This paper presents a direct Mori-Tanaka approach to calculate the effective moduli of particle-reinforced composites and fiber-reinforced composites with spring-like imperfect interfaces. By a comparison between these results and those obtained from the approximate Mori-Tanaka method developed by Qu for composites with slightly weakened interface, the validity of the Qu's method is revealed.

为研究陕西省蒲城县崇寿寺宋代古塔的动力特性及结构整体损伤,应用动态测试系统对该塔在环境激励下的振动响应进行测试,对测试结果进行时域及频域分析,得到了结构沿水平方向振动的前3阶频率、振型及阻尼比;建立崇寿寺塔的有限元模型计算结构的动力特性,通过调整计算参数,使计算结果与测试结果一致,得到了结构的宏观等效弹性模量,依据该模量通过模态刚度定义损伤判别指标,对崇寿寺塔结构损伤进行评定。结果表明,当结构楼层弹性模量随高度增加逐渐增大时,数值计算各阶频率均与测试结果接近,表明崇寿寺塔结构宏观损伤在首层较为严重。因此,通过对比古塔动力特性测试结果与数值计算结果,可实现对结构整体损伤进行评定。

Atomic force microscopy images taken during the crystallization of polyethylene both from processed andquiescent melts are presented. Crystallization from processed melts provides further evidence of a region in front of agrowing lamella that is influenced by the crystallization process, but extending only 40 nm into the melt. High-resolutionimages of the growing crystal tip, taken during crystallization, show no direct evidence of the existence of intermediatephases. The growing tip is shown to be slightly rounded. In-filling crystallization, occurring after the initial flush of growth,is imaged in polyethylene for the first time, and shown to continue to a temperature 8℃ below the initial crystallizationtemperature.

Based on the research of a biological olfactory system, a novel chaotic neural network model - K set model has been es- tablished. This chaotic neural network not only simulates the real brain activity of an olfactory system, but also presents a novel chaotic concept for signal processing and pattern recognition. The characteristics of the K set models are investigated and show that a KIII model can be used for image pattern classification.

The graph drawing and information visualization communities have developed many sophisticated techniques for visualizing network data, often involving complicated algorithms that are difficult for the uninitiated to learn. This article is intended for beginners who are interested in programming their own network visualizations, or for those curious about some of the basic mechanics of graph visualization. Four easy-to-program network layout techniques are discussed, with details given for implementing each one： force-directed node-link diagrams, arc diagrams, adjacency matrices, and circular layouts. A java applet demonstrating these layouts, with open source code, is available at http：//***/research/simpleNetVis/. The end of this article also briefly surveys research topics in graph visualization, pointing readers to references for further reading.

Stability is one of the most critical problems in designing and planning for a complex stochastic *** approach to the problem is to determine a static priority rule that is stable once the physical structures of the network *** present a mixed integer program formulation for this approach for a fluid network whose nominal traffic intensity is less than one at each *** is a generalization of the work of Chen & *** an application,we also provide a sufficient condition for the nonexistence of a stable static priority rule based upon the linear program relaxation.

The present study reveals the significance of the magnetic field or Lorentz force on the unsteady natural convection flow and heat transfer in the suddenly expanded *** Lorentz force based magnetohydrodynamics(MHD)solver using electric potential formulation coupled with the energy equation by the means of Boussinesq approximation is developed in the open-source CFD tool *** unsteady flow is generated by the buoyancy force keeping the Rayleigh number(Ra)at 109,at the fixed Prandtl number(Pr)of *** effects of the magnetic field on the flow and heat transfer are explained for various orientations of magnetic field(Bx,B45,and By)in terms of Hartmann number(Ha=0,50,100,300 and 500).The increase in the magnetic field increases the strength of the Lorentz force,which regulates the flow pattern and suppresses down the unsteady nature of flow and heat transfer into the *** is perceived that the average Nusselt number decreases as the intensity of Bx and B45 magnetic field ***,for By magnetic field the average Nusselt number increases up to Ha of 100 as compared to the non-MHD case(Ha=0).The distribution of Lorentz force in the domain plays a significant role in the governing of the fluid flow and heat transfer.

Microalloyed linepipe steels were first introduced in 1959 at strength levels around 52-60 ksi [1] [2].The steels were generally strengthened by niobium or vanadium used *** strengths levels increased to X-70 in the early 1970’s niobium and vanadium were used in combination and controlled rolling was introduced on a broad *** strengths decrease tolerance for impurities and non-metallic inclusions which required improved steelmaking ***,carbon,and nitrogen were reduced and continuous casting was increasingly applied which required improved ladle refining and deoxidation ***-molybdenum steels were introduced by IPSCO in 1972 [3] and by Italsider in 1974 [4].Steels with higher niobium contents were also introduced in the early 1970’s but available steelmaking technologies limited the use of optimum niobium to carbon ratios,*** approaching *** the steels benefited from the effect of niobium in retarding austenite recrystallization at relatively high rolling temperatures and they developed attractive combinations of strength and toughness in old manufacturing facilities using simple (relaxed) rolling *** in the price of molybdenum and vanadium in the past decade and expanded application of API Grade X-80 linepipe,have led to more widespread use of niobium contents up to 0.11 percent,in combination with 0.02-0.03 percent carbon (near stoichiometry) thus maximizing the effects of solute niobium during rolling,in lowering transformation temperature,and thereby reducing reliance on other alloying,often expensive,*** history of these developments will be presented and applications of the concept will be summarized.

2004年11月12日的系列地磁亚暴期间, TC-2卫星上的中性原子成像仪(NUADU)在飞临近地点附近的南、北极上空观测到低高度能量中性原子(ENA)辐射.通过对高时空分辨探测数据的反演,我们首次给出亚暴期间环电流能量离子沉降和注入过程的全球视场展示,展示的时间分辨率高达1min.探测结果表明,观测到的ENA辐射主要来自低高度、高纬极区.由于沉降能量离子沿磁力线运动,在该区域通过电荷交换产生ENA的几率更大.因此,利用低轨道卫星探测高时间和高空间分辨率的ENA成像数据是监测地磁活动期间环电流离子动力学过程演化的最佳方法.
