Vegetation Geo-climatic Zonation in the Rocky Mountains, Northern Utah, USA

We developed a vegetation geo-climatic zonation incorporating the zonal concept, gradient and discriminant analysis in Wasatch Range, northern Utah, USA. Mountainous forest ecosystems were sampled and described by vegetation, physiographic features and soil properties. The Snowpack Telemetry and National Weather Service Cooperative Observer Program weather station networks were used to approximate the climate of sample plots. We analysed vegetation and environmental data using clustering, ordination, classification, and ANOVA techniques to reveal environmental gradients affecting a broad vegetation pattern and discriminate these gradients. The specific objective was to assess and classify the response of the complex vegetation to those environmental factors operating at a coarse-scale climatic level. Ordination revealed the dominant role of regional, altitude-based climate in the area. Based on vegetation physiognomy, represented by five tree species, climatic data and taxonomic classification of zonal soils, we identified two vegetation geo-climatic zones:(1) a montane zone, with Rocky Mountain juniper and Douglas-fir; and(2) a subalpine zone, with Engelmann spruce and subalpine fir as climatic climax species. Aspen was excluded from the zonation due to its great ecological amplitude. We found significant differences between the zones in regional climate and landformgeomorphology/soils. Regional climate was represented by elevation, precipitation, and air and soil temperatures; and geomorphology by soil types. This coarse-scale vegetation geo-climatic zonation provides a framework for a comprehensive ecosystem survey, which is missing in the central Rocky Mountains of the United States. An analytical model to estimate the time delay to reach spontaneous ignition considering heat loss in oil reservoirs

During air injection into an oil reservoir, an oxidation reaction generates some heat to raise the reservoir temperature. When the reservoir temperature reaches an ignition temperature, spontaneous ignition occurs. There is a time delay from the injection to ignition. There are mixed results regarding the feasibility of spontaneous ignition in real-field projects and in laboratory experiments. No analytical model is available in the literature to estimate the oxidation time required to reach spontaneous ignition with heat *** paper discusses the feasibility of spontaneous ignition from theoretical points and experimental and field project observations. An analytical model considering heat loss is proposed. Analytical models with and without heat loss investigate the factors that affect spontaneous ignition. Based on the discussion and investigations, we find that it is more difficult for spontaneous ignition to occur in laboratory experiments than in oil reservoirs; spontaneous ignition is strongly affected by the initial reservoir temperature, oil activity, and heat loss; spontaneous ignition is only possible when the initial reservoir temperature is high, the oil oxidation rate is high, and the heat loss is low.

BACKGROUND Impressive survival outcome of our previous study in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)patients undergoing yttrium-90 glass microspheres transarterial radioembolization(TARE)with/without sorafenib according to individuals’disease burden,i.e.,intrahepatic tumor load(IHT)and adverse disease features(ADFs)might partly be confounded by other treatments and underlying hepatic ***,a dedicated study focusing on treatment response and assessment of failure patterns might be a way to improve treatment outcome in addition to patient selection based on the disease *** To assess the tumor response,disease control and patterns of disease progression following TARE with/without sorafenib in unresectable HCC *** This retrospective study was conducted in successful TARE procedures with available pre-and post-treatment imaging studies(n=169).Three treatment subgroups were(1)TARE only(TARE_alone)for IHT≤50%without ADFs,i.e.,macrovascular invasion,extrahepatic disease(EHD)and infiltrative/ill-defined HCC(n=63);(2)TARE with sorafenib(TARE_sorafenib)for IHT>50%and/or presence of ADFs(n=81);and(3)TARE only for patients who could not receive sorafenib due to contraindication or intolerance(TARE_no_sorafenib)(n=25).Objective response rate(ORR;consisted of complete response(CR)and partial response(PR)),disease control rate(DCR;consisted of CR,PR and stable disease)and failure patterns of treated,intrahepatic and extrahepatic sites were assessed using the modified response evaluation criteria in solid *** to progression(TTP)was calculated from TARE to the first radiologic progression at any site using Kaplan-Meier *** of prognostic factors for TTP using the univariate Kaplan-Meier method and multivariate Cox proportional hazard model were performed in major population subgroups,TARE_alone and TARE_*** The median radiologic follow-up time was 4.4 mo(range 0.5-48.8).In treated area,ORR was highest in

本文主要研究中国医疗的需求和资源分配。正如许多经济学家研究的领域—样,医疗行业也类似。对于任何一个国家的发展而言,医疗保健政策的实施和分配医药资源的过程都是至关重要的。研究表明,一个国家的健康水准与其生产力具有高度的相关性随着人类的发展和国家的融合性的增加,每一个国家都面临如何有效和公平的分配医疗资源这个棘手的问题。在2000年和2005年之间,中国政府制定了一系列医疗改革的方案。虽然这些改革意味着一些进步,但是本文认为这些改革已经无法满足日益增长的医疗保健需求和日益增长的医疗资源不均衡现象,并且对于未来人口增长的发展也是不可持续的。使用数据的事件序列数据,我们证明了美国和中国公民对于社会安全系统的信任程度不同。美国公民由于对于国家医疗和教育系统的充分信任,从而很少储蓄。但是中国公民由于缺乏对社会安全系统的信心而将大量的收入储备起来,以备用于教育和医疗。在评估中国医疗卫生系统之前,本文讨论了自1960年以来的美国医疗卫生系统的失败之举,中国医疗的改革者可从中吸取教训和经验。本文主要分为三个部分,分别侧重于中国医疗卫生系统的三个不同的方面。第一部分主要侧重于两个问题.为什么中国两国的消费者对待社会安全系统的信心有如此大的差异?医疗不平等的问题在中国各省市之间的存在差异吗,差异有多大?本文第二部分试图利用计量经济学的方法量化健康生活方式的选择和医疗的投资之间的关系。最后,本文的第三部分提供了来自发达国家的成功和失败的经验,如医疗改革如何解决弹性需求以及其不均衡现象。并且使用横截面数据和时间序列数据,利用功能的需求分析医疗需求。使用R统计分析平台进行统计分析发现,一个人的平均寿命与医疗改革的范围之外的相关因素。这些因素包括吸烟,可支配收入,获得的医疗保健,空气质量和教育水平。此外,本研究得出结论,评价医疗改革成功最好的办法是消费者对于安全卫士系统的信心,当然这不适用于发达国家,因为中国仍然是出口导向型经济向消费型经济的过渡的国家。

LSTM Network-Based Adaptation Approach for Dynamic Integration in Intelligent End-Edge-Cloud Systems

Edge computing, which migrates compute-intensive tasks to run on the storage resources of edge devices, efficiently reduces data transmission loss and protects data privacy. However, due to limited computing resources and storage capacity, edge devices fail to support real-time streaming data query and processing. To address this challenge, first, we propose a long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network-based adaptive approach in the intelligent end-edge-cloud system. Specifically, we maximize the Quality of Experience (QoE) of users by automatically adapting their resource requirements to the storage capacity of edge devices through an event mechanism. Second, to reduce the uncertainty and non-complete adaption of the edge device towards the user’s requirements, we use the LSTM network to analyze the storage capacity of the edge device in real time. Finally, the storage features of the edge devices are aggregated to the cloud to re-evaluate the comprehensive capability of the edge devices and ensure the fast response of the user devices during the dynamic adaptation matching process. A series of experimental results show that the proposed approach has superior performance compared with traditional centralized and matrix decomposition based approaches.

Stripe rust,caused by Puccinia striiformis ***(Pst),is a devastating disease in wheat *** and characterizing new resistance genes/QTL is crucial for wheat breeding *** this study,we fine-mapped and characterized a stripe rust resistance gene,YRAYH,on chromosome arm 5BL in the Chinese wheat landrace Anyuehong(AYH).Evaluations of stripe rust response to prevalent Chinese Pst races in near-isogenic lines derived from a cross of Anyuehong and Taichung 29 showed that YrAYH conferred a high level of resistance at all growth *** mapping using a large segregating population of 9748 plants,narrowed the YRAYH locus to a 3.7 Mb interval on chromosome arm 5BL that included 61 annotated *** analysis of two NIL pairs identified 64 upregulated differentially expressed genes(DEGs)in the resistant NILs(NILs-R).Annotations indicated that many of these genes have roles in plant disease resistance *** a combined approach of fine-mapping and transcriptome sequencing,we identified a serine/threonine-protein kinase SRPK as a candidate gene underlying YrAYH.A unique 25 bp insertion was identified in the NILs-R compared to the NILs-S and previously published wheat *** InDel marker was developed and co-segregated with *** trait evaluation of the NILs suggested that YrAYH not only reduces the impact of stripe rust but was also associated with a gene that increases plant height and spike length.

Iso-propagation vortices with OAM-independent size and divergence toward future faster optical communications

Recognized in the 1990s, vortex beams' ability to carry orbital angular momentum(OAM) has significantly contributed to applications in optical manipulation and high-dimensional classical and quantum information communication. However, inherent diffraction in free space results in the inevitable expansion of beam size and divergence contingent upon the OAM, limiting vortex beams' applicability in areas such as spatial mode multiplexing communication, fiber-optic data transmission, and particle manipulation. These domains necessitate vortex beams with OAM-independent propagation *** introduce iso-propagation vortices(IPVs), vortex beams characterized by OAM-independent propagation behavior, achieved through precise radial index configuration of Laguerre–Gaussian beams. IPVs display notable transmission dynamics, including a reduced quality factor, resilience post-damage, and decreased and uniform modal scattering under atmospheric turbulence. Their distinctive attributes render IPVs valuable for potential applications in imaging, microscopy, optical communication, metrology, quantum information processing, and light–matter interactions. Notably, within optical communication, the case study suggests that the IPV basis, due to its OAM-independent propagation behavior, provides access to a more extensive spectrum of data channels compared with conventional spatial multiplexing techniques, consequently augmenting information capacity.
