NdFeB magnets are third-generation permanent magnets that are employed as indispensable components in various ***,rare-earth elements(REEs)such as Dy and Nd must be efficiently recovered from end-of-life magnets to enable resource circulation and reinforce unstable supply *** that end,this paper reports synergistically performing core/shell-structured composite fibers(CSCFs)containing sodium polyacrylate and nanoporous zeolitic imidazolate framework-8(NPZIF-8)nanocrystals as a readily recoverable adsorbent with an exceptional REE-adsorbing *** CSCF core forms an NPZIF-8 nanocrystal shell on the fiber surface as well as draws REEs using its dense sodium carboxylate groups into the NPZIF-8 nanocrystal lattice with high specific surface *** CSCFs exhibit significantly higher maximum adsorption capacities(468.60 and 435.13 mg·g-1)and kinetic rate constants(2.02 and 1.92 min-1)for the Nd3+and Dy3+REEs than those of previously reported REE ***,the simple application of the CSCFs to an adsorption reactor considerably mitigates the adsorbent-shape-induced pressure drop,thereby directly influencing the energy efficiency of the ***,the high REE-recovery ability,tractability,and recyclability of the CSCFs offers a pragmatic pathway to achieving cost-effective REE ***,this study provides new insights into designing synergistically performing core/shell architectures for feasible REE recovery.

Glioblastoma is the deadliest neoplasm with the worst 5-year survival rate among all human *** promotes autophagic cell death or blocks the induction of apoptosis in eukaryotic ***,we investigated whether varying levels of autophagic flux in glioblastoma lead to different efficacies of curcumin treatment using U87 MG and A172 human glioblastoma *** number of LC3 puncta,the number of cells with LC3 puncta and the level of LC3 Ⅱ,Atg5 and Atg7 protein were higher in U87 MG cells compared with A172 *** the cells were incubated with curcumin for 24 or 48 h,the percentage of cell death was higher in A172 cells compared with U87 MG *** the level of LC3 was lower,that of curcumin-induced LC3 was higher,in A172 cells than in U87 MG *** relative increases in cell death and LC3-mediated autophagy were greater under serum starvation in A172 cells compared with U87 MG ***-induced A172 cell death was reduced by serum *** both types of cells were transfected with LC3-GFP,the percentage of cell death was higher in A172 cells than that in U87 MG *** together,the data demonstrate that curcumin-mediated tumor cell death is regulated by the basal level of autophagic flux in different glioblastoma *** suggests that prior to the use of various curcumin therapeutics,the level of basal or induced autophagic flux should be carefully examined in tumor cells for the best efficacy.

The study investigates the magnetic separation of Fe from automobile shredder residue （ASR）（〈 0.25 mm） and its application for phenol degradation in water. The magnetically separated Fe was subjected to an ultrasonically assisted acid treatment, and the degradation of phenol in an aqueous solution using nano/micro-size Fe （n/m Fe） was investigated in an effort to evaluate the possibility of utilizing n/m Fe to remove phenol from wastewater. The prepared n/m Fe was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）. The eflects of the dosages ot n/mFe, ph, concentration of phenol and amount of h2O2 on phenol removal were evaluated. The results confirm that the phenol degradation rate was improved with an increase in the dosages of n/mFe and h2O2; however, the rate is reduced when the phenol concentration is higher. The degradation of phenol by n/mFe followed the pseudo-first-order kinetics. The value of the reaction rate constant （k）was increased as the amounts of n/m Fe and h2O2 increased. Conversely, the value of k was reduced when the concentration of phenol was increased. The probable mechanism behind the degradation of phenol by n/m Fe is the oxidation of phenol through hydroxyl radicals which are produced during the reaction between h2O2 and n/m Fe.

AIM:To systematically assess the association between diabetes and incidence of gastric ***:We searched MedLine (PubMed),EMBASE,and the Cochrane Library without any limitations with respect to publication date or language,we also searched the references of qualifying *** studies and cohort studies comparing the risk of gastric cancer between diabetic patients and control subjects were *** excluded studies reporting only standardized incidence ratios without control groups and those that investigated only mortality but not *** studies met our criteria,and the qualities of these studies were assessed using theNewcastle-Ottawa Quality Assessment *** performed a meta-analysis of pre-existing diabetes and gastric cancer incidence using the DerSimonian-Laird method for *** subgroup analyses,we separated the studies by study type,region,sex and method to determine confounding factors and *** also conducted subgroup analyses to examine the effects of smoking,helicobacter pylori (***) infection,and cancer *** bias was evaluated using Begg's ***:A random-effects model meta-analysis showed an increased gastric cancer risk in diabetic patients [relative risk (RR)=1.19;95%CI:1.08-1.31].Subgroup analyses indicated that this result persisted in cohort studies (RR=1.20;95%CI:1.08-1.34),in studies on populations of both Western (RR=1.18;95%CI:1.03-1.36) and Eastern countries (RR=1.19;95%CI:1.02-1.38),in a female subgroup (RR=1.24;95%CI:1.01-1.52),and in highly qualified studies (RR=1.17;95%CI:1.05-1.31).Moreover,these results persisted when the analysis was confined to studies adjusted for well-known gastric cancer risk factors such as smoking (RR=1.17;95%CI:1.01-1.34) and *** infection (RR=2.35;95%CI:1.24-4.46).CONCLUSION:Pre-existing diabetes mellitus may increase the risk of gastric cancer by approximately 19%.This effect seems to be unrelated to geographical region.

AIM: To investigate the success rate of mini-implants and its characteristics and risk factors by survival analyses. METhODS: Three hundred and ninety-four miniimplants of the same type were placed by a single clinician. Age, gender, treatment duration, time of failure, side and jaw of implantation and the soft tissue at placement site were recorded. Odds ratio, survival curves, and Cox proportional hazard model were applied to evaluate the factors influencing the miniimplants' success rate. RESULTS: The cumulative success rate was 88.1%.The maxilla had a significantly higher success rate than that of the mandible(91.7% vs 83.7%, respectively, P = 0.019). Placement of mini-implants in the attached gingiva(AG) showed a higher success rate than that of the mucogingival junction(MGJ) and mucous membrane(MM)(AG, 94.3%; MGJ, 85.8%; MM, 79.4%; P und between the jaw and the gingival tissue type(P here were no significant differences between maxilla and mandible when compared within each placement ***: The gingival tissue type had the most significant effect on the success rate of the mini-implant with higher success rate in the attached gingiva.

Ultra-flexible organic photovoltaics(OPVs)are promising candidates for next-generation power sources owing to their low weight,transparency,and ***,obtaining ultra-flexibility under extreme repetitive mechanical stress while maintaining optical transparency remains challenging because of the intrinsic brittleness of transparent ***,we introduce straindurable ultra-flexible semitransparent OPVs with a thickness below 2μ*** conformal surface coverage of nanoscale thin metal electrodes(hieved,resulting in extremely low flexural rigidity and high strain ***-depth optical and electrical analyses on ultrathin metal electrodes showed that the devices maintain over 73%of their initial efficiency after 1000 cycles of repetitive compression and release at 66%compressive strain,and the average visible light transmittances remain higher than 30%.To our knowledge,this is the first systematical study on mechanical behaviors of strain-durable ultra-flexible ST-OPVs through precise adjustment of each ultrathin electrode thickness toward the emergence of next-generation flexible power sources.

Efficacy of 14-d vs 7-d moxifloxacin-based triple regimens for second-line helicobacter pylori eradication

AIM: To evaluate the efficacy of the 14-d moxifloxacinbased triple therapy for the second-line eradication of helicobacter pylori(h. pylori) ***: Between 2011 and 2013, we conducted a retrospective review of the medical records of 160 patients who had experienced failure of their first-line proton pump inhibitor-based eradication therapy and subsequently received the moxifloxacin-based triple therapy as a second-line eradication treatment regimen. The patients who were treated with the moxifloxacinbased triple therapy(oral 20 mg rabeprazole b.i.d., 1000 mg amoxicillin b.i.d., and 400 mg moxifloxacin q.d.) for 7 d were assigned to the RAM-7 group(n = 79) while those who took them for 14 days were assigned to RAM-14 group(n = 81). The eradication rates for both groups were determined by intentionto-treat(ITT) and per-protocol(PP) analyses. ITT analysis compared the treatment groups as originally allocated while the PP analysis including only those patients who had completed the treatment as originally allocated. Successful eradication therapy for h. pylori infection was defined as the documentation of a negative 13C-urea breath test 4 wk after the end of the eradication ***: The overall ITT eradication rate was 76.2%(122/160). The final ITT eradication rates were 70.8%(56/79; 95%CI: 63.3%-77.1%) in the RAM-7 group and 81.4%(66/81; 95%CI: 74.6%-88.3%) in the RAM-14 group(P = 0.034). The overall PP eradication rate was 84.1%(122/145), and the final PP eradication rates were 77.7%(56/72; 95%CI: 70.2%-85.3%) in the RAM-7 group and 90.4%(66/73; 95%CI: 82.8%-98.1%) in the RAM-14 group(P = 0.017). The h. pylori-eradication rates in the RAM-14 group were significantly higher compared with that of the RAM-7 group according to both the ITT(P = 0.034) and the PP analyses(P = 0.017).
