Functional Tregs play a key role in tumor development and progression,representing a major barrier to anticancer *** mechanisms by which Tregs are generated in cancer and the influence of the tumor microenvironment on these processes remain incompletely ***,by using NMR,chemoenzymatic structural assays and a plethora of in vitro and in vivo functional analyses,we demonstrate that the tumoral carbohydrate A10(Ca10),a cell-surface carbohydrate derived from Ehrlich’s tumor(ET)cells,is a heparan sulfate-related proteoglycan that enhances glycolysis and promotes the development of tolerogenic features in human ***10-stimulated human DCs generate highly suppressive Tregs by mechanisms partially dependent on metabolic reprogramming,PD-L1,IL-10,and ***10 also reprograms the differentiation of human monocytes into DCs with tolerogenic *** solid ET-bearing mice,we found positive correlations between Ca10 serum levels,tumor size and splenic Treg *** of isolated Ca10 also increases the proportion of splenic Tregs in tumor-free ***,we provide evidence supporting the presence of a circulating human Ca10 counterpart(Ca10H)and show,for the first time,that serum levels of Ca10H are increased in patients suffering from different cancer types compared to healthy *** note,these levels are higher in prostate cancer patients with bone metastases than in prostate cancer patients without ***,we reveal novel molecular mechanisms by which heparan sulfate-related structures associated with tumor cells promote the generation of functional Tregs in *** discovery of this novel structural-functional relationship may open new avenues of research with important clinical implications in cancer treatment.

In this editorial,we comment on the article by Zeng et al published in the recent issue of the World Journal of Diabetes in *** focus on the epidemiological,pathophysiological,and clinical interplay between obesity and type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM).Overweight and obesity represent a growing threat for modern societies and people with T1DM could not be an exception to this *** exogenous insulin administration,genetic and epigenetic factors,and psy-chosocial and behavioral parameters,along with the modern way of life that incorporates unhealthy eating patterns and physical inactivity,set the stage for the increasing obesity rates in *** our knowledge of the underlying mechanisms that lead to the development of obesity and hyperglycemia expands,it becomes clear that there are overlap zones in the pathophysiology of the two main types of *** regarding strict dividing lines between“autoimmune”and“metabolic”phenotypes increase the risk of trapping physicians into ineffective therapeutic approaches,instead of individualized diabetes *** this context,the use of adjuncts to insulin therapy that have the potential to alleviate cardiorenal risk and decrease body weight can reduce the burden of obesity in patients with T1DM.

Traumatic lumbar hernia: A systematic review of the literature

Purpose:Traumatic lumbar hernia(TLH)constitutes a protrusion of content through a defect in the posterior abdominal wall,as a result of *** rare entity has been described in limited number of ***:A systematic review of the literature was performed according to the meta-analysis of observational studies in epidemiology *** English literature from 1990 until 2021 was reviewed,using PubMed,EMBASE and Google Scholar bibliographic databases,to identify case reports and case series with patients that were diagnosed with *** each eligible study,demographics,clinical presentation,hernia characteristics,preoperative imaging investigations,operation details,and postoperative data were extracted for *** analysis was performed on SPSS,version ***:A total of 62 studies were included for review,with 164 patients with *** age was(42.6±14.3)years(47.6%males,31.1%females,gender not specified in 35 cases).Mean diameter of hernia neck was(6.3±3.1)cm,while the triangles of Petit and Grynfeltt were affected in 74.5%and 14.6%,*** diagnosed in the emergency setting account for 54.2%,with CT scan establishing diagnosis in all but one case(97.7%).A delayed diagnosis was made in 45.8%,at a mean 1 year following *** bulging(82.8%)and chronic back pain(34.3%)were the most frequent *** both delayed and acute group,open surgery(63.6%and 92.3%,respectively)was the preferred surgical *** complications were reported in 11.4%of acute and 15.0%of delayed *** recurrence was 7%.Conclusions:TLH is uncommon with 164 cases described since *** scan is the gold standard in *** surgery is generally the preferred approach,particularly in the emergency *** TLH can be treated either by primary suture repair or mesh,depending on the local conditions,whereas delayed cases usually require a mesh.

Benefits of Dielectric Oil Regeneration Systems in Power Transmission Networks: A Case Study

The criticality of transformers and reactors in the power transmission network and the paramount importance of ensuring their reliability through maintenance of the insulating oil is known. This paper presents a comprehensive examination of the efficacy and economic viability of a dielectric oil regeneration system, as implemented by the Transmission System Maintenance Department (TSMD) of the Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO), Greece’s sole transmission operator. Through a detailed chemical analysis and performance evaluation, we assess the impact of the regeneration system on treated insulating oil quality over multiple cycles. The study reveals that the electrical properties of the insulating oil are fully restored after regeneration, negating the need to fully replace it, while the investment becomes cost-neutral within weeks from the commissioning of the regeneration system. This economic analysis, coupled with the system’s environmental benefits of reducing waste oil generation, positions the dielectric oil regeneration system as a compelling solution for the maintenance of power transmission assets.

In every emergency medical situation,access to emergency medical services is an inalienable right of any *** average acceptable time to provide first aid assistance is 60 *** this paper,the possibility of using helicopters for air travel in mountainous areas was examined for the first time for all of Greece and especially for a mountainous and isolated area such as the Municipality of ***,the time distance-virtual distance,from the hospitals was calculated at the national level of Greece,with an acceptable first contact time of 60 minutes(golden hour),i.e.,less than two hours from the nearest hospital to the incident and back to the hospital and the relevant conclusions are ***,the case study of Municipality of Agrafa,one of the most mountainous areas in Greece,was *** time distance of the settlements from the nearest primary health point,namely the Primary Health Centre(PHC)of West Fragkista,was calculated and the transportation by ground means was compared with the corresponding time by flying means,to investigate the contribution of air transportation or not,of the timely arrival of the patients in the appropriate health ***,possible helicopter landing locations were identified,using a geographic information system to facilitate the process of air medical transportation in the Municipality of Agrafa.

Ecosystem accounting has become one of the key components in the revision of international statistical *** of the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting for ecosystem services follows the rapid progress of science in this area as well as expanding applications to sustainability *** this contribution,we discuss approaches to accounting of ecosystem assets as a natural capital basis that is critical for ecosystem service *** on examples from the Czech Republic,a Central European country,we illustrate the construction of ecosystem extent accounts based on the methodology of Land and Ecosystem *** analysis is complemented by monetary ecosystem asset accounting through quantification of the present value of future ecosystem service *** condition is represented by the Mean Species Abundance indicator,which gauges the direction of ecosystem *** on the demonstration of approaches to ecosystem asset accounting,we discuss selected aspects of ecosystem condition measurements,valuation,and policy implications of ecosystem asset accounting at the national level.

NOD2/CARD15 , ATG16L1 and IL23R gene polymorphisms and childhood-onset of Crohn’s disease

AIM: To assess whether the polymorphisms of NOD2/ CARD15 , autophagy-related 16-like 1 (ATG16L1 ), and interleukin-23 receptor (IL23R ) genes play a more critical role in the susceptibility of childhood-onset than in adult-onset Crohn’s disease (CD). METHODS: Polymorphisms R702W, G908R, and 3020insC of NOD2/CARD15 ; rs2241880 A/G of ATG16L1 , and rs11209026 (R381Q) of IL23R gene were assessed in 110 childhood-onset CD, 364 adult-onset CD, and 539 healthy individuals. Analysis of polymorphisms R702W, G908R, and 3020insC of NOD2/CARD15 genotyping was performed by allele specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or by PCR-restriction fragment length polymor-phism analysis. The polymorphisms rs2241880 A/G of the ATG16L1 , and rs11209026 (R381Q) of the IL23R gene in the children’s cohort were genotyped by PCR and melting curve analysis whereas adult group genotyping was performed using the Affymetrix Genome-Wide Human SNP Array 5.0 (500K). RESULTS: The 3020insC allele in NOD2/CARD15 was significantly higher in childhood than in adult-onset CD (P = 0.0067). Association with at least 1 NOD2/CARD15 variant was specific for ileal disease (with or without co- lonic involvement). Even if the frequency of G allele of the rs2241880 ATG16L1 polymorphism was increased in both paediatric and adult CD patients compared to con- trols (P = 0.017 and P = 0.001, respectively), no difference was observed between the childhood and the adult cohort. The rare Q allele of IL23R rs11209026 polymorphism was underrepresented in both paediatric and adult CD cases (P = 0.0018 and P = 0.04, respectively) and no difference was observed between the childhood and the adult cohort. The presence of the rs2241880 ATG16L1 and rs11209026 IL23R polymorphisms did not influence disease phenotype. CONCLUSION: Polymorphism 3020insC in NOD2/ CARD15 occurs statistically significantly more often in patients with childhood-onset CD than in patients with adult-onset CD. Heart failure(HF)and atrial fibrillation(AF)demonstrate a constantly increasing prevalence during the 21st century worldwide,as a result of the aging population and the successful interventions of the clinical practice in the deterioration of adverse cardiovascular *** and AF share common risk factors and pathophysiological mechanisms,creating the base of a constant *** impairs systolic and diastolic function,resulting in the increasing incidence of HF,whereas the structural and neurohormonal changes in HF with preserved or reduced ejection fraction increase the possibility of the AF *** temporal relationship of the development of either condition affects the diagnostic algorithms,the prognosis and the ideal therapeutic strategy that leads to euvolaemia,management of noncardiovascular comorbidities,control of heart rate or restoration of sinus rate,ventricular synchronization,prevention of sudden death,stroke,embolism,or major bleeding and maintenance of a sustainable quality of *** indicated treatment for the concomitant HF and AF includes rate or/and rhythm control as well as thromboembolism prophylaxis,while the progress in the understanding of their pathophysiological interdependence and the introduction of the genetic profiling,create new paths in the diagnosis,the prognosis and the prevention of these diseases.
