Most microfluidic separation techniques rely largely on obj.ct size as a separation *** ability to separate micro-obj.cts based on their shape is crucial in various biomedical and chemical ***,we develop an ondemand,label-free acoustofluidic method to separate prolate ellipsoids from spherical microparticles based on traveling surface acoustic wave-induced acoustic radiation force and *** freely rotating non-spherical microobj.cts were aligned under the progressive acoustic field by the counterrotating radiation torque,and the maj.r axis of the prolate ellipsoids was parallel to the progressive wave *** specific alignment of the ellipsoidal particles resulted in a reduction in the cross-sectional area perpendicular to the wave *** a consequence,the acoustic back.cattering decreased,resulting in a decreased magnitude of the radiation *** the variation in radiation force,which depended on the micro-obj.ct morphology enabled the acoustofluidic shape-based *** conducted numerical simulations for the wave scattering of spherical and prolate obj.cts to elucidate the work.ng mechanism underlying the proposed method.A series of experiments with polystyrene microspheres,prolate ellipsoids,and peanut-shaped microparticles were performed for *** quantitative analysis of the separation efficiency,we confirmed the high purity and high recovery rate of the proposed acoustofluidic shapebased separation of *** a bioparticle,we utilize Thalassiosira eccentrica to perform shape-based separation,as the species has a variety of potential applications in drug delivery,biosensing,nanofabrication,bioencapsulation and immunoisolation.

Evaluation of a Wireless solar Powered Personal Weather station

We are evaluating dryland cotton production in Martin County, Texas, measuring cotton lint yield per unit of rainfall. Our goal is to collect rainfall data per 250 - 400 ha. Upon selection of a rainfall gauge, we realized that the cost of using, for example, a tipping buck.t-type rain gauge would be too expensive and thus searched for an alternative method. We selected an all-in-one commercially available weather station;hereafter, referred to as a Personal Weather station (PWs) that is both wireless and solar powered. Our obj.ctive was to evaluate average measurements of rainfall obtained with the PWs and to compare these to measurements obtained with an automatic weather station (AWs). For this purpose, we installed four PWs deployed within 20 m of the Plant stress and Water Conservation Meteorological Tower that was used as our AWs, located at UsDA-ARs Cropping systems research Laboratory, Lubbock. TX. In addition, we measured and compared hourly average values of short-wave irradiance (Rsub>gsub>), air temperature (Tsub>airsub>) and relative humidity (RH), and wind speed (Ws), and calculated values of dewpoint temperature (Tsub>dewsub>). This comparison was done over a 242-day period (1 October 2022-31 May 2023) and results indicated that there was no statistical difference in measurements of rainfall between the PWs and AWs. Hourly average values of Rsub>gsub> measured with the PWs and AWs agreed on clear days, but PWs measurements were higher on cloudy days. There was no statistical difference between PWs and AWs hourly average measurements of Tsub>airsub>, RH, and calculated Tsub>dewsub>. Hourly average measurements of Rsub>gsub> and Ws were more variable. We concluded that the PWs we selected will provide adequate values of rainfall and other weather variables to meet our goal of evaluating dryland cotton lint yield per unit rainfall.

Volume is an important attribute used in many forest management *** from 83 fixed-area plots located in central New Brunswick.Canada,are used to examine how different measures of stand-level diameter and height influence volume prediction using a stand-level variant of Honer's(1967)volume *** density was included in the models(Volume=f(Diameter,Height,Density))choice of diameter measure was more important than choice of height *** density was not included(Volume=f(Diameter,Height)),the opposite was *** models with density included,moment-based estimators of stand diameter and height performed better than all other *** models without density,largest tree estimators of stand diameter and height performed better than other *** overall best equation used quadratic mean diameter,Lorey's height,and density(root mean square error=5.26 m^3·ha^(-1);1.9%relative error).The best equation without density used mean diameter of the largest trees needed to calculate a stand density index of 400 and the mean height of the tallest 400 trees per ha(root mean square error=32.08 m^(3)·ha^(-1);11.8%relative error).The results of this study have some important implications for height subsampling and LiDAR-derived forest inventory analyses.

Assessment of Genetic Diversity in Nepalese Populations of <i>swertia chirayita</i>(Roxb. Ex Fleming) H. k.rst Using RAPD-PCR Technique

Owing to the high demand, swertia chirayita populations in the wild are being depleted beyond its regeneration capacity. s. chirayita is one of the most valuable medicinal plants of Nepal in trade. Present Molecular investigation was undertak.n to understand the level of genetic diversity in five s. chirayita populations of Nepal using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)-based Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique. Thirty four accessions of s. chirayita along with six outlier accessions were analyzed using 26 arbitrary primers. Of the total 285 amplified bands scored for s. chirayita, 263 bands (92.28%) were polymorphic. Two maj.r clusters were revealed in the phenogram generated from cluster analysis using NTsYs-PC software (version 2.21i) for the geographic populations under study. Principal Coordinate Analysis further substantiated the results of the phenograms. swertia chirayita populations from sank.uwasabha and Terathum were found to be genetically closest (68%, similar) whilst Nagarj.n and Terathum were found to be most distant (33%, similar).The high genetic polymorphism reflected in s. chirayita populations indicates the good survival potentiality and adaptability in changing environmental scenario. The results thus produced might be helpful to plant breeders for elite cultivar development. The RAPD-PCR technique is found to be the rapid and effective tool for genetic diversity assessment in s. chirayita populations and generated insights for the formulation of conservation strategy of this vulnerable species together with its phytochemical distinctiveness.

In semiconductor manufacturing process, probe station that is testing equipment is important. Inspection step is for detecting defects on semiconductor before the pack.ging. Probe card is a part of probe station and contains probe tip that contacts to semiconductor. Through probe tip, it can inspect defects of semiconductor. In this paper, optimization method is used with response surface analysis to design MEMs type probe tip. And fabricating probe tip uses mask.ess lithography, electro-plating and lapping process.

During vertebrate embryonic development,neural crest-derived ectomesenchyme within the maxillary prominences undergoes precisely coordinated proliferation and differentiation to give rise to diverse craniofacial structures,such as tooth and ***,the transcriptional regulatory network. underpinning such an intricate process have not been fully ***,we perform single-cell RNA-seq to comprehensively characterize the transcriptional dynamics during mouse maxillary development from embryonic day(E)*** single-cell transcriptome atlas of~28,000 cells uncovers mesenchymal cell populations representing distinct differentiating states and reveals their developmental traj.ctory,suggesting that the segregation of dental from the palatal mesenchyme occurs at ***,we identify a series of k.y transcription factors(TFs)associated with mesenchymal fate transitions and deduce the gene regulatory network. directed by these ***,our study provides important resources and insights for achieving a systems-level understanding of craniofacial morphogenesis and abnormality.
