Utilizing high-speed schlieren photography and particle-tracking-velocimetry,the wake flow of tethered houseflies is *** high-speed schlieren photography is implemented on tethered houseflies inside an air container with a stable vertical temperature gradient to visualize the disturbed wake flow from the *** resulting photography images were then processed with the physics based optical flow method to derive the light-path averaged flow ***,the state of the art:Shake-the-Box system is implemented on a tethered housefly to measure the volumetric flow field in the wake of the insect,revealing interesting flow behavior and structures that can also be observed and correlated to the schlieren photography *** the dimensionless velocity magnitude of the wake flow from the two experiments,a good qualitative agreement is reached,suggesting the viability of high-speed schlieren photography in investigating the wake flow of small ***,the high-speed schlieren photography is successfully applied on a housefly that is taking off from the ground,visualizing the disturbed wake flow on the freely flying insect that is challenging to visualize with other methods.

Researchers are paying increasing attention to the development of low-cost and microcontroller-based accelerometers,in order to make structural health monitoring feasible for conventional bridges with limited monitoring *** with the low-cost sensor development,the use of the embedded accelerometers of smartphones for eigenfrequency analysis of bridges is becoming popular in the civil engineering *** paper,for the first time in the literature,studies these two promising technologies by comparing the noise density and eigenfrequency analysis of a self-developed,validated and calibrated low-cost Internet of things based accelerometer LARA(low cost adaptable reliable accelerometer)with those of a state of the art smartphone(iPhone XR).The eigenfrequency analysis of a footbridge in San Sebastian,Spain,showed that the embedded accelerometer of the iPhone XR can measure the natural frequencies of the under study bridge.

Exoskeletons are mechatronic devices used to increase human muscle strength and resistance. In the last decade these devices have become a very useful tool to assist active kinesiotherapy. This paper presents the design of exoskeleton focused on the rehabilitation of ankle and knee for the right leg. The construction of prototype like Exoskeleton for Lower Limb Training with Instrumented Orthoses （ELLTIO） using Series Elastic Actuator （SEA） to reduce the effort in the human joints, and a control law to perform a rehabilitation routine using an adaptive control scheme were first implemented in simulation to verify the control strategy and make a real rehabilitation test. The adaptive control law is proposed with the intention that the exoskeleton can adapt to user parameters at the time when performing the exercise. The results show the parameters estimation and tracking trajectory for the exoskeleton were proposed, and this trajectory could be a routine rehabilitation proposed by the therapist.

Mdm2 and Mdm4 are negative regulators of the tumour suppressor p53; hence, this relationship is the focus of many cancerrelated studies. A multitude of experiments across various developmental stages have been conducted to explore the tissuespecific roles of these proteins in the mouse. When Mdm2 or Mdm4 are deleted in the germiine or specific tissues, they display different phenotypic defects, some of which lead to embryonic lethaLity. Mdm2 loss is often more deleterious than toss of its homotogue Mdm4. ALL tissues experience activation of p53 target genes upon toss of Mdm2 or Mdm4; however, the degree to which the p53 pathway is perturbed is highly tissue-specific and does not correlate to the severity of the morphological pheno- types. Therefore, a need for further understanding of how these proteins regulate p53 activity is warranted, as therapeutic targeting of the p53 pathway is rapidly evoLving and gaining attention in the field of cancer research. In this review, we discuss the tissue-specificity of Mdm proteins in regulating p53 and expose the need for investigation at the celt-specific level.
