Single-layer MoS_(2)produced by mechanical exfoliation is usually connected to thicker and multilayer *** show a facile laser trimming method to insulate single-layer MoS_(2)regions from thicker *** demonstrate,through electrical characterization,that the laser trimming method can be used to pattern single-layer MoS_(2)channels with regular geometry and electrically disconnected from the thicker *** photocurrent microscope further confirms that in the as-deposited flake(connected to a multilayer area)most of the photocurrent is being generated in the thicker flake *** laser trimming,scanning photocurrent microscopy shows how only the single-layer MoS_(2)region contributes to the photocurrent *** presented method is a direct-write and lithography-free(no need of resist or wet chemicals)alternative to reactive ion etching process to pattern the flakes that can be easily adopted by many research groups fabricating devices with MoS_(2) and similar twodimensional materials.

Anion exchange membrane(AEM)water electrolyzers are promising energy devices for the production of clean hydrogen from ***,the lack of active and robust electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)severely impedes the development of this *** this study,a ternary layered double hydroxide(LDH)OER electrocatalyst(NiFeCo-LDH)is developed for high-performance AEM alkaline seawater *** AEM alkaline seawater electrolyzer catalyzed by the NiFeCo LDH shows high seawater electrolysis performance(0.84 A/cm^(2)at 1.7 Vcell)and high hydrogen production efficiency(77.6%at 0.5 A/cm^(2)),thus outperforming an electrolyzer catalyzed by a benchmark Iro_(2)*** NiFeCo-LDH electrocatalyst greatly improves the kinetics of the AEM alkaline seawater electrolyzer,consequently reducing its activation loss and leading to high *** on the results,this NiFeCo-LDH-catalyzed AEM alkaline seawater electrolyzer can likely surpass the energy conversion targets of the US Department of Energy.

A comparison of desensitization methods: Rituximab with/without plasmapheresis in ABO-incompatible living donor liver transplantation

Background: Plasmapheresis is a desensitization method used prior to ABO-incompatible(ABO-I) living donor liver transplantation. However, studies on its usefulness in the rituximab era are ***: Fifty-six adult patients underwent ABO-I living donor liver transplantation between January2012 and October 2015. A single dose of rituximab(300 mg/m~2) was administered 2 weeks before surgery with plasmapheresis in all patients until February 2014(RP group, n = 26). Patients were administered rituximab only, without plasmapheresis between March 2014 and October 2015(ro group, n = 30).Results: The 6-, 12-and 18-month overall survival rates were 92.3%, 80.8% and 76.9% in the RP group and 96.6%, 85.4% and 85.4% in the ro group, respectively(P = 0.574). When the initial isoagglutinin titers roup showed a rebound rise of isoagglutinin titers. For patients with initial isoagglutinin titers ≥ 16, the rebound rise of isoagglutinin titers was more prominent in the RP group. There was no difference in time-dependent changes in B cell subpopulations and ABO-I-related ***: Sufficient desensitization for ABO-I living donor liver transplantation can be achieved using rituximab alone. This desensitization strategy does not affect the isoagglutinin titers, ABO-I-related complications and patient survival.

An eco-friendly,new,and controllable approach for the preparation of manganese oxide(a-MnO_(2))nanorods has been introduced using hydrothermal reaction for supercapacitor *** in-depth crystal structure analysis ofα-MnO_(2) is analyzed by X-ray Rietveld refinement by using Full Prof program with the help of pseudo-Voigt profile *** developed a-MnO_(2) electrode attains a remarkable capacitance of 577.7 F/g recorded at a current density value of 1 A/g with an excellent cycle life when is used for 10,000 repeated cycles due to the porous nanorod-morphology assisting the ease penetration of electrolyte ions into the electroactive *** diffusive and capacitive contributions of the electrode have been estimated by considering standard numerical packages in *** successfully assembling the aqueous symmetric supercapacitor(SSC)cell by utilizing the as-preparedα-MnO_(2),an excellent capacitance of 163.5 F/g and energy density of 58.1 Wh/kg at the constant current density of 0.5 A/g are obtained with an expanded potential frame of 1.6 ***,the cell has exceptionally withstood up to 10,000 cycles with an ultimate capacitance retention of 94.1%including the ability to light an LED for 18 *** findings recommend the developed a-MnO_(2) electrode to be a highly felicitous electrode for the field of energy storage.

Silica thin films synthesized sol–gel process are proposed as flexible encapsulation materials.A sol–gel process provides a dense and stable amorphous silica structure,yielding an extremely high elastic deformation limit of 4.9%and extremely low water vapor transmission rate(WVTR)of 2.90×10^(−4)g/(m^(2)∙day)at 60℃and relative humidity of 85%.The WVTR is not degraded by cyclic bending deformations for the bending radius corresponding to a tensile strain of 3.3%in the silica encapsulation film,implying that the silica thin film is robust against the formation of pinhole-type defects by cyclic bending *** organic solar cells encapsulated with the silica films operate without degradation in power conversion efficiency for 50,000 bending cycles for a bending radius of 6 mm.

Twisted bilayer graphene(tBLG)has received substantial attention in various research fields due to its unconventional physical properties originating from Moire *** electronic band structure in tBLG modified by interlayer interactions enables the emergence of low-energy van Hove singularities in the density of states,allowing the observation of intriguing features such as increased optical conductivity and photocurrent at visible or near-infrared ***,we show that the third-order optical nonlinearity can be considerably modified depending on the stacking angle in *** third-harmonic generation(THG)efficiency is found to significantly increase when the energy gap at the van Hove singularity matches the three-photon resonance of incident *** study on electrically tuneable optical nonlinearity reveals that the gate-controlled THG enhancement varies with the twist angle in tBLG,resulting in a THG enhanced up to 60 times compared to neutral monolayer *** results prove that the twist angle opens up a new way to control and increase the optical *** tBLG,,suggesting rotation-induced tuneable nonlinear optics in stacked two-dimensional material systems.

A novel method to extract a bounding box that contains the three-dimensional object from its spherical hologram is proposed. The proposed method uses the windowed Fourier transform to obtain the angular distribution of the quasi-collimated beams at each position in the spherical hologram and estimates the bounding box by accumulating the quasi-collimated beams in the volume inside the spherical hologram. The estimated bounding box is then used to realize occlusion effect between the objects in the synthesis of the three-dimensional scene hologram.

A new heuristic approach was undertaken for the establishment of a core set for the diversity research of rice. As a result, 107 entries were selected from the 10 368 characterized accessions. The core set derived using this new approach provided a good representation of the characterized accessions present in the entire collection. No significant differences for the mean, range, standard deviation and coefficient of variation of each trait were observed between the core and existing collections. We also compared the diversity of core sets established using this Heuristic Core Collection （HCC） approach with those of core sets established using the conventional clustering methods. This modified heuristic algorithm can also be used to select genotype data with allelic richness and reduced redundancy, and to facilitate management and use of large collections of plant genetic resources in a more efficient way.
