Pulmonary Immune Responses to Aspergillus Fumigatus in Rats

Objective To evaluate immunologic mechanisms underlying Aspergillus fumigatus pulmonary infections in immunocompetent Dark Agouti （DA） and Albino Oxford （AO） rats recognized as being susceptible to some inflammatory diseases in different manners. Methods Lung fungal burden （quantitative colony forming units, CFU, assay）, leukocyte infiltration （histology, cell composition） and their function （phagocytosis, oxidative activity, CDllb adhesion molecule expression） and cytokine interferon-y （IFN-y） and interleukin-17 and -4 （IL-17 and IL-4） lung content were evaluated following infection （intratracheally, lxl07 conidia）. Results Slower reduction of fungal burden was observed in AO rats in comparison with that in DA rats, which was coincided with less intense histologically evident lung cell infiltration and leukocyte recovery as well as lower level of most of the their activities including intracellular myeloperoxidase activity, the capacity of nitroblue tetrazolium salt reduction and CDllb adhesion molecule expression （except for phagocytosis of conidia） in these rats. Differential patterns of changes in proinflammatory cytokine levels （unchanged levels of IFN-v and transient increase of IL-17 in AO rats vs continuous increase of both cytokines in DA rats） and unchanged levels of IL-4 were observed. Conclusion Genetically-based differences in the pattern of antifungal lung leukocyte activities and cytokine milieu, associated with differential efficiency of fungal elimination might be useful in the future use of rat models in studies of pulmonary aspergillosis.

The research was conducted on a sample of 237 perspective judokas with the objective of checking the efficiency of the factor analysis as an optimal method of establishing of the real structure of motor *** order to assess motor abilities 20 motor tests have been applied,which have been selected so that analysis could be done on the basis of second order *** the data in this study were processed at the Multidisciplinary Research Center,Faculty of Sport and Physical Education,University of Pristina through the system of data processing software *** structure analysis of motor dimensions indicates that three factors were obtained:the first factor is responsible for movement structuring,the second factor is for the excitation intensity regulation and the third is responsible for the excitation duration.

Influence of detergent on metabolic activity of fungi Aspergillus niger

The aim of this study was to find out, among grate variety of fungi species from wastewater these which are resistant to effects of detergent and its component, ethoxyl-oleyl-cetyl alcohol and sodium tripolyphosphate. On inoculated fungi specie grown in vitro condition, in the presence of mentioned pollutant, the metabolic changes of bioproduction of different organic compounds, in various aging step of fungi, have been investigated. The results indicated sig-nificant changes in bioproduction of amino ac-ids and proteins of Aspergillus niger cultivated in the presence of detergent and its component, compared with control experiment. The results suggest that bioremediation by Aspergillus ni-ger are promising for biodegradation of deter-gents in aquatic systems.

Altered blood chemistry, acid-base and electrolyte are suggested determinants of sleep disturbance, with frequent arousal at high altitude even in well and long-trained altitude marathon runners. In this sample of experienced altitude marathon runners with maximal aerobic power at sea level of 61.4 ± 2.7 ml/kg-1·min-1 we found that pO2 and percent of oxygen saturation (%SO2) were lower at2050 mand3480 mthan at sea level;pO2 was higher after 38 - 41 hours than after 30 - 31 hours of acclimatization at3480 m(P 2 decreased (P 2 and (P 2 at a sleeping altitude of3480 mwas lower (P Simple regression analysis disclosed a significant correlation between the changes in TST and the percent of REM sleep and the changes in %SpaO2 recorded during sleep (P 2 at higher altitude and the percent of W and of TST (P 2, tCO2 and [HCO3-] correlated negatively and significantly with the percent of REM sleep changes at high altitude (P 2 and pH and correlated negatively with the changes in %SO2, pCO2, tCO2, and [HCO3-] (P ++] and [BE] and negatively with the changes in buffered bases [BB] and [BEeffective] (P 2 and significantly and negatively with the changes in [K+] (P 2, tCO2, [HCO3-] and [K+]

Healthy biological activities in legume flours from industrial cooking

The legume consumption is increasing because this food represents a rich and sustainable source of plant proteins and biological activities considered effective in the prevention of some chronic diseases,including those *** the aim to characterize functional properties of some legume foodstuffs,the total polyphenolic content and the antioxidant,metal chelation and ACE-inhibitory activity contained in the flours from industrial cooking processes of eight legumes were analyzed using specific spectrophotometric *** results show that especially flours from cooked lentils and some beans represent a good source of *** estimated amount of chelating activity,ranging from 0.97(tondini bean)to 4.4(green lentil)micromoles of EDTA equivalents/g of flours,could contribute to the prevention of the accumulation in the body of heavy metals,representing a possible risk factor for respiratory infectious *** beans showed an ACE-inhibitory activity higher than chickpea and *** was estimated that 125 g of the bean flour with the highest activity contain an ACE-inhibitory activity corresponding to 25 mg of the drug captopril,representing the initial daily dosage recommended for the treatment of moderate high blood *** data could contribute to formulate personalized diets to address the needs of different subjects.

Current diagnostic approach to patients with adnexal masses: which tools are relevant in routine praxis?

Objective： The aim of the study was to investigate which anamnestic, laboratory and ultrasound parameters used in routine practice could predict the nature of adnexal mass, thus enabling referral to relevant specialist. Methods： Study involved the women treated for adnexal tumors throughout a period of 2 years. On admission, detailed anamnestic and laboratory data were obtained, expert ultrasound scan was performed, and power Doppler index （PDI）, risk of malignancy index （RMI） and body mass index （BMI） were calculated for all patients. Obtained data were related to histopathological findings, and statistically analyzed. Results： The study included 689 women （112 malignant, 544 benignant, and 33 borderline tumors）. Malignant and borderline tumors were more frequent in postmenopausal women （P=0.000）. Women who had benignant tumors had the lowest BMI （P=0.000）. There were significant （P〈0.05） differences among tumor types regarding erythrocyte sedimentation rate, CA125 and carcinoembryonic antigen （CEA） levels. Among ultrasound findings, larger tumor diameter and ascites were more frequent in malignant tumors （P=0.000）. Women with malignant tumors had highest values of RMI and PDI （P=0.000）. Conclusions： Anamnestic data, ultrasound parameters and laboratory analyses were all found to be good discriminating factors among malignant, benignant and borderline tumors.

Antiretroviral Therapy in HIV/HCV Co-Infection Italian Consensus Workshop

About 50% of people living with the HIV infection in Italy are co-infected with HCV. In this group of patients, the primary cause of mortality is liver disease, which accounts for up to 14% of deaths. HIV/HCV co-infection also exposes patients to a higher risk of progression to AIDS, a faster evolution towards cirrhosis, more frequent drug toxicity, and lower tolerance for antiretroviral therapy. Moreover, HCV infection can play a part in increasing immune system depression;neurological, cognitive and renal damage;and bone fragility. Hence an optimal antiretroviral regimen needs to be chosen for co-administration with anti-HCV therapy and timed appropriately to improve the prognosis of co-infected HIV/HCV patients. Unfortunately, however, data on the safety and efficacy of antiretroviral drugs in these patients is scarce, as are studies of pharmacokinetics in patients with advanced liver impairment. Furthermore, restoring adequate immune constitution seems not to slow the progression of liver disease, and the metabolic and hepatic toxicity of some antiretroviral drugs can even contribute to inflammatory and fibrogenic processes. It is therefore essential that HIV/HCV co-infected patients receive only medications capable of ensuring the best immune recovery but possessing the lowest potential to trigger immune reconstitution syndrome or hepatic and metabolic damage.

Antioxidant activity of six essential oils and its molecules in Ecuadorian Andean medicinal plants

Background:This research values the antioxidant activity and its responsible molecules in six essential oils from medicinal plants in the Ecuadorian ***:The chemical composition of essential oils was determined using gas chromatography coupled mass *** evaluated the antioxidant activity of essential oils was use tree spectrophotometric methods:diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH),2,2’-Azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid)(ABTS)andβ-Carotene bleaching *** essential oils with good activity were determined the responsible molecules using the Bioautographic HP-TLC-DPPH ***:The scavenging capacity of the radicals was assessed with DPPH and ABTS methods,the best results were found in the oils of *** IC_(50) DPPH 2.80 mg/ml and IC_(50) ABTS 0.205 mg/mL and in *** IC_(50) DPPH 12.972 mg/mL and IC_(50) ABTS 0.321 mg/mL,the results were compared with a pattern of natural reference in this case,the essential oil of *** IC_(50) DPPH 0.474 mg/mL and IC_(50) ABTS 0.272 mg/*** evaluation of the antioxidant activity was determined by theβ-carotene bleaching test,the most notable activity results were from *** IC_(50)0.119 mg/mL,*** IC_(50)0.062 mg/mL and *** IC_(50)0,064 mg/*** bioautography revealed the active molecules antioxidants in oils for *** were thymol acetate(7.73%)and carvacrol acetate(24.52%),for *** wasγ-muurolene(2.68%),and for *** Z-caryophyllene(2.99%),aristolochene(0.11%)and cis-cadin-4-en-7-ol(4.11%).Conclusion:The results of antioxidant activity shown in descending order that the essential oils of:***,*** and ***,are those with the highest activity using the DPPH and ABTS ***β-Carotene bleaching test method confirms the 3 oils as the most active in the following order:***,*** and *** antioxidant bioautographic study identified the molecules responsible for the activity in three essential oils with

Correlation between Ozone and Total VOCs in Printing Environment

In this study, indoor air quality （IAQ） assessments were carried out in a screen printing facility. The air sampling was conducted in press department, including two different types of screen printing machines： semi-automatic and automatic. Air samples were collected and analyzed in situ for 4 times, once per 2 hours, during working time of 8 hours. Analysis of the experimental data showed that ambient ozone concentrations slowly increases with the increasing of TVOCs concentration and intensive use of UV lamps during automatic screen printing process. Therefore, the detected concentration levels of ozone and VOCs were compared with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration （OSHA） and Serbian Regulation. Comparison of the two mentioned standard regulations, the ozone concentrations in indoor printing air were from 0.83 to 8.1 and 2.4 to 16.2 times higher in the relation to the prescribed PEL and maximum allowed concentration （MAC） values, respectively, while the concentrations of particular VOCs were much below the PEL prescribed by the OSHA.
