The differential cross-section for electronic Raman scattering in double semi-parabolic quantum wells of typical GaAs/AlxGa1-xAs is investigated numerically with the effective-mass approximation. The dependence of the differential cross-section on structural parameters such as the barrier width and the well widths is studied. Our results indicate that the electronic Raman scattering is affected by the geometrical size and can be negligible in the symmetric double-well case.

An extension of the operational Tau method (OTM) is used to solve the Fokker Planck equation arising in many physical *** extension yields an algebraic equivalent representation of the desired problem using arbitrary polynomial basis functions to decrease the size of the *** structure,properties and advantages of the OTM are presented,and some illustrative linear and nonlinear experiments are given to show the capability and efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

An islanding operation of a distribution network is a topic of interest due to the significant penetration of distributed generation(DG) in a power system network. However, controlling the frequency of an islanded distribution system remains an unresolved issue, especially when the load exceeds the generation. This paper presents a new technique for a successful islanding operation of a distribution network connected with multiple mini hydro based DGs. The proposed technique is based on three main parts. The first part uses an islanding detection technique to detect the islanding event correctly. The second part consists of a power imbalance estimation module(PIEM), which determines the power imbalance between the generation and load demand. The third part consists of a load shedding controller, which receives the power imbalance value and performs load shedding according to load priority. The proposed technique is validated on an 11 k V existing Malaysia distribution network. The simulation results show that the proposed technique is effective in performing a successful islanding operation by shedding a significant number of loads.

This paper proposes a robust controller to improve power system stability and mitigate subsynchronous interaction(SSI)between doubly-fed induction generator(DFIG)-based wind farms and series compensated transmission lines.A robust stability analysis is first carried out to show the impact of uncertainties on the SSI *** uncertainties are mainly due to the changes in the power system impedance(e.g.,transmission line outages)and the variations of wind farm operating ***,using theμ-synthesis technique,a robust SSI damping controller is designed and augmented to the DFIG control system to effectively damp the SSI *** output signals of the supplementary controller are dynamically limited to avoid saturating the converters and to provide DFIG with the desired fault-ride-through(FRT)operation during power system *** proposed controller is designed for a realistic test system with multiple series capacitor compensated *** frequency of the unstable SSI mode varies over a wide range due to the changes in power system topologies and wind farm operating *** performance of the proposed controller is verified through electromagnetic transient(EMT)simulations using a detailed wind farm *** results also confirm the grid compliant operation of the DFIG.

Complement receptor 2 （CR2/CD21） is predominantly expressed on the surface of mature B cells where it forms part of a coreceptor complex that functions, in part, to modulate B-cell receptor signal strength. CR2/CD21 expression is tightly regulated throughout B-cell development such that CR2/CD21 cannot be detected on pre-B or terminally differentiated plasma cells. CR2/CD21 expression is upregulated at B-cell maturation and can be induced by IL-4 and CD40 signaling pathways. We have previously characterized elements in the proximal promoter and first intron of CR2/CD21 that are involved in regulating basal and tissue-specific expression. We now extend these analyses to the CR2/CD21 core promoter. We show that in mature B cells, CR2/~D21 transcription proceeds from a focused TSS regulated by a non-consensus TATA box, an initiator element and a downstream promoter element. Furthermore, occupancy of the general transcriptional machinery in pre-B versus mature B-cell lines correlate with CR2/CD21 expression level and indicate that promoter accessibility must switch from inactive to active during the transitional B-cell window.
