The structural and functional description of protein-protein complexes and their comprehension is a key concept,not only to increase the scientific knowledge in basic terms but also for the application to the biomedical and pharmaceutical *** binding association between proteins is nowadays attribute to a few key residues at the interface–the *** complex between the RNase inhibitor(RI)and RNaseA protein provides an excellent system to study the role of the functional epitope as it is essential in various molecular recognition processes and constitute one of the tightest complexes *** energetic pattern of the interface is accomplished by computational alanine scanning mutagenesis and a dynamical characterization is accomplished by a detailed study of the molecular dynamical simulations.A special emphasis is given to the role of solvation across the interface and the shielding of warm-and hot-spots from water.

Due to the advancements in remote sensing technologies,the generation of hyperspectral imagery(HsI)gets significantly *** classification of HsI becomes a critical process in the domain of hyperspectral data *** massive availability of spectral and spatial details of HsI has offered a great opportunity to efficiently illustrate and recognize ground ***,deep learning(DL)models particularly,convolutional neural networks(CNNs)become useful for HsI classification owing to the effective feature representation and high *** this view,this paper introduces a new DL based Xception model for HsI analysis and classification,called Xcep-HsIC ***,the presented model utilizes a feature relation map learning(FRML)to identify the relationship among the hyperspectral features and explore many features for improved classifier ***,the DL based Xception model is applied as a feature extractor to derive a useful set of features from the FRML *** addition,kernel extreme learning machine(KELM)optimized by quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization(QPsO)is employed as a classification model,to identify the different set of class *** extensive set of simulations takes place on two benchmarks HsI dataset,namely Indian Pines and Pavia University *** obtained results ensured the effective performance of the XcepHsIC technique over the existing methods by attaining a maximum accuracy of 94.32%and 92.67%on the applied India Pines and Pavia University dataset respectively.

Magnetic fluids,also known as ferrofluids,are versatile functional materials with a wide range of *** applications span from industrial uses such as vacuum seals,actuators,and acoustic devices to medical uses,including serving as contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),delivering medications to specific locations within the body,and magnetic hyperthermia for cancer *** use of a non-wettable immiscible liquid substrate to support a layer of magnetic fluid opens up new possibilities for studying various fluid flows and related instabilities in multi-phase systems with both a free surface and an *** presence of two deformable boundaries within a ferrofluid layer significantly reduces the critical magnetic field strength required to transform the layer into an organized system of drops or polygonal figures evolving according to the intensity,frequency and direction of the considered magnetic *** paper experimentally investigates this problem by assuming a uniform magnetic field perpendicular to the *** specific subject has not been previously explored *** critical magnetic field intensity required to destabilize the ferrofluid layer is determined based on the layer’s thickness and the fluid’s initial magnetic *** is demonstrated that the critical magnetic field strength needed to disrupt the initially continuous ferrofluid layer increases with the layer’s ***,an increase in the ferrofluid’s magnetic susceptibility results in a decrease in the critical magnetic field *** emerging droplet structures are analyzed in terms of the number of drops,their size,and the periodicity of their *** number of droplets formed depends on the initial thickness of the layer,the presence or absence of a stable rupture in the upper layer,and the rate at which the magnetic field strength is increased to the critical value.A characteristic viscous time is proposed

Bacterial melanin promotes recovery after sciatic nerve injury in rats

Bacterial melanin, obtained from the mutant strain of Bacillus Thuringiensis, has been shown to promote recovery after central nervous system injury. It is hypothesized, in this study, that bacterial melanin can promote structural and functional recovery after peripheral nerve injury. Rats subjected to sciatic nerve transection were intramuscularly administered bacterial melanin. The sciatic nerve transected rats that did not receive intramuscular administration of bacterial melanin served as controls. Behavior tests showed that compared to control rats, the time taken for instrumental conditioned reflex recovery was significantly shorter and the ability to keep the balance on the rotating bar was significantly better in bacterial melanin-treated rats. Histomor- phological tests showed that bacterial melanin promoted axon regeneration after sciatic nerve injury. These findings suggest that bacterial melanin exhibits neuroprotective effects on injured sciatic nerve, contributes to limb motor function recovery, and therefore can be used for rehabil- itation treatment of peripheral nerve injury.

Physiological and biochemical characteristic of Miscanthus×giganteus grown in heavy metal-oil sludge co-contaminated soil

The effect of oil sludge and zinc,present in soil both separately and as a mixture on the physiological and biochemical parameters of Miscanthus×giganteus plant was examined in a pot *** opposite effect of pollutants on the accumulation of plant biomass was established:in comparison with uncontaminated control the oil sludge increased,and Zn reduced the root and shoot *** sludge had an inhibitory effect on the plant photosynthetic apparatus,which intensified in the presence of *** specific antioxidant response of M.×giganteus to the presence of both pollutants was a marked increase in the activity of superoxide dismutase(mostly owing to oil sludge)and glutathione-s-transferase(mostly owing to zinc)in the *** participation of glutathione-s-transferase in the detoxification of both the organic and the inorganic pollutants was *** inhibited the activity of laccase-like oxidase,whereas oil sludge promoted laccase and ascorbate oxi-dase *** finding suggests that these enzymes play a part in the oxidative detox-ification of the organic *** both pollutants used jointly,Zn accumulation in the roots increased 6-fold,leading to increase in the efficiency of soil clean-up from the *** turn,Zn did not significantly affect the soil clean-up from oil *** study shows for the first time the effect of co-contamination of soil with oil sludge and Zn on the phys-iological and biochemical characteristics of the bioenergetic plant M.×*** data obtained are important for understanding the mechanisms of phytoremediation with this plant.

A lion-like pantherine felid is described as Panthera(Leo)fossilis from the late Early Pleistocene sediments of the Kuznetsk Basin(Western siberia,Russia).The find of *** first recorded in Asia considerably extends the current notion of the eastward expansion of the most ancient *** siberian lion is geologically the oldest form and is dimensionally among the largest members of the group of fossil lions on the Eurasian conti*** known by mandibular remains only,it is readily distinguished from Panthera(Leo)spelaea by a heavy built mandibular corpus with rectangular profile in the cheek teeth area,a deep,well-outlined and narrow anterior section of the masseteric fossa,and a largeр4 supported by a big unreduced anterior *** siberian lion shares these features with the European Middle Pleistocene *** and the American Late Pleistocene P.(Leo)atrox,which suggests their close *** originated from *** and was isolated in North America south of the Late Pleistocene ice *** explains why the American lion has retained more primitive features than the coeval Eurasian cave lion P.(L.)spelaea.

Ellagic acid induces apoptosis through inhibition of nuclear factor κB in pancreatic cancer cells

AIM： To determine the effect of ellagic acid on apoptosis and proliferation in pancreatic cancer cells and to determine the mechanism of the pro-survival effects of ellagic acid.METHODs： The effect of ellagic acid on apoptosis was assessed by measuring Phosphatidylserine externalization, caspase activity, mitochondrial membrane potential and DNA fragmentation; and proliferation by measuring DNA thymidine incorporation. Mitochondrial membrane potential was measured in permeabilized cells, and in isolated mitochondria. Nuclear factor κB （NF-κB） activity was measured by electromobility shift assay （EMsA）. REsULTs： We show that ellagic acid, a polyphenolic compound in fruits and berries, at concentrations 10 to 50 mmol/L stimulates apoptosis in human pancreatic adenocarcinoma cells. Further, ellagic acid decreases proliferation by up to 20-fold at 50 mmol/L. Ellagic acid stimulates the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis associated with mitochondrial depolarization, cytochrome C release, and the downstream caspase activation. Ellagic acid does not directly affect mitochondria. Ellagic acid dose-dependently decreased NF-κB binding activity. Furthermore, inhibition of NF-κB activity using IkB wild type plasmid prevented the effect of ellagic acid on apoptosis. CONCLUsION： Our data indicate that ellagic acid stimulates apoptosis through inhibition of the prosurvival transcription factor NF-κB.

We investigated the performance trade-offs of fleas(siphonaptera)while adapting to a novel host using two host generalists(Xenopsylla conformis and Xenopsylla ramesis)and one host specialist(Parapulex chephrenis)maintained on their principal hosts(Meriones crassus for Xenopsylla and Acomys cahirinus for ***).We asked whether,over generations,(i)a host generalist may become a specialist by evolving the ability to exploit a novel host and losing the ability to exploit an original host and(ii)a host specialist can become a generalist by evolving the ability to exploit a novel host without losing the ability to exploit an original *** established an experimental line of each species on a novel host(Acomys russatus for Xenopsylla and *** for ***)and maintained this line on this host during 23 *** compared reproductive performance of progenitors of each line and their descendants when they exploited either original or novel host in terms of egg number and size,hatching success,offspring production,and offspring *** found changes in performance over generations in female offspring size *** conformis demonstrated a tendency to become a host specialist(increased performance on the novel host with a concomitant decreased performance on the original host),whereas *** demonstrated a tendency to become a host generalist(increased performance on the novel host without a concomitant decreased performance on the original host).We conclude that the probability of generalist to specialist transition,and vice versa,is context-dependent and varies between species.
