Yttria-stabilized zirconia(YSZ,ZrO_(2)-8%Y2O_(3))films were deposited onto lanthanum strontium manganite(LSM,La_(0.7)Sr_(0.3)MnO_(3))substrates using dip-coating process aiming for the application in solid oxide fuel cells(SOFcs).YSZ precursor was prepared by sol-gel method;three values of the organic/inorganic concentration ratio(1,3 and 5)were utilized and the sol viscosity was adjusted(60 mPa·s and 100 mPa·s)before deposition on the *** influence of these synthesis parameters on the structure and morphology of the deposited films was examined by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The films showed characteristic peaks of LSM,YSZ(with cubic structure)and secondary phases of SrZrO_(3) and La_(2)O_(3).Depending on the synthesis conditions,crack-free,homogeneous and well adhered films were obtained,with thickness of 11-24μm.

Rationale:Acute caustic ingestion from suicidal intent is not usual in emergency departments in developed *** of the substances commonly ingested by suicidal patients,phosphoric acid,tends to cause multi-system ***’s concern:A 41-year-old male patient presented with complaints of throat discomfort,severe generalized abdominal pain,and multiple episodes of hematemesis after ingesting a restroom cleaning ***:Poisoning by acute caustic ingestion(containingc acid andcol).Interventions:The patient was administered 50 mL of 8.4%sodium bicarbonate solution followed by an isotonic sodium bicarbonate solution running at 500 mL/h,a hyperkalemia kit,ceftriaxone,metronidazole,omeprazole,and *** patient then underwent urgent ***:The patient suffered gastrointestinal bleeding as a result of local caustic *** addition,his course of illness was complicated by severe acidemia from high anion gap metabolic acidosis and deranged electrolytes(hyperphosphatemia,hyperkalemia,and hypocalcemia).He developed multi-organ failure and eventually ***:The clinician needs to be mindful of the multi-system complications arising from such a caustic *** patients need to be monitored closely for deterioration,and have prompt management of the various arising complications,to reduce the high morbidity and mortality associated with this condition.

Encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis(EPS) is a debilitating condition characterized by a fibrocollagenous membrane encasing the small intestine, resulting in recurrent small bowel obstructions. EPS is most commonly associated with long-term peritoneal dialysis, though medications, peritoneal infection, and systemic inflammatory disorders have been implicated. Many cases remain idiopathic. Diagnosis is often delayed given the rarity of the disorder combined with non-specific symptoms and laboratory findings. Although cross-sectional imaging with computed tomography of the abdomen can be suggestive of the disorder, many patients undergo exploratory laparotomy for diagnosis. Mortality approaches 50% one year after diagnosis. Treatment for EPS involves treating the underlying condition or eliminating possible inciting agents(i.e. peritoneal dialysis, medications, infections) and nutritional support, frequently with total parenteral nutrition. EPSspecific treatment depends on the disease stage. In the inflammatory stage, corticosteroids are the treatment of choice, while in the fibrotic stage, tamoxifen may be beneficial. In practice, distinguishing between stages may be difficult and both may be used. Surgical intervention, consisting of peritonectomy and enterolysis, is timeconsuming and high-risk and is reserved for situations in which conservative medical therapy fails in institutions with surgical expertise in this area. Herein we review the available literature of the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of this rare, but potentially devastating disease.

The Florida Museum of Natural History＇s McGuire center for Lepidoptera and Biodiversity, on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida, has become one of the world＇s largest institutions for research on butterflies and moths, and an important research facility for insect science. The facility was constructed by combining the staff and merging the Lepidoptera holdings from the Allyn Museum of Entomology, the Florida State collection of Arthropods and other University of Florida collections, and now includes over ten million specimens from all over the world, rivaling some of the largest Lepidoptera research collections globally. The facility includes a team of domestic and international researchers studying many areas of lepidopterology, including behavior, biodiversity, biogeography, ecology, genomics, physiology, systematics and taxonomy. In this paper, we introduce the McGuire center, its staff, and the many research activities for researchers across entomological disciplines.

In the last years, sugar beet pectins have been the subject of several investigations involving extraction methodologies, chemical composition and functional properties. The structure of pectins, which depends on the extraction method, is decisive in their capacity to induce apoptosis on several cancer cell lines like colon, prostate and breast. In this work, sugar beet pectin extraction was performed in the following steps： lipid extraction with hexane, removal of soluble complex carbohydrates and proteins, and enzymatic treatment with amyloglucosidase, protease, and pectinase. The enzymatic treatment was carried out with Rohapect DA6L under the following conditions： 50℃, pH 4.0, 2% enzyme/substrate （E/S） ratio, 15 h, and a solid to liquid ratio of 1 ： 10. The pectic extract showed a degree of polymerization （DP） profile of 55.8% with DP≥7; 4.9% with DP6; 5.8% between DP2 and DP6 ; 4.7% with DP2; and 28.8% with DP1. The pectic extract was examined for its antiproliferative activity on the McF-7 breast cancer cell line. At a concentration range of 12.5-25 mg/mL the pectic extract killed 80.6% of the cells, exhibiting a higher antiproliferative activity than 4-hydroxytamoxifen （4- OHT）, a classical anticancer drug, which killed 56.5% of the cells.

AIM: To determine whether one genotype (A or non-A genotypes of HBV) predominated over the other during the course of HBV ***: Four baboons were inoculated with HBV. DNA was extracted from serum obtained at monthly intervals postinoculation for 52 weeks and HBV DNA was amplified using primers specific for the core region containing an insert characteristic of genotype A (nt 2 354-2 359, numbering from the EcoRI site). The amplicons were cloned into PcRScriptTM and a minimum of 15 clones per time point were sequenced in both ***: Both genotypes persisted for the entire followup period of 52 weeks. Genotype non-A predominated in two baboons and genotype A in one baboon. Neither genotype predominated in the fourth baboon, as shown at a 5 % level of ***: No conclusions concerning the dominance of either genotype or the natural progression or replication rates of HBV could be drawn because the pattern of the genotypes found may have been caused by sampling fluctuations at the time of DNA extraction and cloning as a result of the very low viral loads in the baboon sera.
