Magnesium lithospermate B possesses inhibitory activity on Na+,K+-ATPase and neuroprotective effects against ischemic stroke

Aim:To examine if magnesium lithospermate B （MLB） extracted from Danshen,thedried roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza,may act as an active component responsible forthe cardiac therapeutic effect of this traditional chinese herb via the same molecu-lar mechanism triggered by cardiac glycosides,such as ouabain and ***,we wanted to test if MLB may provide neuroprotection againstischemic stroke as observed for cardiac ***:Similarity in thechemical structure and molecular configuration between MLB and ouabain *** inhibition potency of MLB and ouabain on Na+,K+-ATPase activ-ity of a commercial product,as well as in purified membrane fractions from rat brainand heart tissues,was examined and *** effect of MLBagainst ischemic stroke was also evaluated using a cortical brain slice-basedassay ***:Dose-dependent inhibition on the commercial Na+,K+-ATPase equivalent to that for ouabain was observed for MLB of approximatelyhalf dosage by *** relative potency of ouabain and MLB was alsoobserved for their inhibition on Na+,K+-ATPase activity of plasma membranepurified from rat tissues,although these 2 inhibitors exhibited somewhat lowercompetence in these crude *** ischemic gerbil brains,post-treatment withMLB significantly reduced the infarct size,visualized by 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazoliumchloride staining,by approximately 55% when compared with the control ***:These results evidently suggest that the cardiac therapeutic effect ofDanshen should be at least partly attributed to the effective inhibition of Na+,K+-ATPase by MLB,and that MLB provides anti-ischemic neuroprotection in gerbilssubjected to focal ischemia and reperfusion.

This paper describes the development of an inorganic alternative to coal or coal replacement for bentonite bonded molds (greensand molding) and the realization in an operating foundry. Through a time period of 1.5 years, componenta Foundry changed in many steps from a classical green sand system to a coal free system, based on ENVIBOND developed in the GO-APIc project and further development as an S&B project. At componenta Foundry, the percentage of casting defects or scrap did not increase. There was a tendency of an increase in stress (scabbing) defects and of a decrease in penetration defects. Benzene emission is reduced by 40%, odor emission has lower values (not statistically proven). Visible is less smoke in the foundry, especially at the cooling line. The benefits for health and emissions are clearly seen.

culture-independent molecular techniques have demonstrated that the majority of the gut microbiota is *** of these molecular techniques to more accurately identify the indigenous gut microbiome has moved with great pace over recent years,leading to a substantial increase in understanding of gut microbial communities in both health and a number of disorders,including irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).Use of culture-independent molecular techniques already employed to characterise faecal and,to a lesser extent,colonic mucosal microbial populations in IBS,without reliance on insensitive,traditional microbiological culture techniques,has the potential to more accurately determine microbial composition in the small intestine of patients with this disorder,at least that occurring proximally and within reach of *** data concerning culture-based and culture-independent analyses of the small intestinal microbiome in IBS are considered here.

High-quality and large-scale growth of monolayer molybdenum disulfide(MoS2)has caught intensive attention because of its potential in many applications due to unique electronic ***,we report the wafer-scale growth of high-quality mono layer MoS2 on singlecrystalline sapphire and also on SiO2 substrates by a facile metal-organic chemical vapor deposit!on(MOcVD)*** to growth,an aqueous solution of sodium molybdate(Na2MoO4)is spun onto the substrates as the molybdenum precursor and diethyl sulfide((c2H5)2S)is used as the sulfur precursor duri ng the *** grown MoS2 films exhibit crystal I i nity,good electrical performa nee(electro n mobility of 22 cm2·V^-1·s^-1)and structural continuity maintained over the entire *** sapphire substrates are reusable for subsequent *** same method is applied for the synthesis of tungsten disulfide(WS2).Our work provides a facile,reproducible and cost-efficient method for the scalable fabricati on of high-quality mono layer MoS2 for versatile applicati ons,such as electro nic and optoelectr onic devices as well as the membranes for desalination and power generation.

This research looked at how the Igbo trade apprenticeship programme has helped lower poverty rates in that region of *** hypotheses were generated to test the potential existence of a causal connection between the independent and dependent *** a survey methodology,a structured questionnaire was used to collect data,which was then evaluated using chi-square *** research found that the Igbo trade apprenticeship system contributed to lessening poverty in Nigeria’s *** to the results,the method was successful in developing rich Igbo entrepreneurs and businesses,who in turn eradicated hunger,poverty,disease,and unemployment in Nigeria’s South *** study concluded that the Nigerian government might better protect its citizens from exploitation within the Igbo trade apprenticeship system if it passed legislation to regulate,maintain,and prevent such abuse.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) has many protean *** of the most vexing have to do with the *** affects the tracheobronchial tree directly,leading to aspiration pneumonia and asthma,or exacerbating existing pulmonary disease,such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary *** addition to the respiratory manifestation of GERD,there are unique pharyngeal and laryngeal *** include voice hoarseness,throat-clearing,chronic cough,globus,and "post-nasal drip".Linking these symptoms to GERD is challenging and frequently the diagnosis is that of *** proton pump inhibitor therapy being the mainstay of treatment,with anti-reflux surgery being reserved for intractable cases,there is no definitive evidence of the superiority of either.

The "5·12" Wenchuan Earthquake presents two challenges-reconstruction of the devastated areas and building adequate seismic resistance into the rest of *** stages in recovery include structural condition assessment,identification of seismic weaknesses,appreciation of the variable seismicity of PR china,the development of a seismic performance index to aid the decision to relocate,rebuild or retrofit,development and application of the principles of retrofitting which recycles rubble and waste from Wenchuan "5·12",with an emphasis on integrating masonry construction into seismic *** recovery and resilience achieved through structural engineering must be integrated into a broader community involvement in disaster risk reduction.

AIM:To compare the laparoscopic and the open gastrectomy approaches for short term morbidity,length of hospital stay and also long term gastrointestinal ***:Patients who have undergone gastrectomy had their medical records reviewed for demographic data,type of gastrectomy,short term morbidity,and length of hospital *** were contacted and asked to complete the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale(GSRS).The GSRS measures three domains of GI symptoms:Dyspepsia Syndrome(DS) for the foregut(best score 0,worse score 15),indigestion syndrome(IS) for the midgut(best score 0,worse score 12),and bowel dysfunction syndrome(BDS) for the hindgut(best score 0,worse score 16).Statistical analysis was done using the Mann-Whitney ***:We had complete data on 32 patients:7 laparoscopic and 25 *** these,25 had a gastroenteric anastomosis and 6 did *** table shows the results as medians with interquartile *** gastrectomy had a better score than open gastrectomy in the DS domain(0 vs 1,P = 0.02),while gastrectomy without anastomosis had a better score than gastrectomy with anastomosis in the IS domain(0 vs 1,P = 0.05).cONcLUSION:Patients have little adverse gastroin-testinal symptoms and preserve good gastrointestinal function after undergoing any type of *** approach had better dyspepsia and foregut *** an anastomosis led to mild adverse midgut and indigestion
