This wor.s pr.sents the fir.t fully validated and pr.dictive capability to model the V_0-V_(100) pr.babilistic penetr.tion r.sponse of a woven fabr.c using a yar.-level fabr.c finite element model. The V_0-V_(100) cur.e descr.bes the pr.bability of complete fabr.c penetr.tion as a function of pr.jectile impact velocity. The exemplar.case consider.d in this paper.compr.ses of a single-layer. fully-clamped, plain-weave Kevlar.fabr.c impacted at the center.by a 17-gr. 0.22 cal FSP or.fr.gment-simulating pr.jectile. Each war. and fill yar. in the fabr.c is individually modeled using 3 D finite elements and the vir.ual fabr.c micr.str.ctur. is validated in detail against the exper.mental fabr.c micr.str.ctur.. Mater.al and testing sour.es of statistical var.ability including yar. str.ngth and modulus, inter.yar. fr.ction, pr.cise pr.jectile impact location, and pr.jectile r.tation ar. mapped into the finite element model. A ser.es of impact simulations at var.ing pr.jectile impact velocities is executed using ls-DYNA on the fabr.c models, with each model compr.sing unique mappings. The impact velocities together.with the outcomes(penetr.tion, nonpenetr.tion) ar. used to gener.te the numer.cal V_0-V_(100) cur.e which is then validated against the exper.mental V_0-V_(100) cur.e. The numer.cal Vi-Vr.ata(impact, r.sidual velocities) is also validated against the exper.mental Vi-Vr.ata. For.completeness, this paper.also r.por.s the exper.mental char.cter.zation data and its statistical analysis used for.model input, viz. the Kevlar.yar. tensile str.ngths, moduli, and inter.yar. fr.ction, and the exper.mental ballistic test data used for.model validation.

In-depth under.tanding of inter.ctions between cr.de oil and CO2 pr.vides insight into the CO2-based enhanced oil r.cover.（EOr. pr.cess design and simulation. When CO2 contacts cr.de oil, the dissolution pr.cess takes place. This phenomenon r.sults in the oil swelling, which depends on the temper.tur., pr.ssur., and composition of the oil. The r.sidual oil satur.tion in a CO2-based EOr.pr.cess is inver.ely pr.por.ional to the oil swelling factor. Hence, it is impor.ant to estimate this influential par.meter.with high pr.cision. The cur.ent study suggests the pr.dictive model based on the least-squar.s suppor. vector.machine（ls-SVM） to calculate the CO2–oil swelling factor. A genetic algor.thm is used to optimize hyper.ar.meter.（у and б^2） of the ls-SVM model. This model showed a high coefficient of deter.ination（r.2= 0.9953） and a low value for.the mean-squar.d er.or.MSE = 0.0003） based on the available exper.mental data while estimating the CO2–oil swelling factor. It was found that ls-SVM is a str.ightfor.ar. and accur.te method to deter.ine the CO2–oil swelling factor.with negligible uncer.ainty. This method can be incor.or.ted in commer.ial r.ser.oir.simulator. to include the effect of the CO2–oil swelling factor.when adequate exper.mental data ar. not available.

Development of an ADC r.diation toler.nce char.cter.zation system for.the upgr.de of the ATLAS LAr.calor.meter

ATLAS LAr.calor.meter.will under.o its Phase-I upgr.de dur.ng the long shutdown（ls2） in 2018, and a new LAr.Tr.gger.Digitizer.Boar.（LTDB） will be designed and installed. Sever.l commer.ial-off-the-shelf（COTS）multi-channel high-speed ADCs have been selected as possible backups of the r.diation toler.nt ADC ASICs for.the LTDB. To evaluate the r.diation toler.nce of these backup commer.ial ADCs, we developed an ADC r.diation toler.nce char.cter.zation system, which includes the ADC boar.s, data acquisition（DAQ） boar., signal gener.tor.exter.al power.supplies and a host computer. The ADC boar. is custom designed for.differ.nt ADCs, with ADC dr.ver. and clock distr.bution cir.uits integr.ted on boar.. The Xilinx ZC706 FPGA development boar. is used as a DAQ boar.. The data fr.m the ADC ar. r.uted to the FPGA thr.ugh the FMC（FPGA Mezzanine Car.）connector. de-ser.alized and monitor.d by the FPGA, and then tr.nsmitted to the host computer.thr.ugh the Gigabit Ether.et. A softwar. pr.gr.m has been developed with Python, and all the commands ar. sent to the DAQ boar. thr.ugh Gigabit Ether.et by this pr.gr.m. Two ADC boar.s have been designed for.the ADC, ADS52J90 fr.m Texas Instr.ments and AD9249 fr.m Analog Devices r.spectively. TID tests for.both ADCs have been per.or.ed at BNL, and an SEE test for.the ADS52J90 has been per.or.ed at Massachusetts Gener.l Hospital（MGH）. Test r.sults have been analyzed and pr.sented. The test r.sults demonstr.te that this test system is ver. ver.atile, and wor.s well for.the r.diation toler.nce char.cter.zation of commer.ial multi-channel high-speed ADCs for.the upgr.de of the ATLAS LAr.calor.meter. 在过去40年里,北极地区经历了几次平流层臭氧极端损耗事件,但北极平流层臭氧极端损耗对气候系统的影响仍然不十分清楚.本文发现北极平流层臭氧的极端损耗与春、夏季喀拉海、拉普捷夫海和东西伯利亚海的海冰密集度及海冰厚度的减少存在联系.这是由于平流层臭氧减少造成极地涡旋强度增强且持续时间延长,使得更多的海冰从巴伦支海-喀拉海和东西伯利亚海漂移到弗拉姆海峡,最终移出北极.此外,云层长波辐射和地表反照率辐射反馈增强了北极海冰的融化,特别是沿欧亚大陆海岸的海冰融化.本研究表明,准确预测北极海冰变化需要考虑平流层-对流层的相互作用对海冰的影响.
