Experimental determination of the Young’s modulus of individual single-walled carbon nanotubes with single chirality

One-dimensional carbon nanotube(CNT)exhibits excellent mechanical properties and is considered to be an ideal candidate material for the space ***,subtle changes in its chirality strongly affect its physical and chemical properties,including mechanical properties(such as Young's modulus,YM).Theoretical studies reveal that the YMs of perfect single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs)are in the order of TPa and related to their ***,due to the lack of SWCNTs samples with well-defined structures and the difficulties in mechanical tests on individual SWCNTs,the theoretical correlations between YM and structure of SWCNTs have not been verified and are still in debate,which directly influences the practical utilization of the excellent mechanical properties of *** this work,we have developed an experimental method to measure the YM of an individual micrometer-scale suspended CNT by atomic force microscopy.A distinct regularity is found between the YM and chirality(i.e.,chiral angle and diameter)of SWCNT in the experiment for the first *** comparing the YMs of SWCNTs with similar diameters and different chiral angles,it manifests that the SWCNT with a near zigzag configuration has a larger *** finding suggests that the effect of SWCNT’s structures on the YMs cannot be *** developed method of measuring YMs of SWCNTs will be valuable for further experimental research on the inherent physical and chemical properties of SWCNTs.

Nitrous oxide(N_(2)O)is a long-lived greenhouse gas that mainly originates from agricultural *** and more studies have explored the sources,influencing factors and effective mitigation measures of N_(2)O in recent ***,the hierarchy of factors influencing N_(2)O emissions from agricultural soils at the global scale remains *** this study,we carry out correlation and structural equation modeling analysis on a global N_(2)O emission dataset to explore the hierarchy of influencing factors affecting N_(2)O emissions from the nitrogen(N)and non-N fertilized upland farming systems,in terms of climatic factors,soil properties,and agricultural *** results show that the average N_(2)O emission intensity in the N fertilized soils(17.83 g N ha^(-1)d^(-1))was significantly greater than that in the non-N fertilized soils(5.34 g N ha^(−1) d^(−1))(p<0.001).Climate factors and agricultural practices are the most important influencing factors on N_(2)O emission in non-N and N fertilized upland soils,*** different climatic zones,without fertilizer,the primary influence factors on soil N_(2)O emissions are soil physical properties in subtropical monsoon zone,whereas climatic factors are key in the temperate *** fertilizer,the primary influence factors for subtropical monsoon and temperate continental zones are soil physical properties,while agricultural measures are the main factors in the temperate monsoon *** enhanced agricultural practices,such as reduced N fertilizer rate combined with the addition of nitrification and urease inhibitors can potentially mitigate N_(2)O emissions by more than 60%in upland farming systems.

Short-term variations of vapor isotope ratios re- veal the influence of atmospheric processes

Stable isotopes of atmospheric water vapor reveal rich information on water movement and phase changes in the atmosphere. Here we presented two nearly continuous time-series of δD and δ18O of atmospheric water vapor （δv） measured at hourly intervals in surface air in Beijing and above a winter wheat canopy in Shijiazhuang using in-situ measurement technique. During the precipitation events, the δv values in both Beijing and Shijiazhuang were in the state of equilibrium with precipitation water, revealing the influence of precipitation processes. However, the δv departures from the equilibrium state were positively correlated with local relative humidity. Note that the δv tended to enrich in Beijing, but deplete in Shijiazhuang during the precipitation events, which mainly resulted from the influence of transpiration processes that enriched the δv in Shijiazhuang. On seasonal time-scale, the δv values were log-linear functions of water vapor mixing ratios in both Beijing and Shijiazhuang. The water vapor mixing ratio was an excellent predictor of the δv by the Rayleigh distillation mechanisms, indicating that air mass advection could also play an important role in determining the δv. On a diurnal time-scale, the δv reached the minimum in the early afternoon hours in Beijing which was closely related to the atmospheric processes of boundary layer entrainment. During the peak of growing season of winter wheat, however, the δv reached the minimum in the early morning, and increased gradually through the daytime, and reached the maximum in the late afternoon, which was responsible by the interaction between boundary layer entrainment and the local atmospheric processes, such as transpiration and dew formation. This study has the implications for the important role of vegetation in determining the surface δv and highlights the need to conduct δv measurement on short-term （e.g. diurnal） time scales.

Measurements studies have shown that the absorption of radiation by black carbon(BC)increases as the particles ***,there are significant discrepancies between the measured and modeled absorption enhancement(E_(abs)),largely due to the simplifications used in modeling the mixing states and shape *** took advantage of chamber experiments on BC aging and developed an efficient method to resolve the particle shape based on the relationship between the coating fraction(ΔD_(ve)/D_(ve),0)and fractal dimension(D_(f)),which can also reflect the variations of D_(f)during the whole BC aging *** with externally and partly mixed states(0≤ΔD_(ve)/D_(ve),0≤0.5)can be considered to be uniformly distributed with the D_(f)values of 1.8–2.1,whereas the Df values are constrained in the range 2.2–2.8 for fully mixed states(ΔD_(ve)/D_(ve),0>0.5).The morphological parameters(i.e.,the effective density and the dynamic shape factor)were compared with the measured values to verify the simulated *** simulated mean deviations of morphological parameters were smaller than 8%for the method resolving the particle *** applying a realistic shape and refractive index,the mass absorption cross for fully mixed states can be improved by 11%compared with a simplified core–shell *** on our understanding of the influence of D_(f)andΔD_(ve)/D_(ve),0 on E_(abs),we propose a two-stage calibration equation to correct the E_(abs)values estimated by the core–shell model,which reduces the simulation error in the Mie calculation by 6%–14%.

为研究滑液囊支原体(Mycoplasma synoviae,MS)P80家族脂蛋白的功能及其异同,通过PCR方法从4株滑液囊支原体分离株中分别扩增P80-1,P80-2,P80-3蛋白的基因序列并进行测序,通过生物信息学方法对P80家族脂蛋白的蛋白序列进行分析,寻找保守结构域、抗原表位,并预测功能.结果表明,P80家族脂蛋白均为碱性亲水性稳定蛋白,在N端具有较强疏水性,只有P80-2蛋白具有跨膜螺旋区;P80家族脂蛋白信号肽的位置与疏水区结果相一致;3条P80蛋白具有12个相同的保守结构域及2~4个不同的结构域;有31~32个抗原表位;二级结构均以α-螺旋和无规则卷曲为主;三级结构预测显示,P80-1蛋白具有ABC转运蛋白的功能,P80-2蛋白为周质结合蛋白Ⅱ型,P80-3蛋白具有细胞黏附功能.研究结果可为MS P80家族脂蛋白功能的深入研究以及MS致病机制、病原诊断和疫苗研制提供参考.

Cloning and Bioinformation Analysis of Carbonic Anhydrase Gene FsCA1 of Tibet Wild Buckwheat

A carbonic anhydrase( CA) transcript was obtained from the Contig library according to the published sequencing information of the buckwheat transcripts. The full length of the CA gene was amplified by reverse transcription PCR( RT-PCR). The bioinformatics analysis showed that the full length of Fs CA1 gene was 1233 bp and open reading frame was 978 bp,and encoding 325 amino acids. The molecular weight was 35. 11 ku and the isoelectric point was 7. 59; there were 9 α helices,6 β folds,many randon coil and extension chain,containing one signal peptide and one transmembrane region,having a 2 amino acid conserved domains with typical beta-type carbonic anhydrase. Subcellular localization showed that the protein is most likely to appear in the chloroplast. The three-dimensional structure model of Fs CA1 was built by homologous modeling method,indicating that the homo-octamer of buckwheat CA and pea CA could match well,so it can be inferred that buckwheat CA is also homo-octamer. Real-time quantitative PCR was used to detect the expression of Fs CA1 in different organs of *** results showed that Fs CA1 had the highest expression level in leaves,then in the stems,and the lowest in roots.
