The treatment of wastewaters is crucial to maintain the ecological status of receiving waters,and thereby guarantee the protection of aquatic life and human *** quality evaluation is conventionally based on physicochemical parameters,but increasing attention has been paid to integrate physicochemical and biological ***,the regulatory use of fish in biological testing methods has been subject to various ethical and cost concerns,and in vitro cell-based assays have thus become an important topic of ***,the present study intends:(a) to evaluate the efficiency of two different sample pre-concentration techniques (lyophilisation and solid phase extraction) to assess the toxicity of municipal effluents on rat cardiomyoblast H9c2(2-1) cells,and (b) maximizing the use of the effluent sample collected,to estimate the environmental condition of the receiving *** gathered results demonstrate that the H9c2(2-1) sulforhodamine B-based assay is an appropriate in vitro method to assess biological effluent toxicity,and the best results were attained by lyophilising the sample as *** to its response,the H9c2(2-1) cell line might be a possible alternative in vitro model for fish lethal testing to assess the toxicity of municipal *** physicochemical status of the sample suggests a high potential for eutrophication,and iron exceeded the permissible level for wastewater discharge,possibly due to the addition of ferric chloride for wastewater *** general,the levels of carbamazepine and sulfamethoxazole are higher than those reported for other countries,and both surpassed the aquatic protective values for long-term exposure.

Pool and billiards are amongst a family of games played on a table with six pockets along the rails. This paper presents an augmented reality tool designed to assist unskilled or amateur players of such games. The system is based on a projector and a Kinect 2 sensor placed above the table, acquiring and processing the game on-the-fly. By using depth information and detecting the table's rails(borders),the balls' positions, the cue direction, and the strike of the ball, computations predict the resulting balls' trajectories after the shot is played. These results—trajectories, visual effects, and menus—are visually output by the projector, making them visible on the snooker table. The system achieves a shot prediction accuracy of 98% when no bouncing occurs.

The possible inhibitory effects against foodborne pathogens and spoilage microorganisms of two strains(DSM 20016 and DSM 17938)of reuterin-producing Limosilactobacillus reuteri,and an edible alginate-konjac gum film containing *** cells and in situ produced reuterin was *** in vitro antimicrobial screening study indicated that both *** strains and the edible film showed inhibitory effects against ***,*** and ***,and towards the fungi ***,***,***,and *** addition,*** DSM 20016 was able to produce reuterin in situ(46.67 mmol/L)in alginate-konjac gum film-forming solution through anaerobic glycerol ***,after the edible film production by extrusion technique,both *** and reuterin were successfully trapped(98 and 67.6%,respectively).further studies must be conducted to detect the exact metabolites related to the inhibition effects against foodborne pathogens and spoilage microorganisms.

The applicatio n of nano particles as selective drug delivery platforms arises as one the most promising therapeutic strategies in the biomedical field. Such systems can encapsulate drugs, prevent its premature degradation, transport and promote the drugs specific delivery to the target site. Among the different nanostructures, gold-core mesoporous silica shell (AuMSS) nanorods have been one of the most explored due to their unique physical and chemical properties. The mesoporous silica biocompatibility, high surface area that can be easily functionalized, tubular pores that can store the drugs, conjugated with the intrinsic capacity of gold nanorod to absorb near-infrared radiation, allows the combination of hyperthermia (i.e., photothermal effect) with drug delivery, making them a nanoplatforms with a huge potential for cancer therapy. Nevertheless, the successful applicati on of AuMSS nanoparticles as an effective can cer nano medicine is hindered by the uncon trolled release of the therapeutic payloads, limited blood circulation time and unfavorable pharmacokinetics. In this review, an overview of the modificati ons performed to improve the AuMSS nano rods applicati on in nanom edicine is provided, highlighting the practical approaches that enhaneed the AuMSS nanorods targeting, responsiveness to different stimuli, and blood circulation time. further, the basics of AuMSS nano rods syn thesis procedures, gen eral properties, and its applicati on in can cer therapy are also described.

The CASTOR-K code is a hybrid magnetohydrodynamic （MHD）-drift kinetic code developed for the study of MHD modes in the presence of energetic ion populations. It allows a fast assessment of the linear stability of the modes, as well as an accurate calculation of damping due to thermal species （Landau damping）. These capabilities make the code an invaluable tool for parametric studies and data analysis. In recent years, CASTOR-K has been mostly used to analyze jET data, including the identification of mechanisms involved in the expulsion of energetic ions from the plasma. However, in order to prepare the code to be used for a wider range of tokamaks including ITER, the code is being subject to a series of important improvements. These improvements aim not only to introduce new physics in the code but also to make it capable of exchanging data with other codes through its integration in modelling infrastructures. In this paper a description of the CASTOR-K code is presented, as well as a summary of the most important results obtained with this code and a description of the new improvements being implemented.

Immobilization devices may be a valuable aid to ensure the improved effectiveness of radiotherapy treatments where constraining the movements of specific anatomical segments is crucial. This need is also present in other situations, specifically when the superposition of various medical images is required for fine identification and characterization of some pathologies. Because of their structural characteristics, existing head immobilization systems may be claustrophobic and very uncomfortable for patients, during both the modeling and usage stages. Because of this, it is important to minimize all the discomforts related to the mask to alleviate patients’ distress and to simultaneously guarantee and maximize the restraint effectiveness of the mask. In the present work, various head immobilization mask models are proposed based on geometrical information extracted from computerized tomography images and from 3D laser scanning point clouds. These models also consider the corresponding connection to a radiotherapy table, as this connection is easily altered to accommodate various manufacturers’ solutions. A set of materials used in the radiotherapy field is considered to allow the assessment of the stiffness and strength of the masks when submitted to typical loadings.

Copper lined wave shaped shaped charges of particular design and liner metallurgy were used to investigate the effect of explosive crystal size on the resultant shaped charge jet *** A3 with RDX of three different average crystal sizes,i.e.30μm,100μm and 300μm were used in the *** other parameters in the charge were kept constant and in particular,care was given to obtain consistent dimensional quality and liner microstructure,in order to prohibit the variation of other *** flash-X-ray diagnostics were used in field tests to obtain the jet parameters from multiple firings of similar *** is found that the varying crystal size of the RDX has a marginal influence in the total jet length of the ***,it is also found that there is less variation between firings in the jet parameters for jets from the charges loaded with the crystal size of 100 μm.

In this study,we implemented the type Ⅱ seesaw mechanism into the framework of the U(l)B-L gauge *** achieve this,we added a scalar triplet,A,to the canonical particle content of the U(l)B-Lgauge *** imposing that the U(l)B-L gauge symmetry be spontaneously broken at TeV scale,we show that the type Ⅱ seesaw mechanism is realized at an intermediate energy scale,more precisely,at approximately 109 *** prevent heavy right-handed neutrinos from disturbing the mechanism,we evoke a Z2 discrete ***,as a result,we have standard neutrinos with mass around eV scale and right-handed neutrinos with mass in TeV scale,with the lightest one fulfilling the condition of dark *** developed all of these in this *** addition,we show that the neutral component of Δ may perform unproblematic non-minimal inflation with loss of unitarity.

The coal cleat system:A new approach to its study

After a general analysis regarding the concept of coal ＂cleat system＂, its genetic origin and practical applications to coalbed methane （CBM） commercial production and to C02 geological sequestration projects, the authors have developed a method to answer, quickly and accurately in accordance with the industrial practice and needs, the following yet unanswered questions：（1） how to define the spatial orientation of the different classes of cleats presented in a coal seam and （2） how to determine the frequency of their connectivites. The new available and presented techniques to answer these questions have a strong computer based tool （geographic information system, GIS）, able to build a complete georeferentiated database, which will allow to three-dimensionally locate the laboratory samples in the coalfield. It will also allow to better understand the coal cleat system and consequently to recognize the best pathways to gas flow through the coal seam. Such knowledge is considered crucial for understanding what is likely to be the most efficient opening of cleat network, then allowing the injection with the right spatial orientation, of pressurized fluids in order to directly drain the maximum amount of gas flow to a CBM exploitation well. The method is also applicable to the CO2 geological sequestration technologies and operations corresponding to the injection of CO2 sequestered from industrial plants in coal seams of abandoned coal mines or deep coal seams.
