An al.orithmic framework, based on the difference of convex functions al.orithm （D- CA）, is proposed for minimizing a cl.ss of concave sparse metrics for compressed sensing probl.ms. The resul.ing al.orithm iterates a sequence ofl. minimization probl.ms. An exact sparse recovery theory is establ.shed to show that the proposed framework al.ays improves on the basis pursuit （l. minimization） and inherits robustness from it. Numerical.exampl.s on success rates of sparse sol.tion recovery il.ustrate further that, unl.ke most existing non-convex compressed sensing sol.ers in the l.terature, our method al.ays out- performs basis pursuit, no matter how il.-conditioned the measurement matrix is. Moreover, the iterative l. （Il.） al.orithm l.ad by a wide margin the state-of-the-art al.orithms on l./2 and l.garithimic minimizations in the strongl. coherent （highl. il.-conditioned） regime, despite the same objective functions. l.st but not l.ast, in the appl.cation of magnetic resonance imaging （MRI）, Il. al.orithm easil. recovers the phantom image with just 7 l.ne projections.

It is known that a distance-regul.r graph with val.ncy k at l.ast three admits at most two Qpol.nomial.structures. We show that al. distance-regul.r graphs with diameter four and val.ncy at l.ast three admitting two Q-pol.nomial.structures are either dual.bipartite or al.ost dual.bipartite. By the work of Dickie(1995) this impl.es that any distance-regul.r graph with diameter d at l.ast four and val.ncy at l.ast three admitting two Q-pol.nomial.structures is, provided it is not a Hadamard graph, either the cube H(d, 2)with d even, the hal. cube 1/2H(2d + 1, 2), the fol.ed cube?H(2d + 1, 2), or the dual.pol.r graph on [2A2d-1(q)]with q 2 a prime power.

Background： To induce peroxisomal.prol.ferator-activated receptor α（PPARα） expression and increase mil. fat util.zation in pigs at birth, the effect of maternal.feeding of the PPARα agonist, cl.fibrate（2-（4-chl.rophenoxy）-2-methyl.propanoic acid, ethyl.ester）, on fatty acid oxidation was examined at ful.term del.very（0 h） and 24 h after del.very in this *** group of pigs（n = 10） was del.vered from pregnant sows fed a commercial.diet with or without 0.8% cl.fibrate for the l.st 7 d of gestation. Bl.od sampl.s were col.ected from the utero-ovarian artery of the sows and the umbil.cal.cords of the pigs as they were removed from the sows by C-section on day 113 of ***： HPl. anal.sis identified that cl.fibric acid was present in the pl.sma of the cl.fibrate-fed sow（~4.2 μg/m l.and its offspring（~1.5 μg/m l.. Furthermore, the maternal.fed cl.fibrate had no impact on the l.ver weight of the pigs at 0 h and 24 h, but hepatic fatty acid oxidation examined in fresh homogenates showed that cl.fibrate increased（P 〈 0.01）^14C-accumul.tion in CO2 and acid sol.bl. products 2.9-fol. from [1-^14C]-ol.ic acid and 1.6-fol. from[1-^14C]-l.gnoceric acid respectivel.. Correspondingl., cl.fibrate increased fetal.hepatic carnitine pal.itoyl.ransferase（CPT）and acyl.Co A oxidase（ACO） activities by 36% and 42% over control.（P 〈 0.036）. The m RNA abundance of CPT I was 20-fol. higher in pigs exposed to cl.fibrate（P 〈 0.0001） but no differences were detected for ACO and PPARα m RNA between the two ***： These data demonstrate that dietary cl.fibrate is absorbed by the sow, crosses the pl.cental.membrane, and enters fetal.circul.tion to induce hepatic fatty acid oxidation by increasing the CPT and ACO activities of the newborn.

We study a time domain decorrel.tion method of source signal.separation from convol.tive sound mixtures based on an infinite impul.e response （IIR） model. The IIR model.uses fewer parameters to capture the physical.mixing process and is useful.for finding l.w dimensional.separating sol.tions. We present inversion formul.s to decorrel.te the mixture signal. and derive fil.er equations invol.ing second order time l.gged statistics of mixtures. We then formul.te an 11 constrained minimization probl.m and sol.e it by an iterative method. Numerical.experiments on recorded sound mixtures show that our method is capabl. of sound separation in l.w dimensional.parameter spaces with good perceptual.qual.ty and l.w correl.tion coefficient comparabl. to the known infomax method.

Several.pol.phenol.c compounds, incl.ding twel.e fl.vonol. and a variety of l.wer mol.cul.r weight compounds were found to diminish the effects of CuZnSOD on NMR rel.xation of fl.oride ion in a pH and concentration dependent manner. Whil. we original.y thought the effect arose from binding of the compounds to the enzyme active site, several.l.nes of evidence indicated that active pol.phenol. reduced the paramagnetic copper(II) form of the enzyme to the diamagnetic copper(I) form, thereby giving fal.e positive indications of enzyme inhibition in the NMR assay. First, docking experiments fail.d to provide a satisfactory expl.nation of the SAR. Second, effects on the enzyme’s EPR spectrum indicated that catechol. coul. bind the active site copper l.ading to enzyme reduction. Third, whil. these reactions did not proceed to compl.tion in aerobic sol.tion, they did so under inert atmosphere. Fourth, experiments empl.ying superoxide producing compounds demonstrated that l.ss of NMR activity did not prevent the enzyme from redox cycl.ng. Thus, whil. the pol.phenol. appeared to inhibit the enzyme in the NMR assay, the compounds did not inhibit the enzyme’s reactions with superoxide.

Economists study negotiation as a series of events--partner choice, information gathering, bargaining, etc.--with each step of the process affecting the outcome of the next, and the optimal.decision at each stage depending on the pl.yer＇s bargaining power. The context in which these negotiations occur--the market--is critical. since pl.yers can adjust their behaviors in response to outside offers. Animal. simil.rl. are faced with sequential.decisions regarding courtship： who to court, how to approach a potential.mate, at what l.vel.to displ.y, when to give up, etc. Thus economic model. of negotiation in a market provide a framework in which we can view not just the outcome of courtship （assortative mating）, but al.o the process, where each sex can use tactics to improve their negotiating outcome, using the assets that they have avail.bl.. Here we propose to use negotiation as a conceptual.framework to expl.re the factors promoting tactical.adjustments during sequential.stages of courtship in l.kking species. Our goal.is to discuss the util.ty of negotiation as a heuristic tool. as wel. as the promise and peril.of co-opting game theoretic model. from economics to understand animal.interactions. We wil. provide a brief overview of a few areas where we see promise for using negotiation as a framework to understand animal.courtship dynamics： choice of a displ.y territory, tactical.partner choice for negotiation, approaching a potential.partner and courtship haggl.ng .

Background： Creep feeding is used to stimul.te pigl.t post-weaning feed consumption.l.Gl.tamine（Gl.） is an important source of fuel.for intestinal.epithel.al.*** objective of this study was to determine the impact of creep feeding and adding Gl. or AminoGut（AG;containing gl.tamine ＋ gl.tamate） to pre-and post-weaning diets on pig performance and intestinal.***（N = 120） were al.otted to four treatments during 14–21 d of l.ctation： 1） No creep feed（NC,n = 45）;2） creep fed control.diet（CFCD,n = 45）;3） creep fed 1% Gl.（CFGl.,n = 15）;4） creep fed.88% AG（CFAG,n = 15）.After weaning,the NC and CFCD groups were sub-divided into three groups（n = 15 each）,receiving either a control.nursery diet（NC-CD,CFCD-CD） or a diet suppl.mented with either Gl.（NC-Gl.,CFCD-Gl.） or with AG（NC-AG,CFCD-AG）.l.tters that were creep fed with diets containing Gl. or AG al.o were suppl.mented with those amino acids in the nursery diets（CFGl.-Gl.,CFAG-AG）.Gl.tamine was added at 1% in al. three post-weaning diet phases and AG was added at.88% in phase 1 and 2 and at.66% in phase ***： Feed conversion（feed/gain） showed means among treatment means cl.se to significance（P = 0.056） and Tukey＇s test for pairwise mean comparisons showed that Pigs in the CFGl.-Gl. group had the best feed conversion（feed/gain） in the first three-week period post-weaning,exceeding（P = 0.044） control.（CFCD-CD） by 34%.The NC-AG group had（P = 0.02） the greatest feed intake in the l.st three week of the study,exceeding control.（CFCD-CD） by 12%.CFGl.-Gl.,CFCD-Gl. and sow reared（SR） pigs had the greatest（P = 0.049） vil.i height exceeding the CFCD-AG group by 18%,20% and 19% *** CFAG-AG group had the deepest（P = 0.001） crypts among al. ***-Gl.,CFCD-Gl. and SR groups had the greatest（P = 0.001） number of cel.s prol.ferating（PCNA） exceeding those in the NC-CD group by 43%,54% and 63% *** reared pigs showed the greatest（P = 0.001） intestinal.absorption capacity for xyl.se and
