Despite advances in renewable energy sources, the world's current infrastructure and consumption patterns still heavily depend on crude oil. Enhanced oil recovery(EOR) is a crucial method for significantly increasing the amount of crude oil extracted from mature and declining oil fields. Nanomaterials have shown great potential in improving EOR methods due to their unique properties, such as high surface area, tunable surface chemistry, and the ability to interact at the molecular level with fluids and rock surfaces. This study examines the potential use of incorporating ethoxylated molybdenum disulfide with a unique three-dimensional flower-like morphology for overcoming the challenges associated with oil recovery from reservoirs characterized by complex pore structures and low permeability. The synthesized nanomaterial features a chemical composition that encompasses a polar ethoxy group linking molybdenum disulfide nanosheets and an alkylamine chain. The ethoxy group promotes interactions with water molecules through hydrogen bonding and electrostatic forces, disrupting the cohesive forces among water molecules and reduction surface tension at the oil-water interface. As a result, the nanomaterial achieves an ultra-low interfacial tension of 10^(-3) mN/m. Core flooding experiments demonstrate a significant oil recovery of approximately 70% at a concentration as low as 50 ppm. This research paves the way for the design and synthesis of advanced extended surfactant-like nanomaterials,offering a promising avenue for enhancing oil recovery efficiency.

The counter electrode (CE) prominence in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) is undisputed with research geared towards replacement of Pt with viable substitutes with exceptional conductivity and catalytic activity. Herein, we report the replaceable CE with better performance than that of Pt-based electrode. The chemistry between the graphene oxide and ice templates leads to cellular formation of reduced graphene oxide that achieves greater conductivity to the CE. The simultaneous growth of active edge-oriented MoS2 on the CE through CVD possesses high reflectivity. High reflective MoS2 trends to increase the electroactivity by absorbing more photons from the source to dye molecules. Thus, the synergistic effect of two materials was found to showcase better photovoltaic performance of 7.6% against 7.3% for traditional platinum CE.

Though the transition-metal dichalcogenides （TMDs） were proven to have a better performance on the hydrogen evolution reaction （HER）, the bulk production of active TMD materials remains a challenging work. This report overcomes those barriers by showing a simple procedure to synthesize TaS2 nanosheets through modifying the arc discharge process. The usage of chloride as the transporting agent reduces the growth period of the formed TaS2 with active edge sites. TaS2 is found to have a uniform thickness （4 nm） with high crystallinity and adopt a 2H polytype （double-layered hexagonal） structure. The as-synthesized TaS2 has superior activity for HER with the potential of 280 mV.

为揭示二维纳米片状材料(黑卡)对乳状液稳定性的影响,以扶余油田长春岭和三队区块原油为例,在水油体积比为7∶3的条件下,研究质量分数为0.005%的2-D智能纳米黑卡流体对原油乳状液稳定性的影响。通过稳定性分析仪和界面流变仪表征乳状液稳定性大小和界面膜强度,通过观察乳状液的微观形状和粒径分布分析黑卡增强乳状液稳定性的机理。研究结果表明,黑卡尺寸约为70×100(nm),厚度为0.65数1.2 nm。在原油和0.01%稳定剂十六烷基三甲基溴化铵(CTAB)组成的乳状液中加入黑卡后形成Pickering乳状液,乳状液的析水速度变慢,乳状液的稳定析水率从75.71%数78.57%降至65.71%数72.86%;乳状液稳定性提高,稳定性指数(TSI)值由4.73数5.64降至2.71数3.84;乳状液膜的强度增强,体系流变学特征由黏性转变为明显的弹性。黑卡作用的Pickering乳状液的背散射光曲线可分为乳状液破乳区、过渡区和乳状液聚并区3个区域。黑卡能改变稳定剂亲水-亲油平衡,将W/O型乳状液转变为O/W型乳状液,形成液滴尺寸为0.1数5μm大小的乳状液,大幅降低原油黏度。黑卡同时具有亲水-亲油两亲性质,可通过自吸附定向排布于液膜上,增加液膜强度,提高乳状液稳定性。图21表3参22。

Cystic fibrosis is now the most common serious, autosomal-recessive disease. It has been described in every population in all parts of the world. In the US, newborn screening is available in all states. Current studies demonstrate that newborn screening, early diagnosis, early nutritional and environmental intervention, and an understanding of the pathophysiology of the disease may increase life expectancy and quality-of-life. Evidence-based guidelines encourage the use of early nutritional intervention and initiation of pulmonary therapies. The average lung function of patients with cystic fibrosis corresponds with genetic makeup, age of intervention, and environmental factors including the socioeconomic status of the patient's family. We reviewed and updated current understanding of the pathophysiology of the disease, diagnosis, and the benefits of early diagnosis via newborn screening in evaluating the nutritional status of our youngest cystic fibrosis patients;the direct correlation of malnutrition to pulmonary- and cognitive-function outcomes are reviewed and updated from literature.

Post Millennium Development Goals Prospect on Child Mortality in India: An Analysis Using Autoregressive Integrated Moving Averages (ARIMA) Model

Background & Objectives: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are set up as a part of the Post Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Then it becomes essential to review the achievement of the MDGs in India and lessons learned to incorporate into the SDGs. The present study reviews and predicts different components of under-five mortality rate beyond 2015 to assess the present situation and to determine the future possibilities of achieving the new targets for SDGs in India. Data and Methods: It uses available time series data on different components of U5MR from the India’s Sample Registration System (SRS). Autoregressive Integrated Moving Averages (ARIMA) model has been taken as the method of time series analysis to forecast the mortality rates beyond 2015. Results: There is a consistent pattern of faster decline in the under-five mortality compared with the neonatal mortality rate across all major states in India although neonatal mortality contributes largest share in under-five mortality. Again, share of neonatal death among under-five death is increasing steadily over the future projected years. This indicates very slow progress of reduction in neonatal mortality. Stimulating efforts with new intervention programmes will be needed to focus more on lowering neonatal mortality particularly in rural India.

Objective: To conduct a population-based assessment of associations of intimate partner violence in the year prior to and during pregnancy with maternal and neonatal morbidity. Study design: Data from women giving birth in 26 U.S. states and participating in the 2000 to 2003 Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System(n=118,579) were analyzed. Results: Women reporting intimate partner violence in the year prior to pregnancy were at increased risk for high blood pressure or edema(adjusted odds ratio 1.37-1.40), vaginal bleeding(adjusted odds ratio 1.54-1.66), severe nausea, vomiting or dehydration(adjusted odds ratio 1.48-1.63), kidney infection or urinary tract infection(adjusted odds ratio 1.43-1.55), hospital visits related to such morbidity(adjusted odds ratio 1.45-1.48), and delivery preterm(adjusted odds ratio 1.37), of a low-birthweight infant(adjusted odds ratio 1.17), and an infant requiring intensive care unit care(adjusted odds ratio 1.31-1.33) compared with those not reporting intimate partner violence. Women reporting intimate partner violence during but not prior to pregnancy experienced higher rates of a subset of these concerns. Conclusion: Women experiencing intimate partner violence both prior to and during pregnancy are at risk for multiple poor maternal and infant health outcomes, suggesting prenatal risks to children from mothers’abusive partners.
