gastric ***: From 1999 to 2008, a total of 109 consecutive patients underwent D2 gastrectomy without routine pancreaticosplenectomy in a multimodal setting at our institution. Oncologic outcomes together with clinical and histopathologic data were analyzed in relation to the type of surgery performed. Staging was carried out according to the Union for International Cancer Control criteria of 2002. Patients were followedup for five years at the outpatient clinic. The primary measure of outcome was long-term survival with the quality of surgery as a secondary outcome measure. Clinical data were retrospectively collected from the patient records, and causes of death were ob.ained from national ***: A total of 109 patients(58 men) with a mean age of 67.4 ± 11.2 years underwent total gastrectomy or gastric resection with D2 lymph node dissection. The tumor stage distrib.tion was as follows: stageⅠ,(27/109) 24.8%; stage Ⅱ,(31/109) 28.4%; stage Ⅲ,(41/109) 37.6%; and stage Ⅳ,(10/109) 9.2%. Forty patients(36.7%) received chemotherapy or chemoradiotherapy. The five-year overall survival rate for all 109 patients was 45.0%, and was 47.1% for the 104 patients treated with curative R0 resection. The five-year disease-specific survival rates were 53.0% and 55.8%, respectively. This study investigated the effects of dietary replacement of soyb.an meal(Sb.)with graded levels of pea seeds(PS)on the gastrointestinal function of *** of 2 pea varieties,a colored-flowered variety and a white-flowered variety(CFP and WFP,respectively)were fed to 56-d-old b.rds for 8 wk.A total of 539 female Hyb.id turkeys were allocated to 7 groups,each group consisted of 7 pens with 11 b.rds per *** experiment had a 2-factorial design,with 3 dietary inclusion levels of PS(100,200 and 300 g/kg)and 2 pea varieties(CFP and WFP).The control group(diets without PS)was compared with CFP and WFP treatments b. simple contrast *** comparison with CFP seeds,WFP seeds contained 7-fold less tannins(0.67 vs.4.66 g/kg)and less non-starch polysaccharides(NSP,117.8 vs.132.7 g/kg),b.t more trypsin inhib.tors(1.34 vs.0.98 g/kg)and starch(489 vs.455 g/kg).A rise in the PS content of diets from 100 to 200 and 300 g/kg increased the weight of the small intestine(P=0.031)and the dry matter(DM)content of intestinal digesta(P=0.001),b.t it had no effect on the pH of *** the highest PS content differentiated the concentrations of short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)in the small intestinal digesta(WFP>CFP,P=0.008),whereas PS did not cause any changes in the morphological parameters of the small intestinal *** dietary inclusion of PS had no influence on the levels of acetate,b.tyrate,putrefactive SCFAs or total SCFAs in the cecal *** from increasing the activities of b.glucosidase(P=0.017)and b.galactosidase(P=0.025),pea varieties did not affect the activities of the analyzed cecal microb.al ***,CFP seeds decreased the DM content(P=0.041)and increased the pH of cecal digesta,compared with WFP seeds(P=0.013).The results of this study,pointing to a few differences in the functional parameters of the small intestine and cecum,indicate that tannins are not a factor differentiating the suitab.lity of CFP and WFP seeds in the nutrition of f

In the presence of a series of small organic molecules including 1, 4 dioxane, DMF, isopropanol, rDNA human insulin, mutants A21 Asn→Ser and (A21 Asn→Ser, b.7 Thr→Arg) human insulin have b.en crystallized in b.th Zn 2+ containing and Zn 2+ free system. Preliminary crystallographic analyses show that they all b.long to T 3R 3 structural type. The results indicate that, except phenolic derivatives and lyotropic anions reported b.fore, some other appropriate organic molecules can also induce the T 3R 3 conformation transition of insulin.

Sweden has witnessed an increase in the rates of sexual crimes including *** of who the offenders of these crimes are is therefore of importance for *** aimed to study characteristics of individuals convicted of rape,aggravated rape,attempted rape or attempted aggravated rape(ab.reviated rape+),against a woman≥18years of age,in *** using information from the Swedish Crime Register,offenders b.tween 15 and 60years old convicted of rapeþb.tween 2000 and 2015 were *** on sub.tance use disorders,previous criminality and psychiatric disorders were retrieved from Swedish population-b.sed registers,and Latent Class Analysis(LCA)was used to identify classes of rapeþoffenders.A total of 3039 offenders were included in the analysis.A major-ity of them were immigrants(n=1800;59.2%)of which a majority(n=1451;47.7%)were b.rn outside of *** LCA identified two classes:Class A-low offending class(LOC),and Class b.high offending class(HOC).While offenders in the LOC had low rates of previous criminality,psychiatric disorders and sub.tance use disorders,those included in the HOC had high rates of previous criminality,psychiatric disorders and sub.tance use *** HOC may b. composed b. more“traditional”criminals prob.b.y known b. the police,the LOC may represent individuals not previously known b. the *** two separated classes,as well as our finding in regard to a majority of the offenders b.ing immi-grants,warrants further studies that take into account the contextual characteristics among these offenders.

In this letter, a comparison b.tween three types （two linear and one nonlinear） of models of skeletal muscle stiffness is shown. Results are compared with experimental data for b.ceps b.achii in the case of muscle stretching and with the Hill equation for a b.ological muscle. It is shown that results for nonlinear stiffness model in case of length-force relationship fits to the experimental data.

The fab.ication of b.t-patterned media （b.M） is crucial for new types of hard disk drives. The development of methods for the production of b.M is progressing rapidly. Conventional lithography reaches the limit regarding lateral resolution, and new routes are needed. In this study, we mainly focus on the dependence of the size and shape of magnetic nanodots on the Ar＋-ion etching duration, using silica dots as masks. Two-dimensional （2D） arrays of magnetic nanostructures are created using silica-filled dib.ock-copolymer micelles as templates. After the self-assemb.y of the micelles into 2D hexagonal arrays, the polymer shell is removed, and the SiO2 cores are utilized to transform the morphology into a （Co/Pt）2-multilayer via ion etching under normal incidence. The numb.r of preparation steps is kept as low as possib.e to simplify the formation of the nanostructure arrays. High-resolution in situ grazing-incidence small-angle X-ray scattering （GISAXS） investigations are performed during the Ar＋-ion etching to monitor and control the fab.ication process. The in situ investigation provides information on how the etching conditions can b. improved for further ex situ experiments. The GISAXS patterns are compared with simulations. We ob.erve that the dots change in shape from cylindrical to conical during the etching process. The magnetic b.havior is studied b. utilizing the magneto-optic Kerr effect. The Co/Pt dots exhib.t different magnetic b.haviors depending on their size, interparticle distance, and etching time. They show ferromagnetism with an easy axis of magnetization perpendicular to the film. A systematic dependence of the coercivitv on the dot size is ob.erved.

The Upper Carb.niferous-Lower Permian （Upper Pennsylvanian-Asselian） Tob.a Formation is exposed in the Salt and Trans Indus ranges of Pakistan. The formation exhib.ts an alluvial plain （alluvial fan-piedmont alluvial plain） facies association in the Salt Range and Khisor Range. In addition, a stream flow facies association is restricted to the eastern Salt Range. The alluvial plain facies association is comprised of clast-supported massive conglomerate （Gmc）, diamictite （Dm） facies, and massive sandstone （Sm） iithofacies whereas the stream flow-dominated alluvial plain facies association includes fine-grained sandstone and sUtstone （Fss）, fining upwards peb.ly sandstone （Sf）, and massive mudstone （Fro） lithofacies. The lack of glacial signatures （particularly glacial grooves and striations） in the deposits in the Tob.a Formation, which are, in contrast, present in their time-equivalent and palaeogeographically nearb. strata of the Arab.an peninsula, e.g. the Al Khlata Formation of Oman and Unayzah b.memb.r of the Sandi Arab.a, suggests a pro-to periglacial, i.e. glaciofluvial depositional setting for the Tob.a Formation. The sedimentology of the Tob.a Formation attests that the Salt Range, Pakistan, occupied a palaeogeographic position just b.yond the maximum glacial extent during Upper Pennsylvanian-Asselian time.
