Tracing founder haplotypes of Japanese apple varieties: application in genomic prediction and genome-wide association study

Haplotypes provide useful information for genomics-based approaches,genomic prediction,and genome-wide association *** a small number of superior founders have contributed largely to the breeding history of fruit trees,the information of founder haplotypes may be relevant for performing the genomics-based approaches in these *** this study,we proposed a method to estimate 14 haplotypes from 7 founders and automatically trace the haplotypes forward to apple parental(185 varieties)and breeding(659 F 1 individuals from 16 full-sib families)populations based on 11,786 single-nucleotide polymorphisms,by combining multiple ***,92%of the single-nucleotide polymorphisms information in the parental and breeding populations was characterized by the 14 founder *** use of founder haplotype information improved the accuracy of genomic prediction in 7 traits and the resolution of genome-wide association study in 13 out of 27 fruit quality traits analyzed in this *** also visualized the significant propagation of the founder haplotype with the largest genetic effect in genome-wide association study over the pedigree tree of the parental *** results suggest that the information of founder haplotypes can be useful for not only genetic improvement of fruit quality traits in apples but also for understanding the selection history of founder haplotypes in the breeding program of Japanese apple varieties.

The void evolution inα-Al2O3 irradiated by En≥1 MeV neutrons of 3×10^(20)cm^(-2) and post-annealed from 100°C to 1050°C has been studied by a positron annihilation lifetime *** void nucleation starts at 500°*** the annealing temperature region from 550℃ to 750℃,the radius of created voids keeps constant at a value of about 0.29 nm and the number of voids increases with increasing ***,the radius of voids increases rapidly with the increasing annealing temperature and reaches 1.21nm at 1050℃.

A major goal of research in biotechnology and nanotechnology is to develop assemblies of novel biomaterials that can be used in analytical, industrial, and therapeutic applications. The synthesis of DNA （oligodeoxyribonucleotide） has been described containing the biaryl-type nucleoside surrogates, 6-deamino-2＇-deoxy-6-（l-naphthyl） adenosine （AN） and 6-deamino-2＇-deoxy-6-（1-pyrenyl） adenosine （AP）. It is found that incorporation of multiple ATM or AP residues in the middle of DNA duplexes does not significantly destabilize the duplexes and that the fluorescence intensities of the oligonucleotides containing AN or Ap significantly increases in the duplexes formed.

No-touch isolation technique in emergency pancreaticoduodenectomy for neoplastic hemorrhage: Two case reports and review of literature

BACKGROUND Emergency pancreaticoduodenectomy(EPD)is a rare event for complex periam-pullary *** intraoperative blood loss is correlated with poor post-operative *** SUMMARY Two patients underwent EPD using a no-touch isolation technique,in which all arteries supplying the pancreatic head region were ligated and divided before manipulation of the pancreatic head and *** operative times were 220 and 239 min,and the blood loss was 70 and 270 g,*** patients were discharged on the 14^(th) and 10^(th) postoperative day,***-two patients underwent EPD for the treatment of neoplastic *** mean operative time was 361.6 min,and the mean blood loss was 747.3 *** comp-lication rate was 37.5%.The in-hospital mortality rate was 9.38%.CONCLUSION The no-touch isolation technique is feasible,safe,and effective for reducing intraoperative blood loss in EPD.

Interstitial Pneumonia in a 94-Year-Old Woman with MPO-ANCA Positive Vasculitis

The interstitial pneumonia (IP) associated with myeloperoxidase anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody (MPO-ANCA) showed characteristic histology dominated by usual IP pattern. We showed a 94-year-old woman, whose prognosis was poor by severity of IP by MPO-ANCA associated vasculitis. The median age at diagnosis of IP by MPO-ANCA associated vasculitis was over 60 years, with a male predominance. Most patients died related to respiratory insufficiency. Our case would be the oldest patient in IP by MPO-ANCA associated vasculitis in the literature.

The Japanese interplanetary probe Hayabusa2 was launched on December 3,2014 and the probe arrived at the vicinity of asteroid 162173 Ryugu on June 27,*** its 1.4 years of asteroid proximity phase,the probe successfully accomplished numbers of record-breaking achievements including two touchdowns and one artificial cratering experiment,which are highly expected to have secured surface and subsurface samples from the asteroid inside its sample container for the first time in *** Hayabusa2 spacecraft was designed not to orbit but to hover above the asteroid along the sub Earth *** orbital and geometrical configuration allows the spacecraft to utilize its high-gain antennas for telecommunication with the ground station on Earth while pointing its scientific observation and navigation sensors at the *** paper focuses on the regular station-keeping operation of Hayabusa2,which is called“home position”(HP)-keeping ***,together with the spacecraft design,an operation scheme called HP navigation(HPNAV),which includes a daily trajectory control and scientific observations as regular activities,is *** the description on the guidance,navigation,and control design as well as the framework of optical and radiometric navigation,the results of the HP-keeping operation including trajectory estimation and delta-V planning during the entire asteroid proximity phase are summarized and evaluated as a first ***,this paper states that the *** operation in the framework of HPNAV had succeeded without critical incidents,and the number of trajectory control delta-V was planned fficiently throughout the period.

Neural Activation by Milnacipran and Memory Extinction

Background: Among neurotransmitter influencing memory formation, the noradrenergic system has been recognized as an important system. Memory formation involves various regions including the prefrontal cortex, hippocampus, amygdala and septum. Method: We investigated the effects of milnacipran on passive avoidance task and evaluated Fos counting in the prefrontal cortex, hippocampus, septum, amygdala and nucleus accumbens. Results: The milnacipran-treated rats (20 mg/kg, 4 days) showed a significant decrease in the number of Fos-immunoreactive cells in the infralimbic portion of prefrontal cortex, the shell portion of nucleus accumbens and the CA1 region of hippocampus, but a significant increase in the Fos counts in the lateral septum with no changes in the Fos counts in the striatum and amygdala. The milnacipran-treated rats showed amelioration in memory extinction (although not statistically significant), but not in memory acquisition and consolidation in the passive avoidance test. Conclusion: The differential activation of the brain regions might be possible sites for ameliorating memory extinction as well as antidepressant effects.

BACKGROUND Goblet cell carcinoid(GCC)of the appendix is a rare tumor characterized by neuroendocrine and adenocarcinoma *** preoperative diagnosis is very difficult,with most patients complaining mainly of abdominal *** tomography shows swelling of the appendix,so diagnosis is usually made incidentally after appendectomy based on a preoperative diagnosis of *** if a patient undergoes preoperative colonoscopy,accurate endoscopic diagnosis is very difficult because GCC shows a submucosal growth pattern with invasion of the appendiceal *** SUMMARY Between 2017 and 2022,6 patients with GCC were treated in our *** presenting complaint for 5 of these 6 patients was abdominal *** 5 patients underwent appendectomy,including 4 for a preoperative diagnosis of appendicitis and the other for diagnosis and treatment of an appendiceal *** sixth patient presented with vomiting and underwent ileocecal resection for GCC diagnosed from preoperative *** 2 patients with GCC underwent colonoscopy,no neoplastic changes were *** of the six patients showed lymph node metastasis on pathological *** of the last followup(median:15 mo),all cases remained alive without *** As preoperative diagnosis of GCC is difficult,this possibility must be considered during surgical treatments for presumptive appendicitis.

基于野外考察和14C年代测定, 确定了3 2 ka BP以来念青唐古拉山东部则普冰川的冰进序列.新冰期冰进可明显分为3次: 即大拿[14C(3 242±101)a BP]、大拿顶[14C(1 920±110)^(1 540±85)aBP]和白同[14C(1 056±115)a BP]冰进.新冰期盛时, 则普冰川比现代长 6 9 km, 面积大 17 10 km2,雪线降低约157 m, 温度降低1 0~1 9 ℃. 小冰期可分出2次: 即15世纪或16世纪[14C(580±130)aBP]和19世纪[14C(197±80)a BP, (190±80)a BP]冰进. 小冰期盛时, 则普冰川比现代长 2 0 km, 面积大11 16 km2, 雪线降低约100 m, 温度降低0 65~1 23 ℃. 现代则普冰川, 冰面表碛特别发育, 其厚度亦很大, 冰舌末端退缩难以辨认. 但冰川减薄很强烈, 边缘两侧形成 2~3 道现代侧碛, 并高出现代冰面20~30 m. 对埋藏腐殖质土壤层和木炭碎屑经14C年代测定, 结果表明在(720±210)^(2 010±120)a BP间, 波堆藏布流域存在砍伐森林、开垦田地和放牧的人类活动.

Simultaneous Measurement of Neural Activities of Acute Mouse Hippocampal Slices Using Multi-Electrode Array System and Laser Confocal Calcium Imaging

Recently, non-invasive, real-time and multi-point measurement of neural activities has become possible by using a multi-electrode array (MEA). Another method for multi-point measurement is the fluorescent imaging technique using voltage indicator dyes or calcium indicator dyes. Especially, calcium imaging using fluorescent calcium indicator dyes is often more useful, because they exhibit larger changes in the fluorescence intensity than voltage indicator dyes and their fluorescence changes can be detect easily. Additionally, calcium signals play key roles in the brain function, such as the long-term potentiation (LTP) in the hippocampus, and calcium imaging can be a powerful tool to elucidate the brain function. In this study, we constructed a measurement apparatus combining the MEA system and laser confocal calcium imaging and simultaneously measured electric signals and calcium signals in acute mouse hippocampal slices. The obtained results showed the availability of the present method.
