Platelets are small, versatile blood cells that are critical for hemostasis/thrombosis. Local platelet accumulation is a known contributor to proinflammation in various disease states. however, the anti-inflammatory/immunosuppressive potential of platelets has been poorly explored. here, we uncovered, unexpectedly, desialylated platelets (dPLTs) down-regulated immune responses against both platelet-associated and -independent antigen challenges. Utilizing multispectral photoacoustic tomography, we tracked dPLT trafficking to gut vasculature and an exclusive Kupffer cell-mediated dPLT clearance in the liver, a process that we identified to be synergistically dependent on platelet glycoprotein Ibα and hepatic Ashwell–Morell receptor. Mechanistically, Kupffer cell clearance of dPLT potentiated a systemic immunosuppressive state with increased anti-inflammatory cytokines and circulating CD4+ regulatory T cells, abolishable by Kupffer cell depletion. Last, in a clinically relevant model of hemophilia A, presensitization with dPLT attenuated anti-factor VIII antibody production after factor VIII ( infusion. As platelet desialylation commonly occurs in daily-aged and activated platelets, these findings open new avenues toward understanding immune homeostasis and potentiate the therapeutic potential of dPLT and engineered dPLT transfusions in controlling autoimmune and alloimmune diseases.

The endocrine system is a fundamental type of long-range cell-cell communication that is important for maintaining metabolism,physiology,and other aspects of organismal *** signaling is mediated by diverse blood-borne ligands,also called hormones,including metabolites,lipids,steroids,peptides,and *** size and structure of these hormones are fine-tuned to make them bioactive,responsive,and adaptable to meet the demands of changing *** has nature selected such diverse ligand types to mediate communication in the endocrine system?What is the chemical,signaling,or physiologic logic of these ligands?What fundamental principles from our knowledge of endocrine communication can be applied as we continue as a field to uncover additional new circulating molecules that are claimed to mediate long-range cell and tissue crosstalk?This review provides a framework based on the biochemical logic behind this crosstalk with respect to their chemistry,temporal regulation in physiology,specificity,signaling actions,and evolutionary development.

A neural network consists of many neuronsconnected by synapses. It is able to process information andgenerate a specific pattern of electrical activity. To analyzeits interior stucture and exterior properties, one computersimulator was implemented. As the neural network iscomplicated and the simulation is time consuming, so datastructure and computation scheme are critical to simulationprocess. In this paper, data structure is designed sharableand reusable, and parallel computation is applied to matchthe data structure. With the data structure and parallelcomputation, the simulation is made much more efficientand high performance was achieved.

＜正＞ The ability of a neural network to proces;information and to generate a specific pattern of electrical activity is dependent on both the intrinsic biophysical properties of the individual neurons in the network and their pattern of synaptic connectivity. Through the analysis of its biophysical and biochemical structure, and incorporation informatior science into medical science, computer simulations can be used to verify the known and explore the unknown, and will certainly be very significant to biomedical fields. In this paper one computer simulation system for neural networks was designed and implemented including system architecture, equivalent circuit, mathematical modeling, data representation, etc. The system architecture was designed as pyramid frame with open, controllable and measurable properties. It was implemented in platform-independent jAVA language with friendly graphical interface. And it has been widely applied.

Plasma density measurement and downstream etching of silicon and silicon oxide in Ar/NF3 mixture remote plasma source

In this study,plasma density measurements were performed near the plume region of the remote plasma source (RPS) in Ar/NF3 gas mixtures using a microwave cutoff *** measured plasma density is in the range of 1010-1011 cm-3 in the discharge conditions with RPS powers of 2-4 kW and gas pressures of 0.87-4 *** plasma density decreased with increasing gas pressures and RPS powers under various Ar/NF3 mixing *** decrease in the plasma density measured at the fixed measurement position (plume region) can be understood by the reduction of the electron energy relaxation length with increases in the gas pressures and mixing ratio of NF3/(Ar/NF3).We also performed downstream etching of silicon and silicon oxide films in this *** etch rate of the silicon films significantly increases while the silicon oxide is slightly etched with the gas pressures and *** was also found that the etch rate strongly depends on the wafer position on the processing chamber electrode,and that the etch selectivity reached 96-131 in the discharge conditions of RF powers (3730-4180 W) and gas pressures (3.6-4 Torr).

Individual and geospatial factors associated with receipt of colorectal cancer screening:a state-wide mixed-level analysis
