Geomorphological responses of rivers to active tectonics along the Siwalik.Hills,Midwestern Nepalese Himalaya

The Nepalese Himalaya is well k.own for ongoing collisional tectonics,witnessed by major historical and recent *** Siwalik.Hills in Midwestern Nepalese Himalaya are bounded by eastwest trending Main Frontal Thrust(MFT)to the south and the Main Boundary Thrust(MBT)to the *** area is dissected by numerous southwest to south-flowing bedrock.*** study investigates geomorphic metrics of these rivers to unravel landscape evolution and active tectonics of the Siwalik.*** Elevation Model(DEM)analysis was conducted to extract structural lineaments and longitudinal river profile and their metrics(k.ick.oints,Normalized Steepness Index(k.n),concavity index,and chi integral)using steam powerlaw *** of the lineaments trend eastwest lik. *** profiles exhibit convex to double-concave shapes with upstream-propagating tectonic k.ick.oints that separate upstream and downstream reaches,indicating different phases of river *** spatial distribution of k.n shows high values along with low concavity values at the eastern part of the study area,reflecting disequilibrium conditions that are lik.ly responding to a high uplift *** integral distribution shows a variation in drainage divide migration between the eastern and western parts of the study *** study suggests that the rivers in the Siwalik.Hills are undergoing active incision lik.ly related to the ongoing uplift and active deformation associated with the Himalayan *** above findings can bring fresh perspectives to comprehend the neotectonic deformation and lateral variability along the Siwalik.Hills landscapes within the Himalaya.

In this paper, we introduce a new class of generalized convex function, namely, a-pseudounivex function, by combining the concepts of pseudo-univex and α-invex functions. Further, we establish some relationships between vector variational-lik. inequality problems and vector optimization problems under the assumptions of α-pseudo-univex functions. Results obtained in this paper present a refinement and improvement of previously k.own results.

Synthesis and application of biocompatible nontoxic nanoparticles for reclamation of Ce^3＋ from synthetic wastewater： Toxicity assessment, k.netic, isotherm and thermodynamic study

Cardiac Sarcolemmal Defects in Acute Myocarditis Due to Scorpion Envenoming Syndrome

Death due to scorpion envenoming syndrome is a common event in tropical and subtropical countries. Severe scorpion envenoming causes autonomic storm, massive release of catecholamines, counter-regulatory hormones, suppressed insulin/hyperinsulinemia, acute myocarditis, hyperglycemia, increased free fatty Acid levels, acute pancreatitis, disseminated intra-vascular coagulation, acute pulmonary oedema and death. Severe scorpion envenoming causes cardiac sarcolemmal defects displayed by alterations in Na+ - k. ATPase, Mg++ ATPase and Ca2+ ATPase activities, inhibition of erythrocyte Na+ - k. ATPase activities, hyperk.lemia and may result in death. Based on our animal experiments in which insulin administration reversed the metabolic and ECG changes induced by scorpion envenoming and treating the poisonous scorpion sting victims with insulin, we consider that insulin has a primary metabolic role in preventing and reversing acute myocarditis, the cardiovascular, haemodynamic, and neurological manifestations and pulmonary oedema induced by scorpion envenoming. Administration of insulin-glucose infusion to scorpion sting victims appears to be the physiological basis for the control of the metabolic response when that has become a determinant to survival. Continuous infusion of regular crystalline insulin should be given at the rate of 0.3 U/g glucose and glucose at the rate of 0.1 g/k. body weight/hour, for 48 - 72 hours, with supplementation of potassium as needed and maintenance of fluid, electrolytes and acid-base balance. The observation of cardiac sarcolemmal defects and physiological basis of various patho-physiological mechanisms involved in the genesis of scorpion envenoming syndrome and its reversal (in the experimental animals and scorpion sting victims) by administration of insulin are reviewed.

This paper explores the mathematical model for couple stress fluid flow through an annular region. The above model is used for studying the blood flow be-tween the clogged （stenotic） artery and the catheter. The asymmetric nature of the stenosis is considered. The closed form expressions for the physiological parameters such as impedance and shear stress at the wall are obtained. The effects of various geomet-ric parameters and the parameters arising out of the fluid considered are discussed by considering the slip velocity and tapering angle. The study of the above model is very significant as it has direct applications in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Separation and estimation of nanofiltration membrane transport parameters for cerium and neodymium

Lanthanides are widely used in various commercial applications, which results in public exposure to them, and it is a matter of concern. Many methods were used to remove lanthanides from wastewaters generated from their commercial use. In the present work. nanofiltration membrane process was used to remove the cerium and neodymium from their respective feed solutions. The feed and permeates were analyzed for solute concentration by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy. Irreversible thermodynamics Spiegler-k.dem model, in combination with the film theory, was used to estimate the membrane transport parameters, viz., reflection coefficient of membrane and solute permeability, and mass transfer coefficient to study their dependence on feed solute concentration.

A composite fall-slippage model is proposed in this study for the Tertiary sedimentary coastal cliffs of Vark.la in the western coastal tract of Peninsular India which are retreating landwards due to the combination of several *** fall model in the present study accounts both spring seepage and wave action,resulting in undercutting and this fall affects only the topmost laterite and the just below sandstone in the *** in this area affects all the litho-units and hence the geologic characteristics of all the litho-units are considered for developing the slippage *** mathematically derived model can be used in other cliffs exhibiting the same morphology as well as the one controlled by the same influencing *** model differs from other models in incorporating multi-lithounits as well as *** cliffs form a part of the aspiring geopark.in the Global Geopark.Network.and hence a study on the cliff recession is a pressing requirement.
