Ectophylla alba is a tent-making bat that roosts in mixed-sex clusters comprising adults and *** goal was to determine the genetic identity of individuals belonging to different roosting *** tested the hypothesis of kin selection as a major force structuring group *** used 9 microsatellites designed for *** to determine the genetic identity and probability of parentage of *** analyzed parentage and kinship using the software ML-Relate,GenAIEx,and *** obtained relationship probabilities(0.5)revealed a clear maternal relationship between female adults and offspring with allele compatibility,and at least 5 relationships between male adults and *** found a low degree of relatedness within roosting *** roosting groups at different sites,the mean probability of a half-sibling relationship ranged from 0.214 to 0.244 and,for full-sibling relationship,from 0.383 to ***,adult individuals were poorly related within clusters,and kinship as an evolutionary force could not explain group membership.

Optimal Positioning Strategy for Multi-Camera Zooming Drones

In the context of multiple-target tracking and surveillance applications,this paper investigates the challenge of determining the optimal positioning of a single autonomous aerial vehicle or agent equipped with multiple independently-steerable zooming cameras to effectively monitor a set of targets of *** camera is dedicated to tracking a specific target or cluster of *** key innovation of this study,in comparison to existing approaches,lies in incorporating the zooming factor for the onboard cameras into the optimization *** enhancement offers greater flexibility during mission execution by allowing the autonomous agent to adjust the focal lengths of the onboard cameras,in exchange for varying real-world distances to the corresponding targets,thereby providing additional degrees of freedom to the optimization *** proposed optimization framework aims to strike a balance among various factors,including distance to the targets,verticality of viewpoints,and the required focal length for each *** primary focus of this paper is to establish the theoretical groundwork for addressing the non-convex nature of the optimization problem arising from these *** this end,we develop an original convex approximation *** paper also includes simulations of diverse scenarios,featuring varying numbers of onboard tracking cameras and target motion profiles,to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Model Identification and Control of Electromagnetic Actuation in Continuous Casting Process With Improved Quality

This paper presents an original theoretical framework to model steel material properties in continuous casting line process. Specific properties arising from non-Newtonian dynamics are herein used to indicate the natural convergence of distributed parameter systems to fractional order transfer function models. Data driven identification from a real continuous casting line is used to identify model of the electromagnetic actuator device to control flow velocity of liquid steel. To ensure product specifications, a fractional order control is designed and validated on the system. A projection of the closed loop performance onto the quality assessment at end production line is also given in this paper.

Hot corrosion mechanism of yttria-stabilized zirconia powder in the presence of molten Na_(2)SO_(4)+V_(2)O_(5) salts

The hot corrosion behavior of yttria-stabilized zirconia(YSZ)powder specimens exposed to Na_(2)SO_(4)/V_(2)O_(5) salts mixtures at high temperature was *** tests were carried out at 1000℃ for 10 h,the salt concentrations varied from 0.1 wt%to 1.00 wt%,and the Na_(2)SO_(4)/V_(2)O_(5) mass ratios were between 0.20 and 0.44 following a factorial design 22.X-ray diffraction(XRD)analyses of the tested samples showed with a confidence of95%that the mixture composed of 32 wt%Na_(2)SO_(4)+68 wt%V_(2)O_(5),and 1.00 wt% salt concentration led to high destabilization of the t’-YSZ phase and formation of YVO_(4) products.A second set of experiments were conducted to assess the influence of temperature on the hot corrosion response of the YSZ in the range between 490 and 1100℃.Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)experiments and Rietveld adjustments of XRD patterns showed that the mass loss of the samples varied with testing temperature and also that the major destabilization of tetragonal phase occurred at 900℃.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)outbreak has drawn the scientific community's attention to pre-existing metabolic conditions that could aggravate the infection,causing extended viral shedding,prolonged hospitalization,and high death *** dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)emerges as a surrogate for COVID-19 severity due to the constellation of metabolic alterations it *** review outlines the impact MAFLD exerts on COVID-19 severity in obese subjects,besides the possible mechanistic links to the poor *** data collected showed that MAFLD patients had poorer COVID-19 outcomes than non-MAFLD obese *** is generally accompanied by impaired glycemic control and systemic arterial hypertension,both of which can decompensate during the COVID-19 clinical ***,MAFLD subjects had higher plasma inflammatory marker concentrations than non-MAFLD subjects,which might be related to an intensified cytokine storm syndrome frequently associated with the need for mechanical ventilation and *** conclusion,MAFLD represents a higher risk than obesity for COVID-19 severity,resulting in poor outcomes and even progression to non-alcoholic *** should include MAFLD subjects in the high-risk group,intensify preventive measurements,and prioritize their vaccination.

On Universal Osher-Type Schemes for General Nonlinear Hyperbolic Conservation Laws

This paper is concerned with a new version of the Osher-Solomon Riemann solver and is based on a numerical integration of the path-dependent dissipation *** resulting scheme is much simpler than the original one and is applicable to general hyperbolic conservation laws,while retaining the attractive features of the original solver:the method is entropy-satisfying,differentiable and complete in the sense that it attributes a different numerical viscosity to each characteristic field,in particular to the intermediate ones,since the full eigenstructure of the underlying hyperbolic system is *** illustrate the potential of the proposed scheme we show applications to the following hyperbolic conservation laws:Euler equations of compressible gasdynamics with ideal gas and real gas equation of state,classical and relativistic MHD equations as well as the equations of nonlinear *** the knowledge of the authors,apart from the Euler equations with ideal gas,an Osher-type scheme has never been devised before for any of these complicated PDE *** our new general Riemann solver can be directly used as a building block of high order finite volume and discontinuous Galerkin schemes we also show the extension to higher order of accuracy and multiple space dimensions in the new framework of PNPM schemes on unstructured meshes recently proposed in[9].

We formulate a one-dimensional time-dependent non-linear mathematical model for some types of physiological fluid flow in collapsible tubes with discontinuous material *** resulting 6×6 hyperbolic system is analysed and the associated Riemann problem is solved *** the solution algorithm deals with idealised cases,it is nonetheless uniquely well-suited for assessing the performance of numerical methods intended for simulating more general ***,our model may be a useful starting point for numerical calculations of realistic flows involving rapid and discontinuous material property *** important example in mind is the simulation of blood flow in medium-to-large veins in ***,we also discuss some peculiarities of the model regarding the loss of strict hyperbolicity and *** particular we show an example in which the solution of the Riemann problem is non unique.

The Riemann Problem for the Dispersive Nonlinear Shallow Water Equations

The complete analytical solution of the Riemann problem for the homo-geneous Dispersive Nonlinear Shallow Water Equations [Antuono, Liapidevskii andBrocchini, Stud. Appl. Math., 122 (2009), pp. 1-28] is presented, for both wet-bed anddry-bed conditions. Moreover, such a set of hyperbolic and dispersive depth-averagedequations shows an interesting resonance phenomenon in the wave pattern of the solu-tion and we define conditions for the occurrence of resonance and present an algorithmto capture it. As an indirect check on the analytical solution we have carried out a de-tailed comparison with the numerical solution of the government equations obtainedfrom a dissipative method that does not make explicit use of the solution of the localRiemann problem.
