Human effects and environment impacts associated with nanoparticles generated from road traffic have recently attracted wide *** of the influencing variables on both number and mass of nanoparticles,sources,characteristics and limitations of advanced commercially accessible instruments for monitoring nanoparticles,are still scarce and not sufficient to make regulatory decision on solid particles smaller than 23 nm(SPN<23 nm).Given the harmful effects of nanoparticles on human health(*** impairment,cardiac-rhythm disturbance,heart attacks,premature death,etc.),their control and assessment seem to be an absolute *** this overview,we classify and analyze the existing knowledge of nanoparticles in road traffic atmosphere,recent progress,and emerging priorities in research related to these *** major aspects of ongoing research in this field,and a brief discussion of the main sources of atmosphere nanoparticles are *** subsequent section focuses on the influencing parameters of nanoparticles including climate conditions,height above the road surface and distance between source(road traffic)and sampling *** next section provides a comprehensive summary on sampling measurement methodologies and instrumental *** also review the health and environment implications associated with particle ***,an evaluation of the state of research related to nanoparticles together with highlights for future research activities are also presented.

Malignant colorectal polyps

Nowadays, the number of cases in which malignant colorectal polyps are removed is increasing due to colorectal cancer screening programmes. Cancerous polyps are classified into non-invasive high grade neoplasia (NHGN), when the cancer has not reached the muscularis mucosa, and malignant polyps, classed as T1, when they have invaded the submucosa. NHGN is considered cured with polypectomy, while the prognosis for malignant polyps depends on various morphological and histological factors. The prognostic factors include, sessile or pedunculated morphology of the polyp, whether partial or en bloc resection is carried out, the degree of differentiation of the carcinoma, vascular or lymphatic involvement, and whether the polypectomy resection margin is tumor free. A malignant polyp at T1 is considered cured with polypectomy ifit is a pedunculated polyp (Ip of the Paris classification), it has been completely resected, it is not poorly differentiated, the resection edge is not affected by the tumor and there is no vascular or lymphatic involvement. The sessile malignant polyp (Is of the Paris classification) at T1 is considered not cured with polypectomy. Only in some cases (e.g. older people with high surgical risk) local excision(polypectomy or endoscopic submucosal dissection or conventional endoscopic mucosal resection) is considered the definitive treatment.

Recently,a set of cryo-electron microscopy(cryo-EM)structures of different adhesion G protein-coupled receptors(aGPCRs)has been published by Xiao et al.1,Ping et al.2,Qu et al.3,and Barros-Álvarez et al.4 shedding light on the activation of the seven-helix transmembrane domain(7TMD)via their tethered peptide *** GPCRs are an evolutionary old class of receptors that play a key role in several physiological processes including neuron and synapse formation,immune response,and *** are unique within the superfamily of GPCRs because they combine the structural features of adhesive molecules,mediating cell–cell or cell–matrix interaction,with intracellular G protein-mediated *** long extracellular N terminus of the receptor harbours distinct functional domains including the highly conserved GPCR autoproteolysis-inducing(GAIN)domain with the GPCR proteolysis site(GPS).Many,but not all aGPCRs are autoproteolytically cleaved at the GPS into a N-and a C-terminal fragment(NTF and CTF,respectively),which remain non-covalently attached.

Significance of preoperative C-reactive protein as a parameter of the perioperative course and long-term prognosis in squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma of the oesophagus

AIM： C-reactive protein （CRP） is an acute-phase reactant and a known indicator of the malignant potential of the tumour. The aim of this study was to investigate the significance of preoperative CRP as a parameter of the perioperative course and long-term prognosis in patients with squamous cell carcinoma and aclenocarcinoma of the oesophagus. METHODS： Serum CRP was determined preoperatively in 291 of 371 patients undergoing oesophagectomy for cancer from December 1989 to March 2004. Median patient age was 59 （28-79） year, 82.5% of patients were males. Squamous cell carcinoma was diagnosed in 151 （51.9%） and aclenocarcinoma in 122 patients. Transhiatal oesophagectomy was clone in 151 （51.9%） patients and 134 （46.0%） patients underwent the abclominothoracic procedure. RESULTS： In 127 （43.6%） patients the preoperative serum CRP concentration was within the normal range （〈 5 mg/clL）, elevated CRP levels were measured in 164 （56.4%） patients. Tumour extension （P 〈 0.0005） and the number of lymph nodes affected by metastatic spread （P = 0.015） were significantly increased in the group with elevated CRP levels. Among the perioperative parameters both the number of blood transfusions （P = 0.006） and the general complication rate （P = 0.002） were higher in patients with elevated preoperative CRP levels. The long-term survival rate of 13.6 （0-109.8） mo was poorer in the group with elevated CRP levels compared to 18.9 （0-155.4） mo in the group with normal CRP levels （log-rank test： P = 0.107）. Multivariateanalysis with backward variables selection identified preoperative CRP as an independent prognostic factor of the long-term prognosis in patients with oesophageal carcinoma, with a hazard ratio of 1.182 （95% confidence interval： 1.030-1.356）. CONCLUSION： The preoperative serum CRP-level is an easily determined independent prognostic marker in patients with squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma of the oesophagus.

Protein methyltransferases have been shown to methylate histone and non-histone proteins,leading to regulation of several biological processes that control cell *** the past few years,the histone-lysine N-methyltransferase SETD7(SETD7;also known as SET7/9,KIAA1717,KMT7,SET7,SET9)has emerged as an important regulator of at least 30 non-histone proteins and a potential target for the treatment of several human *** review discusses current knowledge of the structure and subcellular localization of SETD7,as well as its function as a histone and non-histone *** work also underlines the putative contribution of SETD7 to the regulation of gene expression,control of cell proliferation,differentiation and endoplasmic reticulum stress,which indicate that SETD7 is a candidate for novel targeted therapies with the aim of either stimulating or inhibiting its activity,depending on the cell signaling context.

An estimation of stress intensity factor in a clamped SE(T) specimen through numerical simulation and experimental verification:case of FCGR of AISI H11 tool steel

A finite element analysis of stress intensity factors （KI） in clamped SE（T）c specimens （dog bone profile） is presented. A J-integral approach is used to calculate the values of stress intensity factors valid for 0.125≤a/W≤0.625. A detailed comparison is made with the work of other researchers on rectangular specimens. Different boundary conditions are explored to best describe the real conditions in the laboratory. A sensitivity study is also presented to explore the effects of variation in specimen position in the grips of the testing machine. Finally the numerically calculated SIF is used to determine an FCGR curve for AISI Hll tool steel on SE（T）c specimens and compared with C（T） specimen of the same material.

Recombination-Independent Mechanisms and Pairing of Homologous Chromosomes during Meiosis in Plants

Meiosis is the specialized eukaryotic cell division that permits the halving of ploidy necessary for game- togenesis in sexually reproducing organisms, This involves a single round of DNA replication followed by two successive divisions. To ensure balanced segregation, homologous chromosome pairs must migrate to opposite poles at the first meiotic division and this means that they must recognize and pair with each other beforehand. Although understanding of the mechanisms by which meiotic chromosomes find and pair with their homologs has greatly advanced, it remains far from being fully understood. With some notable exceptions such as male Drosophila, the recognition and physical link- age of homologs at the first meiotic division involves homologous recombination. However, in addition to this, it is clear that many organisms, including plants, have also evolved a series of recombination-independent mechanisms to facili- tate homolog recognition and pairing. These implicate chromosome structure and dynamics, telomeres, centromeres, and, most recently, small RNAs. With a particular focus on plants, we present here an overview of understanding of these early, recombination-independent events that act in the pairing of homologous chromosomes during the first meiotic division,
