We investigated the effect of annealing time on the structure and optical properties of Sr WO4：Eu^3＋ powders prepared by the non-hydrolytic sol-gel method and heat treated at 800 ℃ for 2,4,8 and 16 *** and differential thermal analyses revealed that Sr WO4：Eu^3＋ powders were obtained at about 800 ℃.X-ray diffraction patterns and Rietveld refinement data confirmed that all powders had a scheelite-type tetragonal ***-Raman and Fourier transform infrared spectra indicated structural order at short range and anti-symmetric stretching vibrations of O-W-O bonds associated with tetrahedral[WO4]*** properties were investigated by ultraviolet-visible（UV-vis）diffuse reflectance,and photoluminescence（PL）data which provided the evolution of quantum efficiency（η）and lifetime（τ）.UV-vis spectroscopy evidenced intermediate energy levels within the band gap of Sr WO4：Eu^3＋ *** properties validated that the Eu^3＋ electric-dipole（^5D0→^7F2）transition in PL emission spectra was dominant which proved that Eu^3＋ ions were positioned in a site without an inversion center.[（^5D0→^7F2）/（^5D0→^7F1）]band ratios showed that Eu^3＋ ions were located in a low symmetry *** PL emission,ηandτproved the dependence on the annealing time in the behavior of Sr WO4：Eu3＋powders with a higher relative emission PL intensity as well as higherηandτvalues related to other samples when heat treated at 800℃ for 8 h.

Background: Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma is a common malignant neoplasm that affects areas that are exposed to the sun in fair-skinned people. It occurs less frequently on the lower limbs where other etiological factors are involved. Objective: To determine the epidemiological aspects of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma of the lower limbs in Goinia. Methodology: Forty-three cases of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma of the lower limbs from the Cancer Registry of the Population Base of Gois, for the period between 1995 and 1999, were included in the study. Results: Among the cases of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma registered in this 5-year interval, 43 (4.6%) represented cases affecting the lower limbs. Of these individuals, seven (16.3%)were male and 36 (83.7%)-female (P < 0.001). Those in the age group of 60 years and above represented 90.7%of the cases (P < 0.001). None of the patients had metastasis. Conclusion: Cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas on the lower limbs are more frequently seen in women older than 60 years of age, and they rarely metastasize.

Purpose: To report the visual prognosis and longterm complications in patients with multifocal choroiditis and panuveitis (MCP). Methods: A retrospective stud y was performed with patients who met inclusion criteria for MCP at the Uveitis Clinic, Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University, Montreal, Canada. Informatio n collected included duration of follow-up, visual acuity (VA) measured at each clinical visit, ocular and systemic treatment and ocular complications observed during follow-up. Results: Nineteen patients (37 eyes) with MCP with a mean fo llow-up of 76.9 months were studied. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed a d ecrease in the proportion of patients with a final VA ≥20/40 over time. Cystoid macular oedema was seen in 29.7%of the eyes and was the most frequent macular abnormality observed in our group. On the other hand, choroidal neovascularizati on was detected in only six (16.2%) of the eyes, but was related to VA < 20/200 in four of these eyes. Glaucoma was detected in 10.8%of the eyes. Cataract (po sterior subcapsular and/or nuclear) was the most common longterm complication, o ccurring in 40%of affected eyes. Cataract surgery improved the VA in 83.3%of t hese eyes. Conclusion: The visual acuity of patients with MCP decreases with tim e. Visual loss can occur from complications following the inflammation itself an d/or iatrogenic induced by the chronic use of corticosteroids.

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common eyelid malignancy, accounting for approximately 90%of malignant eyelid tumours. Despite its prevalence in adults, it is extremely rare in children, and usually occurs in the setting of a known genetic defect or following radiotherapy treatment. We report three cases of de novo basal cell carcinoma in children. These children had no known genetic syndromes and had not undergone radiotherapy.

通过两个试验研究碳水化合物来源及其加工对非泌乳期奶牛血清中孕酮（P4）和胰岛素浓度的影响。试验1：选择12头切除卵巢的放牧吉尔与荷斯坦杂交奶牛，按照体重和体况评分随机分配到两个试验组，分别添加磨碎精细的玉米和柑橘渣为基础饲料的补充物。试验采用拉丁方交叉设计。奶牛单独饲喂，每头牛的日粮添加量相当于每日10．9kg干物质，每天分两次投入。
