The Centro de Laseres Pulsados in Salamanca,Spain has recently started operation phase and the first user access period on the 6 j 30 fs 200 TW system(VEGA 2)already started at the beginning of *** this paper we report on two commissioning experiments recently performed on the VEGA 2 system in preparation for the user *** 2 system has been tested in different configurations depending on the focusing optics and targets *** configuration(long focal length F=130 cm)is for underdense laser-matter interaction where VEGA 2 is focused onto a low density gas-jet generating electron beams(via laser wake field acceleration mechanism)with maximum energy up to 500 MeV and an X-ray betatron source with a 10 keV critical energy.A second configuration(short focal length F= 40 cm)is for overdense laser-matter interaction where VEGA 2 is focused onto a 5 μm thick Al target generating a proton beam with a maximum energy of 10 MeV and temperature of 2.5 *** this paper we present preliminary experimental results.

Fragile X Messenger Ribonucleoprotein 1(FMR1)gene mutations lead to fragile X syndrome,cognitive disorders,and,in some individuals,scoliosis and craniofacial ***-month-old(mo)male mice with deletion of the FMR1 gene exhibit a mild increase in cortical and cancellous femoral bone ***,consequences of absence of FMR1 in bone of young/aged male/female mice and the cellular basis of the skeletal phenotype remain *** found that absence of FMR1 results in improved bone properties with higher bone mineral density in both sexes and in 2-and 9-mo *** cancellous bone mass is higher only in females,whereas,cortical bone mass is higher in 2-and 9-mo males,but higher in 2-and lower in 9-mo female FMR1-knockout ***,male bones show higher biomechanical properties at 2mo,and females at both *** of FMR1 increases osteoblast/mineralization/bone formation and osteocyte dendricity/gene expression in vivo/ex vivo/in vitro,without affecting osteoclasts in vivo/ex ***,FMR1 is a novel osteoblast/osteocyte differentiation inhibitor,and its absence leads to age-,site-and sex-dependent higher bone mass/strength.

Atomized, pre-alloyed Ti-24Nb-4Zr-7.9Sn （wt%） powder was used to fabricate solid, prototype components by electron beam melting （EBM）. Vickers microindentation hardness values were observed to average 2 GPa for the precursor powder and 2.5 GPa for the solid, EBM-fabricated products. The powder and solid product microstructures were examined by optical and electron microscopy. X-ray diffraction analyses showed that they had bcc β-phase microstructure. However, it was found by transmission electron microscopy that the EBM-fabricated product had plate morphology with space -100-200 nm. Although the corresponding selected area diffraction patterns can be indexed by β-phase plus α＂-martensite with orthorhombic crystal structure, the dark-field analyses failed to observe the α＂-martensite. Such phenomenon was also found in deformed gum metals and explained by stress-induced diffusion scattering due to phonon softening.

Lower Cretaceous C-isotope records show intermittent negative/positive spikes, and consistent patterns of coevalchemostratigraphic curves thus document shifts that signal simultaneous responses of temporal changes in the global carbon reservoir. The standard pattern registered by the δ13Corg and δ13Ccarb in Lower Aptian sediments includes distinct isotope segments C1 to C8 （Menegatti et al., 1998）. In the E1 Pui section, Organy Basin, Spain, C-isotope segment C2 is the longest interval preceding segments C3-C6 associated with oceanic anoxic event la （OAE la）, and reveals a distinct negative shift of-1.8‰ to -2.23‰ defining the C-isotope pattern within that interval. Total inorganic carbon （TIC）, total organic carbon （TOC）, δ13Corg, microfacies, n-alkanes show no difference before, during, or after the negative inflection. The biomarkers indicate that organic matter （OM） mainly originates from algal/microbial sources because short-chain length homologues （〈 nCtg） dominate, nC2o through nC25 indicate some contribution from aquatic vegetation, but little from higher plants （〉nC20, as also suggested by the terrestrial/aquatic ratio ofn-alkanes or （TAR） = [（nf27＋nf29＋nC31）/（nC15＋nCt7＋rlCt9）] （averages 0.085）. We suggest that conjoint pulses of contemporaneous LIPs （Ontong java） and massive explosive volcanism in northeast Asia, the Songliao Basin （SB-V）, best conform to plausible causes of the negative intra-C2 carbon isotopic excursion （CIE） at that time. Because of its apparent common occurrence the intra-C2 inflection could be a useful marker harbinger to the more pronounced CIE C3, the hallmark of OAE 1 a.

Moderate to severe perinatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy occurs in~1 to 3/1000 live births in high-income countries and is associated with a significant risk of death or neurodevelopmental *** assessment is important to help identify highrisk infants,to help families,and to support appropriate interventions.A wide range of monitoring tools is available to assess changes over time,including urine and blood biomarkers,neurological examination,and *** present,magnetic resonance imaging is unique as although it is expensive and not suited to monitoring the early evolution of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy by a week of life it can provide direct insight into the anatomical changes in the brain after hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and so offers strong prognostic information on the long-term outcome after hypoxic-ischemic *** review investigated the temporal dynamics of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy injuries,with a particular emphasis on exploring the correlation between the prognostic implications of magnetic resonance imaging scans in the first week of life and their relationship to long-term outcome prediction,particularly for infants treated with therapeutic hypothermia.A comprehensive literature search,from 2016 to 2024,identified 20 pertinent *** review highlights that while the optimal timing of magnetic resonance imaging scans is not clear,overall,it suggests that magnetic resonance imaging within the first week of life provides strong prognostic *** challenges limit the timing consistency,particularly the need for intensive care and clinical ***,although most reports examined the prognostic value of scans taken between 4 and 10 days after birth,there is evidence from small numbers of cases that,at times,brain injury may continue to evolve for weeks after *** suggests that in the future it will be important to explore a wider range of times after hypo

The elderly population is increasing worldwide, with subjects 〉 65 years of age constituting the fastest-growing age group. Furthermore, the elderly face the greatest risk and burden of cardiovascular disease mortality and morbidity. Although elderly patients, particularly those older 〉 75, have not been well represented in randomized clinical trials evaluating lipid-lowering therapy, the available evidence supporting the use of statin therapy in primary prevention in older individuals is derived mainly from subgroup analyses and post-hoc data. On the other hand, elderly patients often have multiple co-morbidities that require a high number of concurrent medications; this may increase the risk for drug-drug interactions, thereby reducing the potential benefits of statin therapy. The aim of this review was to present the relevant literature regarding statin use in the elderly for theft primary cardiovascular disease, with the associated risks and benefits of treatment.

In this work,the results of the study on the optical properties of the perovskite structure ABO3 with La^(3+) substitution for ions K^(+) and Na^(+) in the A site and Ti^(4+) substitution for ion Nb^(5+) in the B site are *** ceramics were sintered at 1100℃ and 1190℃ and formed at 10 MPa and 80 *** ceramics were obtained with 94% of the theoretical *** piezoresponse force microscopy(PFM)showed needle-shaped grains with a size of 30 nm for the samples formed at 10 MPa at both sintering ***,the high temperature and high pressure used in formation reduced the energy of the band gap(Eg)from 3.36 to 3.09 *** emissions to 2.19,1.86,2.5,and 2.31 eV were obtained by exciting the samples at 325,373,457,and 500 nm,respectively;these emissions corresponded to blue-yellow-red regions of the visible spectrum.

This review provides a recompilation of the most important and recent strategies employed to increase the efficiency of metal-organic framework(MOF)-based systems toward the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution(PHE)reaction through specific strategies:tailoring the photocatalytic activity of bare MOFs and guest@MOF composites,formation of heterojunctions based on MOFs and various photocatalysts,and inorganic photocatalysts derived from *** to the data reported in this mini-review,the most effective strategy to improve the PHE of MOFs relies on modifying the linkers with new secondary building units(SBUs).Although several reviews have investigated the photocatalytic activity of MOFs from a general point of view,many of these studies relate this activity to the physicochemical and catalytic properties of ***,they did not consider the interactions between the components of the photocatalytic *** study highlights the effects of strength of the supramolecular interactions on the photocatalytic performance of bare and MOF-based materials during PHE.A thorough review and comparison of the results established that metal-nanoparticle@MOF composites have weak van der Waals forces between components,whereas heterostructures only interact with MOFs at the surface of bare *** material derivatives from MOFs,we found that pyrolysis destroyed some beneficial properties of MOFs for ***,we conclude that adding SBUs to organic linkers is the most efficient strategy to perform the PHE because the SBUs added to the MOFs promote synergy between the two materials through strong coordination bonds.
