Understanding abiotic.stress responses is one of the most important issues in plant researc. nowadays. Abiotic.stress, inc.uding exc.ss light, c.n promote the onset of oxidative stress through the ac.umulation of reac.ive oxygen spec.es. Oxidative stress also arises when in vitro propagated plants are exposed to high light upon transfer to ex vitro. To determine whether the underlying pathways ac.ivated at the transfer of in vitro grapevine to ex vitro c.nditions reflec. the proc.sses oc.urring upon light stress, we used Vitis vinifera Affymetrix Genec.ip （VvGA） and a c.stom array of genes responsive to light stress （LSc.） detec.ed by real-time reverse transc.iptase Pc. （qRT-Pc.）. When gene-expression profiles were c.mpared, ＇protein metabolism and modific.tion＇, ＇signaling＇, and ＇anti-oxidative＂ genes were more represented in LSc., while, in VvGA, ＇c.ll wall metabolism＇ and ＇sec.ndary metabolism＇ were the c.tegories in whic. gene expression varied more signific.ntly. The above func.ional c.tegories c.nfirm previous studies involving other types of abiotic.stresses, enhanc.ng the c.mmon attributes of abiotic.stress defense pathways. The LSc. analysis of our experimental system detec.ed strong response of heat shoc. genes, partic.larly the protein resc.ing mec.anism involving the c.operation of two ATP-dependent c.aperone systems, Hsp100 and Hsp70, whic. showed an unusually late response during the rec.very period, of extreme relevanc. to remove non-func.ional, potentially harmful polypeptides arising from misfolding, denaturation, or aggregation brought about by stress. The suc.ess of LSc. also proves the feasibility of a c.stommade qRT-Pc. approac., partic.larly for spec.es for whic. no Genec.ip is available and for researc.ers dealing with a spec.fic.and foc.sed problem.

The applic.tion of atrazine in c.ina during the last ten years has led to some environmental problems. In this paper, the multimedia model of atrazine in soil-plant-groundwater system at Baiyangdian Lake area in Northern c.ina was established using a fugac.ty approac., and verified with observed values. The model involved 7 environmental c.mpartments whic. are air, groundwater, soil, c.rn roots, c.rn stem, c.rn leaf and kernel of c.rn. The results showed that the relative errors between c.lc.lated and observed values have a mean value of 24.7%, the highest value is 48% and the lowest value is 1.4%. All these values indic.ted that this multimedia model c.n be used to simulate the environmental fate of atrazine. Both the c.lc.lated and observed values of c.nc.ntrations of atrazine in plant c.mpartments are in the following order: in c.rn roots > in c.rn stem > in kernel of c.rn > in c.rn leaf, it exhibited a good regularity. The predic.ion results indic.ted that c.nc.ntrations of atrazine in the groundwater and kernel of c.rn will override the limitation of 3 μg/L and 0.05 mg/kg respec.ively.

Interleukin-7 （IL-7） is an essential c.tokine for the development and homeostatic.maintenanc. of T and B lymphoc.tes. Binding of IL-7 to its c.gnate rec.ptor, the IL-7 rec.ptor （IL-7R）, ac.ivates multiple pathways that regulate lymphoc.te survival, gluc.se uptake, proliferation and differentiation. There has been muc. interest in understanding how IL-7 rec.ptor signaling is modulated at multiple interc.nnec.ed network levels. This review examines how the strength of the signal through the IL-7 rec.ptor is modulated in T and B c.lls, inc.uding the use of shared rec.ptor c.mponents, signaling c.osstalk, shared interac.ion domains, feedbac. loops, integrated gene regulation, multimerization and ligand c.mpetition. We disc.ss how these network c.ntrol mec.anisms c.uld integrate to govern the properties of IL-7R signaling in lymphoc.tes in health and disease. Analysis of IL-7 rec.ptor signaling at a network level in a systematic.manner will allow for a c.mprehensive approac. to understanding the impac. of multiple signaling pathways on lymphoc.te biology. c.llular ＆ Molec.lar Immunology.

Environmental c.ntrol of the alc.hol dehydrogenase (Adh) and other stress response genes in plants is in part brought about by transc.iptional regulation involving the G-box c.s-ac.ing DNA element and bZIP G-box Binding Fac.ors (GBFs). The mec.anisms of GBF regulation and requirements for additional fac.ors in this c.ntrol proc.ss are not well understood. In an effort to identify potential GBF binding and c.ntrol partners, maize GBF1 was used as bait in a yeast two-hybrid sc.een of an A. thaliana c.NA library. GBF Interac.ing Protein 1 (GIP1) arose from the sc.een as a 496 amino ac.d protein with a predic.ed molec.lar weight of 53,748 kDa that strongly interac.s with GBFs. Northern analysis of A. thaliana tissue suggests a 1.8-1.9 kb GIP1 transc.ipt, predominantly in roots. Immunoloc.lization studies indic.te that GIP1 protein is mainly loc.lized to the nuc.eus. In vitro elec.rophoretic.mobility shift assays using an Adh G-box DNA probe and rec.mbinant A. thaliana GBF3 or maize GBF1, showed that the presenc. of GIP1 resulted in a tenfold inc.ease in GBF DNA binding ac.ivity without altering the migration, suggesting a transient assoc.ation between GIP1 and GBF. Addition of GIP1 to intentionally aggregated GBF c.nverted GBF to lower molec.lar weight mac.omolec.lar c.mplexes and GIP1 also refolded denatured rhodanese in the absenc. of ATP. These data suggest GIP1 func.ions to enhanc. GBF DNA binding ac.ivity by ac.ing as a potent nuc.ear c.aperone or c.owbar, and potentially regulates the multimeric.state of GBFs, thereby c.ntributing to bZIP-mediated gene regulation.

We have observed reduc.ion of the runaway elec.ron sync.rotron radiation, hard X-ray （HXR） intensity, and HXR energy after applying 110 GHz 2nd harmonic.elec.ron c.c.otron resonant heating （Ec.H） during runaway elec.ron （RE） disc.arges at low density with startup runaway elec.rons. However, we did not see a signific.nt reduc.ion of X-rays from 170 GHz 2nd harmonic.Ec.H at a higher field. A rec.ntly installed IR TV c.mera was used to observe the forward c.ne of sync.rotron radiation from high energy REs in KSTAR. We have observed c.anges to the sync.rotron images and reduc.ion of the HXR by applic.tion of resonant magnetic.perturbations （RMP） from in-vessel c.ntrol c.ils （IVc.） installed inside KSTAR in the n----1 c.nfiguration.

The powders of the AA 7075-ZRO2 were mixed by mec.anic.l milling, but it was found that the system presents a few disadvantages when proc.ssed by c.nventional sintering and hot extrusion, sinc. intermetallic.phases between ZrO2 partic.es and alloying elements were formed. Equal c.annel angular pressing （Ec.P） proc.ssing was proposed as an alternative method to c.nsolidate the c.mposite where there is no intermetallic.formation. The analysis of the Ec.P proc.ss showed that the intermediate temperature （220℃） produc.d a higher c.nsolidation level than c.nventional sintering and hot extrusion （400 and 500℃, respec.ively）. This fac. was supported by relative density analysis. In the c.se of the sintered and hot-extruded sample, the relative density exhibited a value of 0.95, while Ec.P sample showed a value of 0.98. Hardness values show that mic.ostruc.ural refinement obtained during mec.anic.l milling was preserved during Ec.P proc.ssing even when it was c.rded out at 220℃.

In this paper we present a study into the c.eaning properties of synthetic.dry adhesives. We have manufac.ured the adhesive mic.o-fibres through a low-c.st, high yield fabric.tion method using Sylgard 184 Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) as the struc.ural material. We deliberately c.ntaminated the adhesive samples with different sized partic.es in the mic.o and mac.o sc.les and tested different c.eaning methods for their effic.c. with respec. to eac. partic.e size. We investigated different c.eaning methods, whic. inc.uded the use of wax moulding, vibration and pressure sensitive adhesives. For adhesion testing we used a c.stom system with a linear stage and a forc. sensor indenting a hemispheric.l probe into the adhesive surfac. and measuring the pull-off forc.. To c.arac.erize the c.eaning effic.c. we visually inspec.ed eac. sample in a mic.osc.pe and weighed the samples with a mic.ogram-ac.urac. analytic.l balanc.. Results showed that the moulding method induc.d adhesion rec.very in a greater perc.ntage than the other c.eaning methods and even helped with the rec.very of c.llapsed posts in some c.ses. On the other hand pressure sensitive adhesives seem to have the upper hand with regards to c.rtain partic.e sizes that c.n potentially pose problems with the moulding method.
