流行病学研究表明,上海市女性肺癌的高发除了与吸烟,被动吸烟,其它肺部疾患和激素有关外,还提示食用油油雾可能与市区女性肺癌危险性高有关。实验研究也揭示,菜油和豆油加热至270°—280℃(炒菜前油锅温度)时所收集的油烟凝聚物对鼠伤寒沙门氏菌TA98有间接改变作用;菜油的凝聚物还能增高中国地鼠V79细胞的姐妹染色单体交换,增加小鼠骨髓微核细胞率和诱导SV50的正向突变。最近的实验显示菜油凝聚物能使新生金黄地鼠的肺细胞发生恶性转化,皮下接种这些细胞的裸小鼠在接种部位发生了肿瘤。这些结果表明,某些食用油的凝聚物有致变性,并具有潜在的致癌性。

BioPerine Encapsulated Nanoformulation for Overcoming Drug-Resistant Breast cancers

The evolving dynamics of drug resistance due to tumor heterogeneity often creates impediments to traditional therapies making it a challenging issue for cancer *** cancer often faces challenges of current therapeutic interventions owing to its multiple complexities and high drug resistivity,for example against drugs like trastuzumab and *** resistance in the majority of breast cancer is often aided by the overtly expressed P-glycoprotein(P-gp)that guides in the rapid drug efflux of chemotherapy *** continuous endeavors and ground-breaking achievements in the pursuit of finding better cancer therapeutic avenues,drug resistance is still a menace to hold *** newer therapeutic approaches,the application of phytonutrients such as alkaloids to suppress P-gp activity in drug-resistant cancers has found an exciting niche in the arena of alternative cancer *** this work,we would like to present a black pepper alkaloid derivative known as Bio Perine-loaded chitosan(cS)-polyethylene glycol(PEG)coated polylactic acid(PLA)hybrid polymeric nanoparticle to improve the bioavailability of Bio Perine and its therapeutic efficacy in suppressing P-gp expression in MDA-MB 453 breast cancer cell *** findings revealed that the cS-PEG-Bio PerinePLA nanoparticles demonstrated a smooth spherical morphology with an average size of316 nm,with improved aqueous solubility,and provided sustained Bio Perine *** nanoparticles also enhanced in vitro cytotoxicity and downregulation of P-gp expression in MDA-MB 453 cells compared to the commercial inhibitor verapamil hydrochloride,thus promising a piece of exciting evidence for the development of Bio Perine based nano-drug delivery system in combination with traditional therapies as a crucial approach to tackling multi-drug resistance in cancers.

Visual working memory span in adults with cochlear implants： Some preliminary findings

Objective:Neurocognitive functions,specifically verbal working memory (WM),contribute to speech recognition in postlingual adults with cochlear implants (cIs) and normal-hearing (NH) listener shearing degraded *** hypotheses were tested:(1) WM accuracy as assessed using three visual span measures-digits,objects,and symbols-would correlate with recognition scores for spectrally degraded speech (through a cI or when noise-vocoded);(2) WM accuracy would be best for digit span,intermediate for object span,and lowest for symbol span,due to the increasing cognitive demands across these ***,response times,relating to processing demands,would be shortest for digit span,intermediate for object span,and longest for symbol span;(3) cI users would demonstrate poorer and slower performance than NH peers on WM tasks,as a result of less efficient verbally mediated encoding strategies associated with a period of prolonged auditory ***:cross-sectional study of 30 postlingually deaf adults with cIs and 34 NH *** were tested for sentence recognition in quiet (cI users) or after noise-vocoding (NH peers),along with WM using visual measures of digit span,object span,and symbol ***:Of the three measures of WM,digit span scores alone correlated with sentence recognition for cI users;no correlations were found using these three measures for NH *** predicted,WM accuracy (and response times) were best (and fastest) for digit span,intermediate for object span,and worst (and slowest) for symbol *** users and NH peers demonstrated equivalent WM accuracy and response time for digit span and object span,and similar response times for symbol span,but contrary to our original predictions,cl users demonstrated better accuracy on symbol span than NH ***:Verbal WM assessed using visual tasks relates weakly to sentence recognition for degraded *** users performed equivalently to NH peers on most visual tasks of

Event-shape-engineering study of charge separation in heavy-ion collisions

Recent measurements of charge-dependent azimuthal correlations in high-energy heavy-ion collisions have indicated charge-separation signals perpendicular to the reaction plane, and have been related to the chiral magnetic effect（cME）. However, the correlation signal is contaminated with the background caused by the collective motion（flow） of the collision system, and an effective approach is needed to remove the flow background from the correlation. We present a method study with simplified Monte carlo simulations and a multi-phase transport model,and develop a scheme to reveal the true cME signal via event-shape engineering with the flow vector of the particles of interest.

Nano cuO/g-c_3N_4 sheets-based ultrafiltration membrane with enhanced interfacial affinity,antifouling and protein separation performances for water treatment application

To improve the interfacial affinity and antifouling properties of polyphenylsulfone(PPSU)membrane, nano cuO/g-c3 N4(g-cN) sheets were synthesized via facile calcination route as one pot synthesis method. The uniformly assembled nanohybrid fillers, cuO on g-cN sheets were confirmed by using XRD, TEM, EDX and FTIR analysis. The non-solvent induced phase inversion technique was used to fabricate the nanohybrid ultrafiltration(UF)membranes by doping different concentration(0.5–1 wt.%) of nano cuO/g-c_3 N_4(g-cN)sheets within the PPSU matrix. The results of contact angle, atomic force microscopy,energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy reveal that surface structure and physico-chemical properties of nanohybrid membrane plays lead role in solute interaction and rejection compared to bare membrane, M0. Furthermore, the interfacial affinity of membrane was explored in detail via surface free energy, spreading coefficient, wetting tension and reversible work of adhesion analysis. Nanohybrid UF membrane, with 0.5% of the filler(M1)displayed remarkable permeation flux of 202, 131 L/m2/hr for pure water and protein solution, respectively while maintaining a high protein rejection(96%). Moreover, the exceptional dispersion of the nanosheets in the polymer matrix enhanced FRR(79%) and decreased the overall resistance of M1 compared to the pristine membrane(M0). Overall results suggest that the incorporation of nano sheets is a facile modification technique which improves the comprehensive membrane performance and holds a great potential to be further explored for water treatment.
