Chitin powder and chitin-aerogel were prepared from shrimp wastes and used to uptake Y^(3+)from aqueous solutions and concentrate this rare earth element from phosphogypsum(PG).Chitin aerogel displays a specific surface area of 945 m^(2)/g,while chitin powder is 3.6 m^(2)/g,which largely influences its adsorption *** the adsorption in synthetic solutions,the effect of pH on Y^(3+)removal is strong for chitin powder *** contrast,no big pH influence was detected for chitin *** interactions and chelation can highlight the proposed mechanism of Y^(3+)on chitin adsorbents for the powder and ***,in addition to these interactions,pore filling/pore diffusion is the main mechanism of Y^(3+)removal in the chitin *** aerogel is efficient in concentrating 8 times the Y^(3+)from PG,a very complex *** complex chitin aerogel-Y^(3+)can be a secondary source of rare earth elements for other applications.

This article contributes to developing an indicator-based vulnerability assessment framework for cultural heritage *** provides a vulnerability index for heritage sites potentially exposed to multiple hazards,including sudden-onset and slow-onset hazards,while considering climate change *** determining particular criteria and indicators,the Cultural Heritage Vulnerability Index incorporates structural and non-structural factors of the heritage site and its local and national *** assessment procedure was applied to the case of the Roman Ruins of Tróia in *** findings highlight those areas of sensitivity(e.g.,the existing deterioration patterns and types of foundation)and coping and adaptive capacities(e.g.,institutional setting and response plan)that significantly contribute to the level of vulnerability and *** results of vulnerability assessment will further enable determining priorities and developing risk mitigation and preparedness measures,in particular reducing structural sensitivity and promoting coping capacities.

通过对3块中太平洋铁锰结壳样品进行的生物地层学及其结构构造、元素地球化学剖面的综合研究发现,铁锰结壳的生长主要集中于两个形成环境存在差异分别由不同因素控制的形成阶段,一个是约25Ma以来其形成环境氧化程度由南极底层流(AABW)控制的对应于结壳新壳层的生长幕,另一个是渐新世之前其形成环境氧化程度由环赤道表中层洋流和高密度温盐表层水下沉控制的对应于结壳老壳层的生长幕,而在早、中渐新世处于两种环境的转换期,也正好是海退期、大洋低生产力期、低CCD和生物碳酸盐低产率期,形成结壳生长的主要生长间断。该研究成果对于进一步了解太平洋的古海洋、古环境演变有一定意义。

Emotional disturbances such as anxiety, fear, depression and aggression are often experienced by patients with temporal lobe epilepsy. These psychiatric symptoms may occur during or just after (postictal) a seizure;however, in some patients, they occur interictally (i.e. between seizures) and may profoundly change the individual’s personality. Aside from confirming that a significant proportion of temporal lobe epileptics do suffer from interictal abnormal emotionality, there has been little progress to date in identifying the fundamental nature of these disturbances. There is a lack of evidences regarding the influence of activation of emotiogenic structures and emotional behavior on development of seizures. Kindling is a commonly used animal model for study of interictal emotionality and the effects of kindling and human epilepsy on emotional behavior are the primary focus of investigators and not vice versa. Respectively, the interrelation between emotional and seizure reactions was studied in Wistar albino rats. In our study we tried to elucidate: can emotional behavior evoked by stimulation of the emotiogenic zones of the hypothalamus or of induction of acute pain stress modify manifestations of generalized seizures within the period where a “full” epileptic syndrom has been stable formed earlier? Our leading hypothesis is as follow: the emotional disturbances can be considered as the emergence of instinctive behavior with an adaptive significance of defense and as a by-product of the inhibitory processes that build up to protect against the future occurrence of seizures.

Impact of Cluster Thinning on Quality of“Malbec”Grapes in Encruzilhada do sul-Rs

The cultivar Malbec has been present’s good performance and quality in the south Half of Rio Grande do sul (Rs). In this context, we aimed to evaluate the quality of “Malbec” grapes in relation to the phytotechnical, physicochemical parameters and bioactive compounds under different intensities of cluster thinning in Encruzilhada do sul-Rs. The experiment was carried out in a commercial vineyard in the 2015/16 with the cultivar Malbec (Vitis vinifera L.) under rootstock “1103 Paulsen”, with spacing of 2.2 m between rows and 1.1 m between plants. The experimental design was of randomized complete blocks with five replications. The treatment factor tested was the cluster thinning, with four levels (0%, 10%, 30% and 50%), performed in véraison. The evaluated phytotechnical variables were cluster length, cluster fresh weight, berries fresh weight, number of berries, rachis fresh weight. Also what were determined are the number of clusters, production and Ravaz index. The physicochemical variables verified were pH, soluble solids (ss), titratable acidity (TA) and ss/TA ratio. The bioactive compounds were total polyphenols index and total anthocyanins. The appropriate balance between source and sink, by the Ravaz index, occurs to zero and 10% of cluster thinning. The “Malbec” grapes present an increase of the maturation index (ss/TA) at 50% of cluster thinning, due to the low titratable acidity at this level. The total polyphenols index has a larger increment when the plants are submitted to the cluster thinning of 10%, providing a larger quality to the fruits. At all the levels of cluster thinning tested, when compared to the control, there was a greater contribution of total anthocyanins in the berries.

Flotation of Brazilian and Colombian Coals Using a Negative Bias

Brazil and Colombia have large reserves of coal. Those reserves in Brazil are located predominantly in the south and the main reserves in Colombia are located in the north. despite the relative ease of exploitation, these resources have been underestimated as a source of energy. Currently, these countries are developing projects and partnerships aiming to qualify this mineral resource, adding quality to the final product of the processing plants. In this scenario, the processing of Brazilian and Colombian coal in flotation columns appears as a promising alternative, having been successful in mineral systems containing fine particles. The paper aims to study the overall process of column flotation for a specific Brazilian coal and a specific Colombian coal. The material used in this study consists of fine coal from Brazil （Copelmi） and Colombia （Cerrejon）. The objective is to recover carbonaceous matter and reduce the ash and contaminants grade. The two coals were floated using a negative bias in a 5 cm diameter conventional flotation column of 5 m high. Flotation parameter investigated included air velocity in the range 0.6 to 1.5 cm/s. For all runs, a constant negative bias of-0.25 cm/s and a pulp concentration of 8% w/w were used. For Cerrej6n coal, 300 g/ton of frother and 907 g/ton of collector was used, whereas for Copelmi coal, 600 g/ton of frother and 1,815 g/ton of collector was employed. The frother was a commercial Aerofroth 65 （AF65）, whereas the collector was Kerosene. For the Colombian coal, in general, yield, organic recovery, ash recovery and water recovery decreased with the increasing air rate. However, for Brazilian coal the air rate had no significant effect. For Colombian coal, the highest yield （60% w/w） and organic recovery （69% w/w） were obtained at the lowest air rate （0.6 cm/s）.

Background: Uterine leiomyomas are the commonest tumors of the genital tract. Growth factors seem to be implicated in the development of leiomyoma. Objective: To determine the insulin receptor (IR) tyrosine kinase activity-phosphorylation of exogenous substrate poly(Glu 4: Tyr 1)-and insulin receptor substrate 1 expression in normal myometrium and leiomyoma. study design: The study group consisted of 12 women with leiomyoma undergoing routine hysterectomy. samples of leiomyoma and adjacent normal myometrium were obtained at the time of operation. Plasma membrane fractions were prepared and samples were incubated with and without insulin and incubated with exogenous substrate poly(Glu 4: Tyr 1). IRs-1 expression was studied in the whole lysate via Western blotting using specific antibodies. Data were analyzed using student’s t test. Results: The phosphorylation of the exogenous substrate poly(Glu 4: Tyr 1) in myometrium (1.566 ±0.177) and in leiomyoma (1.98 ±0.612) were similar (P = 0.774). The IRs-1 levels in myometrium(0.190±0.022) and in leiomyoma (0.226 ±0.022) were not different (P = 0.184). Conclusions: There was no difference in IR tyrosine kinase activity (phosphoryla-tion of exogenous substrate) and IRs-1 expression between normal myometrium and leiomyomata. Other steps in the insulin signaling cascade require further study to investigate the role of insulin receptor in leiomyomata.
