An equivalence is made between the exceptional points proposed by the field of non-Hermitian quantum mechanics and the dead band observed in laser *** sensitivity enhancement near this exceptional point is plagued by increased uncertainty due to broadening of the beat-note ***,near the dead band the gyroscope response is caused by Rabi intensity oscillations and not solely by a phase ***,a distinction is made between conservative and non-conservative coupling.

Despite previous reports on the genotypic variation of architectural and functional traits in fruit trees,phenotyping large populations in the field remains *** this study,we used high-throughput phenotyping methods on an apple tree core-collection(1000 individuals)grown under contrasted watering ***,architectural phenotyping was achieved using T-LiDAR scans for estimating convex and alpha hull volumes and the silhouette to total leaf area ratio(STAR).Second,a semi-empirical index(IPL)was computed from chlorophyll fluorescence measurements,as a proxy for leaf ***,thermal infrared and multispectral airborne imaging was used for computing canopy temperature variations,water deficit,and vegetation *** traits estimated by these methods were compared to low-throughput in planta *** indices and alpha hull volumes were significantly correlated with tree leaf area and trunk cross sectional area,while IPL values showed strong correlations with photosynthesis measurements collected on an independent leaf *** contrast,correlations between stomatal conductance and canopy temperature estimated from airborne images were lower,emphasizing discrepancies across measurement *** heritability values were obtained for almost all the traits except leaf photosynthesis,likely due to large intra-tree *** means were used in a clustering procedure that defined six classes of architectural and functional *** between groups showed several combinations between architectural and functional traits,suggesting independent genetic *** study demonstrates the feasibility and relevance of combining multi-scale high-throughput methods and paves the way to explore the genetic bases of architectural and functional variations in woody crops in field conditions.

Along with the development of big data, various Natural Language Generation systems (NLGs) have recently been developed by different companies. The aim of this paper is to propose a better understanding of how these systems are designed and used. We propose to study in details one of them which is the NLGs developed by the company Nomao. First, we show the development of this NLGs underlies strong economic stakes since the business model of Nomao partly depends on it. Then, thanks to an eye movement analysis conducted with 28 participants, we show that the texts generated by Nomao’s NLGs contain syntactic and semantic structures that are easy to read but lack socio-semantic coherence which would improve their understanding. From a scientific perspective, our research results highlight the importance of socio-semantic coherence in text-based communication produced by NLGs.

Detection of small cancer biomarkers with low molecular weight and a low concentration range has always been challenging yet urgent in many clinical applications such as diagnosing early-stage cancer,monitoring treatment and detecting ***,a highly enhanced plasmonic biosensor that can overcome this challenge is developed using atomically thin two-dimensional phase change *** precisely engineering the configuration with atomically thin materials,the phase singularity has been successfully achieved with a significantly enhanced lateral position shift *** on our knowledge,it is the first experimental demonstration of a lateral position signal change>340μm at a sensing interface from all optical *** this enhanced plasmonic effect,the detection limit has been experimentally demonstrated to be 10^(-15) mol L^(−1) for TNF-α cancer marker,which has been found in various human diseases including inflammatory diseases and different kinds of *** as-reported novel integration of atomically thin Ge_(2)Sb_(2)Te_(5) with plasmonic substrate, which results in a phase singularity and thus a giant lateral position shift, enables the detection of cancer markers with low molecular weight at femtomolar level. These results will definitely hold promising potential in biomedical application and clinical diagnostics.

Macroscale fluorescence imaging is increasingly used to observe biological ***,it may suffer from spectral interferences that originate from ambient light or autofluorescence of the sample or its *** this manuscript,we built a simple and inexpensive fluorescence macroscope,which has been used to evaluate the performance of Speed OPIOM(Out of Phase Imaging after Optical Modulation),which is a reference-free dynamic contrast protocol,to selectively image reversibly photoswitchable fluorophores as labels against detrimental autofluorescence and ambient *** tuning the intensity and radial frequency of the modulated illumination to the Speed OPIOM resonance and adopting a phase-sensitive detection scheme that ensures noise rejection,we enhanced the sensitivity and the signal-to-noise ratio for fluorescence detection in blot assays by factors of 50 and 10,respectively,over direct fluorescence observation under constant ***,we overcame the strong autofluorescence of growth media that are currently used in microbiology and realized multiplexed fluorescence observation of colonies of spectrally similar fluorescent bacteria with a unique configuration of excitation and emission ***,we easily discriminated fluorescent labels from the autofluorescent and reflective background in labeled leaves,even under the interference of incident light at intensities that are comparable to *** proposed approach is expected to find multiple applications,from biological assays to outdoor observations,in fluorescence macroimaging.

Recovery of locomotor behavior following spinal cord injury can occur spontaneously in some vertebrates, such as fish, urodele amphibians, and certain reptiles. This review provides an overview of the current status of our knowledge on the anatomical and electrophysiological changes occurring within the spinal cord that lead to, or are associated with the [e-expression of locomotion in spinally-transected salamanders. A better understanding of these processes will help to devise strategies for restoring locomotor function in mammals, including humans.

cancer cell growth is associated with immune surveillance ***,restoring the desired immune response against cancer cells remains a major therapeutic *** to the recent advances in biological knowledge,efficient therapeutic tools have been developed to support the best bio-clinical approaches for immune precision *** of the most important successes in immune therapy is represented by the applicational use of monoclonal antibodies,particularly the use of rituximab for B-cell lymphoproliferative *** recently,other monoclonal antibodies have been developed,to inhibit immune checkpoints within the tumor microenvironment that limit immune suppression,or to enhance some immune functions with immune adjuvants through different targets such as Toll-receptor *** aim is to inhibit cancer proliferation by the diminishing/elimination of cancer residual cells and clinically improving the response duration with no or few adverse *** effect is supported by enhancing the number,functions,and activity of the immune effector cells,including the natural killer(NK)lymphocytes,NKT-lymphocytes,γδT-lymphocytes,cytotoxic T-lymphocytes,directly or indirectly through vaccines particularly with neoantigens,and by lowering the functions of the immune suppressive *** these new therapeutics and their personalized usage,new considerations have to be taken into account,such as epigenetic regulation particularly from microbiota,evaluation of transversal functions,particularly cellular metabolism,and consideration to the clinical consequences at the body *** aim of this review is to discuss some practical aspects of immune therapy,giving to clinicians the concept of immune effector cells balancing between control and *** precision medicine is a combination of modern biological knowledge and clinical therapeutic decisions in a global vision of the patient.
