Decision support system for agro-technology transfer (DSSAT), OIL CROP-SUN Model was used to stimulate the phenology, growth, yield of different two sunflower hybrids. i.e. Hysun-33 and S-78 by applying different nitrogen levels. The effect of nitrogen (N) on growth and yield components of different sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) hybrids were evaluated under agro-climatic conditions of Sargodha, Pakistan during spring 2013. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with split plot arrangement having three replications, keeping cultivars in the main plots and nitrogen levels (0, 45, 90,135 and 180 kg/ha) in sub plots. OIL CROP-SUN Model showed that the model was able to simulate the growth and yield of sunflower with an average of 10.44 error% between observed and simulate achene yield (AY). The result of simulation indicates that nitrogen rate of 180 kg/ha produced highest achene yield in S-78 hybrid as compared to other treatments and Hysun-33 cultivar.

Objectives: The relationship between autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) and renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is investigated to determine a link that would guide management due to elevated RCC risk. Current literature is inconclusive on this topic. Methods: This study is a retrospective chart review of patients having undergone nephrectomy. Those with pathology and history consistent with ADPKD were reviewed for presence of RCC. Results: The review at this institution revealed RCC in 18% of ADPKD patients who underwent nephrectomy. These rates are significantly higher than those found in the general population, and even greater than those would be expected in patients suffering end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Conclusions: Due to the increased prevalence of RCC in ADPKD, clinicians managing patients with ADPKD should maintain a high index of suspicion. Our data suggest a link between ADPKD and RCC, most likely at the genetic level. In light of this, we feel that further genetic research is needed to potentially discover the link between these two disease processes.

Drought is the most important factor limiting plant production in the majority of agricultural crops of the world. Wheat is generally grown on arid-agricultural fields. An experiment was conducted at the Plant physiology research area, Agronomic Research Institute Faisalabad, during winter 2010-11 to evaluate the effect of drought on wheat variety Lasani 2008. The experiment was comprised of following treatments. T1 Normal moisture (3 IR at CRS, Booting and grain filling), T2 No irrigation (only rainfed) control, T3 water spray (100 ppm), T4 ascorbic acid (100 ppm), T5 salicylic acid (100 ppm), T6 calcium chloride (100 ppm), T7 glycinbetain (100 ppm). According to the resulting data the treatment in which three irrigation were applied produced more no. of tillers (52%), spikelet per spike (41%), spike length (30%), grain per spike (58%), grain yield (54%), biological yield (35%) as compared to control. The treatment in which no irrigation was applied produced less no. of tillers, spikelet per spike, spike length, grain per spike, grain yield, biological yield. Thousand grain weight and harvest index were non significant among all treatments.

Association between Comorbidities and Selected Sociodemographic Factors with Complications of Diabetes: Results from the National Diabetic Registry Malaysia

Background: This study aims to determine the hazard ratio of having any complication from diabetes mellitus, and the associations between comorbidities and risk of having any complications from diabetes mellitus among diabetic patients who have attended government primary care clinics. Methods: Secondary data were retrieved from the Malaysian National Diabetic Registry which included all patients who received care. The data from the study on the socio-demographic, diabetes complications, clinical and treatment characteristics were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Cox regression was performed to estimate the hazard ratio for comorbidities, tobacco use, duration of diabetes and socio-demography characteristics upon time to diabetic complications. Results: Adjusted for other covariates, increase number of comorbidities contributed the highest hazard ratio risk: 1 comorbid (aHR: 2.47, 95% CI: 2.39, 2.55), 2 comorbidities (aHR: 4.34, 95% CI: 4.22, 4.47), 3 comorbidities (aHR: 6.56, 95% CI: 6.31, 6.81) and 4 comorbidities (aHR: 9.13, 95% CI: 8.20, 10.17). Other factors: age > 40 years (8%) Malays (27%) and smokers (10%) have hazard risks to develop diabetic complications. Conclusions: Increase in number of comorbidities will increase the risk of getting diabetes complications. Other factors such as age, gender, race, smoking status and duration of diabetes are also noted to contribute to increase risk for diabetes complications.

Dehydrating stresses trigger the accumulation of abscisic acid(ABA),a key plant stress-signaling hormone that activates Snf1-Related Kinases(SnRK2s)to mount adaptive ***,the regulatory circuits that terminate the SnRK2s signal relay after acclimation or post-stress conditions remain to be ***,we show that the desensitization of the ABA signal is achieved by the regulation of OST1(SnRK2.6)protein stability via the E3-ubiquitin ligase *** ABA signal,HOS15-induced degradation of OST1 is inhibited and stabilized OST1 promotes the stress *** the ABA signal terminates,protein phosphatases ABI1/2 promote rapid degradation of OST1 via ***,we found that even in the presence of ABA,OST1 levels are also depleted within hours of ABA signal *** unexpected dynamics of OST1 abundance are then resolved by systematic mathematical modeling,demonstrating a desensitizing feedback loop by which OST1-induced upregulation of ABI1/2 leads to the degradation of *** model illustrates the complex rheostat dynamics underlying the ABA-induced stress response and desensitization.

BACKGROUND Chronic kidney disease is associated with angiodysplasia of gastrointestinal tract leading to increased risk of gastrointestinal *** To determine the nationwide prevalence,trends,predictors and resource utilization of angiodysplasia-associated gastrointestinal bleeding in end-stage renal disease *** The Nationwide Inpatient Sample database from 2009 to 2014,was utilized to conduct a retrospective study on patients with angiodysplasia associatedgastrointestinal bleeding and end-stage renal *** with endstage renal disease were included in the Nationwide Inpatient Sample database and a subset of hospitalizations with end-stage renal disease and angiodysplasiaassociated gastrointestinal bleeding were identified with International Classification of Diseases,9th revision,Clinical Modification codes for both endstage renal disease(585.6)and angiodysplasia(569.85,537.83).RESULTS The prevalence of angiodysplasia-associated gastrointestinal bleeding was 0.45%(n=24709)among all end-stage renal disease patients(n=5505252)that were *** analysis indicated that the following were significant factors associated with higher odds of angiodysplasia associated-gastrointestinal bleeding in end-stage renal disease patients:an increasing trend from 2009-2014(P<0.01),increasing age(P<0.0001);African American race(P=0.0206);increasing Charlson-Deyo Comorbidity Index(P<0.01);hypertension(P<0.0001);and tobacco use(P<0.0001).Diabetes mellitus(P<0.0001)was associated with lower odds of angiodysplasia associated-gastrointestinal bleeding in end-stage renal disease *** comparison with urban teaching hospitals,rural and urban nonteaching hospitals were associated with decreased odds of angiodysplasia associated-gastrointestinal *** Angiodysplasia-associated gastrointestinal bleeding in end-stage renal disease patients showed an increasing trend from *** age,African American

Effect of taxifolin on cold-shock damages in spermatozoa in rabbits

Objective:To investigate the effect of taxifolin added to rabbit semen on freezing-induced cold-shock damages in ***:Semen was collected from six adult New Zealand rabbits once a week by artificial *** collected semen was pooled at 38℃ and divided into four equal *** were diluted with 0,50,100 and 200μM taxifolin-containing Tris+egg yolk extender at 38℃ and their temperatures were lowered to 4℃.Following equilibration,semen drawn into 0.25 mL straws were frozen in an automatic semen freezing device and stored in liquid nitrogen container at-196℃.Samples were thawed in 38℃ water for 25 s and the analyses of motility,kinematic parameters,morphological deformities,changes in membrane integrity,mitochondrial membrane potential,dead-live ratio,acrosomal damages and as well as oxidative stress analyses were performed in ***:Addition of 50μM taxifolin significantly improved motility(total,progressive,rapid and static),high mitochondrial membrane potential and the ratios of spermatozoa with acrosomal damage compared to the control *** to the control group,malondialdehyde(MDA)levels in the 50 and 100μM taxifolin groups were significantly lower,while the MDA level was high and viable spermatozoa ratio was low in the 200μM taxifolin *** were no significant differences between the groups in terms of kinematic parameters,morphological deformities,membrane integrity and antioxidant ***:The low dose of taxifolin(50μM)has a positive effect and the high dose(200μM)has a negative ***,it is concluded that the addition of low-dose(50μM)taxifolin to the extenders would be a useful additive in reducing cold-shock damage that occurs during freezing of rabbit semen.
