Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has become a worldwide *** patients of COVID-19 suffer from a high mortality rate,motivating the development of convenient and practical methods that allow clinicians to promptly identify high-risk ***,we have developed a risk score using clinical data from 1479 inpatients admitted to Tongji Hospital,Wuhan,china(development cohort)and externally validated with data from two other centers:141 inpatients from Jinyintan Hospital,Wuhan,china(validation cohort 1)and 432 inpatients from The Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen,Shenzhen,china(validation cohort 2).The risk score is based on three biomarkers that are readily available in routine blood samples and can easily be translated into a probability of *** risk score can predict the mortality of individual patients more than 12 d in advance with more than 90%accuracy across all ***,the Kaplan-Meier score shows that patients can be clearly differentiated upon admission as low,intermediate,or high risk,with an area under the curve(AUC)score of *** summary,a simple risk score has been validated to predict death in patients infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2);it has also been validated in independent cohorts.

Heat Transfer and Performance characteristics of Axial Cooling Fans with Downstream Guide Vanes

This study examines experimentally the effect of stators on the performance and heat transfer characteristics of small axial cooling fans. A single fan impeller, followed by nine stator blades in the case of a complete stage, was used for all the experimental configurations. Performance measurements were carried out in a constant speed stage performance test rig while the transient liquid crystal technique was used for the heat transfer measurements. Full surface heat transfer coefficient distributions were obtained by recording the temperature history of liquid crystals on a target plate. The experimental data indicated that the results are highly affected by the flow conditions at the fan outlet. Stators can be beneficial in terms of pressure drop and efficiency, and thus more economical operation, as well as, in the local heat transfer distribution at the wake of the stator blades if the fan is installed very close to the cooling object. However, as the separation distance increases, enhanced heat transfer rate in the order of 25% is observed in the case of the fan impeller.

AIM： To investigate the association between common single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） in inflammatory response-related genes such as interleukin （IL）-6, IL-8, tumor necrosis factor α （TNFα）, peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor γ （PPARγ）, intercellular adhesion molecule-1 （ICAM-1） and the risk of colorectal cancer （CRC） in a group of Greek patients. METHODS： The study group consisted of 222 CRC patients and 200 healthy controls. Genotyping was performed using allele-specific PCR of PRC-RFLP and the results were confirmed by sequencing. We studied the association of SNPs in the IL-6 （-174G 〉 C）, IL-8 （-251T 〉 A）, TNFα （-308G 〉 A）, ICAM-1 （R241G and K469E）, and PPARγ （Pro12Ala） genes and the risk of CRC. RESULTS： The IL-6 -174G, R241 and K469 alleles of ICAM-1 were associated with increased risk of CRC （OR = 1.77, 95% CI： 1.34-2.34; OR = 1.83, 95% CI： 1.23-2.72; and OR = 1.35, 95% CI： 1.03-1.77 respectively）. The IL-8 and TNFα polymorphisms had no effect. Whereas the PPARγ Pro12 genotype was associated with increased risk of disease （OR = 1.78, 95% CI： 1.25-2.49）. CONCLUSION： The association between common SNPs in immunologic response-related genes and CRC is reported in the present study. Apart from shedding light on the mechanisms of malignancy initiation and progression, SNPs may improve appropriate screening for sub-populations at risk.

Despite that organic-inorganic lead halide perovskites have attracted enormous scientific attention for energy conversion applications over the recent years,the influence of temperature and the type of the employed hole transport layer(HTL)on the charge carrier dynamics and recombination processes in perovskite photovoltaic devices is still largely *** particular,significant knowledge is missing on how these crucial parameters for radiative and non-radiative recombinations,as well as for efficient charge extraction vary among different perovskite crystalline phases that are induced by temperature ***,we perform micro photoluminescence(pPL)and ultrafast time resolved transient absorption spectroscopy(TAS)in Glass/Perovskite and two dierent Glass/ITO/HTL/Perovskite configurations at temperatures below room temperature,in order to probe the charge carrier dynamics of different perovskite crystalline phases,while considering also the effect of the employed HTL ***,ch_(3)NH_(3)Pbb films were deposited on Glass,PEDOT:PSS and PTAA polymers,and the developed Glass/ch_(3)NH_(3)PbI_(3)and Glass/ITO/HTL/ch_(3)NH_(3)PbI_(3)architectures were studied from 85 K up to 215 K in order to explore the charge extraction dynamics of the ch_(3)NH_(3)PbI_(3)orthorhombic and tetragonal crystalline *** is observed an unusual blueshift of the bandgap with temperature and the dual emission at temperature below of 100 K and also,that the charge carrier dynamics,as expressed by hole injection times and free carrier recombination rates,are strongly depended on the actual pervoskite crystal phase,as well as,from the selected hole transport material.
