Rate-distortion optimized frame dropping and scheduling for multi-user conversational and streaming video

We propose a Rate-distortion (Rd) optimized strategy for frame-dropping and scheduling of multi-user conversa- tional and streaming videos. We consider a scenario where conversational and streaming videos share the forwarding resources at a network node. Two buffers are setup on the node to temporarily store the packets for these two types of video applications. For streaming video, a big buffer is used as the associated delay constraint of the application is moderate and a very small buffer is used for conversational video to ensure that the forwarding delay of every packet is limited. A scheduler is located behind these two buffers that dynamically assigns transmission slots on the outgoing link to the two buffers. Rate-distortion side information is used to perform Rd-optimized frame dropping in case of node overload. Sharing the data rate on the outgoing link between the con- versational and the streaming videos is done either based on the fullness of the two associated buffers or on the mean incoming rates of the respective videos. Simulation results showed that our proposed Rd-optimized frame dropping and scheduling ap- proach provides significant improvements in performance over the popular priority-based random dropping (PRd) technique.

More than five years ago,the treatment of hepatitis C virus infection was revolutionized with the introduction of all-oral direct-acting antiviral(dAA)*** proved highly efficient in curing patients with chronic hepatitis C(CHC),including patients with *** new dAA treatments were alleged to induce significant improvements in clinical outcome and prognosis,but the exact cause of the expected benefit was ***,little was known about how the underlying liver disease would be affected during and after viral *** this review,we describe and discuss the liver-related effects of the new treatments in regards to both pathophysiological aspects,such as macrophage activation,and the time-dependent effects of therapy,with specific emphasis on inflammation,structural liver changes,and liver function,as these factors are all related to morbidity and mortality in CHC *** seems clear that antiviral therapy,especially the achievement of a sustained virologic response has several beneficial effects on liver-related parameters in CHC patients with advanced liver fibrosis or *** seems to be a timedependent effect of dAA therapy with viral clearance and the resolution of liver inflammation followed by more discrete changes in structural liver *** improvements lead to favorable effects on liver function,followed by an improvement in cognitive dysfunction and portal ***,the data provide knowledge on the several beneficial effects of dAA therapy on liverrelated parameters in CHC patients suggesting short-and long-term improvements in the underlying disease with the promise of an improved longterm prognosis.

In power system studies, congestion in trans- mission lines and utilization of flexible alternating current transmission system （FACTS） devices are closely associated. These devices are very important due to their role in power delivery system enhancement. It is to be noted that the generation companies can exercise their market power which depends on the line flows, line constraints, generators＇ location and its share to the individual loads. This issue cannot be overlooked as it creates monopoliness which is against the deregulated market policy. The objective of this paper is to study the impact of market power when FACTS devices like thyristor controlled switching capacitor （TCSC） and thyristor controlled phase angle regulator （TCPAR） are used under steady state operation. The market power is determined using nodal must-run share （NMRS） index for the standard IEEE 14- bus system with and without the above FACTS devices and the results obtained are compared. All the above simula- tions are conducted in a MATLAB 7.9-R2009b environment.

AIM:To determine the most cited articles and most published authors in Spine Journal from ***:Spine Journal,established in 1976,is affiliated with 12 spine societies and a leader in spine research *** analysis is a method to determine the impact of a journal and its articles on academia and clinical *** the Institute for Scientific Information Web of Knowledge,we determined the most cited articles in Spine Journal *** characteristics and type of article were ***,we evaluated the most published authors during the same time period and calculated the number of citations for each *** number of first authorships for each of these authors was also determined along with the number of citations for those ***:The top 20 cited articles range from 491 to267 total *** top 20 published authors had between 41 and 135 *** of the top 20articles were clinical *** range of citations per lead authorship ratio was 36 to 724 with one author having no lead *** back pain was the most common theme encountered in the top cited *** first-ranked article was not a spine-specific topic rather it was regarding general physical and men-tal health status survey update ***:Spine Journal and its authors have a clear impact on the scientific community based on this review of the top articles and authors in the last 20years.

We study in fairly general measure spaces （X,μ） the （non-linear） potential theory of L^p sub-Markovian semigroups which are given by kernels having a density with respect to the underlying measure. In terms of mapping properties of the operators we provide sufficient conditions for the existence （and regularity） of such densities. We give various （dual） representations for several associated capacities and, in the corresponding abstract Bessel potential spaces, we study the role of the truncation property. Examples are discussed in the case of R^n where abstract Bessel potential spaces can be identified with concrete function spaces.

The evolving dynamics of drug resistance due to tumor heterogeneity often creates impediments to traditional therapies making it a challenging issue for cancer *** cancer often faces challenges of current therapeutic interventions owing to its multiple complexities and high drug resistivity,for example against drugs like trastuzumab and *** resistance in the majority of breast cancer is often aided by the overtly expressed P-glycoprotein(P-gp)that guides in the rapid drug efflux of chemotherapy *** continuous endeavors and ground-breaking achievements in the pursuit of finding better cancer therapeutic avenues,drug resistance is still a menace to hold *** newer therapeutic approaches,the application of phytonutrients such as alkaloids to suppress P-gp activity in drug-resistant cancers has found an exciting niche in the arena of alternative cancer *** this work,we would like to present a black pepper alkaloid derivative known as Bio Perine-loaded chitosan(CS)-polyethylene glycol(PEG)coated polylactic acid(PLA)hybrid polymeric nanoparticle to improve the bioavailability of Bio Perine and its therapeutic efficacy in suppressing P-gp expression in MdA-MB 453 breast cancer cell *** findings revealed that the CS-PEG-Bio PerinePLA nanoparticles demonstrated a smooth spherical morphology with an average size of316 nm,with improved aqueous solubility,and provided sustained Bio Perine *** nanoparticles also enhanced in vitro cytotoxicity and downregulation of P-gp expression in MdA-MB 453 cells compared to the commercial inhibitor verapamil hydrochloride,thus promising a piece of exciting evidence for the development of Bio Perine based nano-drug delivery system in combination with traditional therapies as a crucial approach to tackling multi-drug resistance in cancers.

Recent advances indicate that the amount of carbon released by gradual degassing from the mantle needs to be revised upwards, whereas the carbon supplied by plumes may have been overestimated in the *** in rock types and oxidation state may be very local and exert strong influences on carbon storage and release mechanisms. deep subduction may be prevented by diapirism in thick sedimentary packages,whereas carbonates in thinner sequences may be subducted. Carbonates stored in the mantle transition zone will melt when they heat up, recognized by coupled stable isotope systems(e.g. Mg, Zn, Ca). There is no single ‘mantle oxygen fugacity’, particularly in the thermal boundary layer(TBL) and lowermost lithosphere, where very local mixtures of rock types coexist. Carbonate-rich melts from either subduction or melting of the uppermost asthenosphere trap carbon by redox freezing or as carbonate-rich dykes in this zone. deeply derived, reduced melts may form further diamond reservoirs, recognized as polycrystalline diamonds associated with websteritic silicate minerals. Carbon is released by either edge-driven convection,which tears sections of the TBL and lower lithosphere down so that they melt by a mixture of heating and oxidation, or by lateral advection of solids beneath rifts. Both mechanisms operate at steps in lithosphere thickness and result in carbonate-rich melts, explaining the spatial association of craton edges and carbonate-rich magmatism. High-pressure experiments on individual rock types, and increasingly on reactions between rocks and melts, are fine-tuning our understanding of processes and turning up unexpected results that are not seen in studies of single rocks. Future research should concentrate on elucidating local variations and integrating these with the interpretation of geophysical signals. An online partial discharge(Pd) measurement performed on a high voltage direct current(HVdC) wall bushing successfully identified the presence of internal *** wall bushing is a sulfur hexafluoride gas-insulated bushing,rated for 500 kV dc and terminated on a thyristor-controlled HVdC converter *** measurement of Pd within the HVdC station environment is particularly challenging due to the high levels of electromagnetic noise caused by thyristor switching events and external air-corona from the neighboring high-voltage *** additional challenge is the""mixed"voltage stress on the bushing insulation,which has both ac and dc high-voltage *** are also fast transients during the firing of thyristors in the HVdC conversion process that cause added stress to the *** a result,the analysis and interpretation of Pd data for HVdC equipment is more complex;Pd pulses may occur in response to the ac,dc,or switching transient voltage *** this paper,an online Pd measurement strategy for noise filtering and isolation of Pd sources within the bushing are *** Pd measurement data is plotted on a phase-resolved diagram where the line supply power cord voltage was used as a reference. The phase-resolved diagram appears to suggest that the fast transients,caused during switching,trigger some Pd *** were also performed with the aid of a modern Pd measurement instrument having noise separation *** findings from the online Pd measurements are verified with physical evidence,found after the bushing was removed from service,suggested internal Pd had occurred inside the bushing.
