Platelets are anucleate fragments mainly involved in hemostasis and thrombosis,and there is emerging evidence that platelets have other nonhemostatic potentials in inflammation,angiogenesis,regeneration and ischemia/reperfusion injury(I/R injury),which are involved in the physiological and pathological processes during living donor liver transplantation(LDLT).LDLT is sometimes associated with impaired regeneration and severe I/R injury,leading to postoperative complications and decreased patient *** studies have suggested that perioperative thrombocytopenia is associated with poor graft regeneration and postoperative morbidity in the short and long term after *** it is not fully understood whether thrombocytopenia is the cause or result,increasing platelet counts are frequently suggested to improve posttransplant outcomes in clinical *** on rodent experiments,previous studies have identified that platelets stimulate liver regeneration after partial ***,the role of platelets in LDLT is controversial,as platelets are supposed to aggravate I/R injury in the ***,a rat model of partial liver transplantation(LT)was used to demonstrate that thrombopoietin-induced thrombocytosis prior to surgery accelerated graft regeneration and improved the survival rate after *** was clarified that platelet-derived liver regeneration outweighed the associated risk of I/R injury after partial *** strategies to increase perioperative platelet counts,such as thrombopoietin,thrombopoietin receptor agonist and platelet transfusion,may improve graft regeneration and survival after LDLT.

Broken and cracked eggshells cause major economic losses to the egg production industry. An F2 population of 262 hens obtained by crossing a strong egg shell line with a weak egg shell line of the White Leghorn breed was used for detecting the quantitative trait loci （QTL） affecting eggshell quality. The 2 lines were developed from the same founder population by two-way selection for egg shell strength with nondestructive deformation. Of the 1 014 microsatellite markers tested, 35 were mapped on 10 autosomal linkage groups. There was no informative marker on chromosome Z. The QTLs associated with 7 traits, i.e., body weight, short length of egg, long length of egg, eggshell strength, eggshell thickness （EST）, eggshell weight （ESW）, and egg weight （EW）, were identified. Highly significant （P〈0.01） QTLs associated with EST and ESW and a significant （P〈 0.05） QTL associated with EW were mapped to a region flanking ABR0545 and ABR0362 on chromosome 9. These QTLs are good candidates to be employed in the development of strategies for reducing the number of broken and cracked eggs in commercial layer houses by employing marker assisted selection.

The micro-ring like structured zinc oxide(ZnO) film was deposited on SnO_2: F coated glass substrate by sol-gel dip-coating technique with 1.0 g polyethylene glycol(PEG) content. The surface morphology of micro-ring structured ZnO film has been confirmed by the scanning electron microscope. This ZnO film is used to fabricate the solar cell with the help of ruthenium based dye and carbon counter electrode. The photoelectric and incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency was 1.17% and 48.4%, respectively. The DSC results have been compared with ZnO films prepared without PEG contents.

Combined assessment of myocardial damage and electrical disturbance in chronic heart failure

AIM To investigate feasibility of combined assessment of biochemical and electrophysiological myocardial impairment markers risk-stratifying patients with chronic heart failure(CHF). METHODS Serum levels of heart-type fatty acid binding protein(H-FABP) as a marker of ongoing myocardial damage and QRS duration on electrocardiogram were measured at admission in 322 consecutive patients with CHF. A prolonged QRS duration was defined as 120 ms or longer. The cut-off value for H-FABP level(4.5 ng/mL) was determined from a previous study. Patients were prospectively followed during a median follow up period of 534 d. The primary endpoint was cardiac deaths and rehospitalization for worsening *** There were 117 primary events, including 27 cardiac deaths and 90 rehospitalizations. Patients were stratified into four groups according to H-FABP level and QRS duration(≥ 120 ms). Multivariate analysis demonstrated that high H-FABP levels [hazard ratio(HR) = 1.745, P = 0.021] and QRS prolongation(HR1.612, P = 0.0258) were independent predictors of cardiac events. Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated that the combination of high H-FABP levels and QRS prolongation could be used to reliably stratify patients at high risk for cardiac events(log rank test P < 0.0001).CONCLUSION Combined assessment of myocardial damage and electrical disturbance can be used to risk-stratify patients with CHF.

Experimental vibrational spectra of heavy light XH stretching vibrations of simple molecules have been analyzed using the local mode *** addition,the bond dipole approach,which assumes that the transition dipole moment(TDM)of the XH stretching mode is aligned along the XH bond,has helped analyze experimental *** performed theoretical calculations of the XH stretching vibrations of HOD,HND^−,HCD,HSD,HPD^−,and HSiD using local mode model and multi-dimensional normal *** found that consistent with previous notions,a localized 1D picture to treat the XH stretching vibration is valid even for analyzing the TDM tilt *** addition,while the TDM of the OH stretching fundamental transition tilted away from the OH bond in the direction away from the OD bond,that for the XH stretching fundamental of HSD,HND^−,HPD^−,HCD,and HSiD tilted away from the OH bond but toward the OD *** shows that bond dipole approximation may not be a good approximation for the present systems and that the heavy atom X can affect the transition dipole moment *** variation of the dipole moment was analyzed using the atoms-in-molecule method.

Two-dimensional（2D） numerical simulations of thermochemical nonequilibrium inductively coupled plasma（ICP） flows inside a 10-kW inductively coupled plasma wind tunnel（ICPWT） were carried out with nitrogen as the working *** axisymmetric NavierStokes（N-S） equations coupled with magnetic vector potential equations were solved.A fourtemperature model including an improved electron-vibration relaxation time was used to model the internal energy exchange between electron and heavy *** third-order accuracy electron transport properties（3rd AETP） were applied to the simulations.A hybrid chemical kinetic model was adopted to model the chemical nonequilibrium *** flow characteristics such as thermal nonequilibrium,inductive discharge,effects of Lorentz force were made clear through the present *** was clarified that the thermal nonequilibrium model played an important role in properly predicting the temperature *** prediction accuracy can be improved by applying the 3rd AETP to the simulation for this ICPWT.
