Atacama Field Campaign: laboratory and in-situ measurements for remote sensing applications

This work presents the preliminary results of the first field calibration campaign performed in the Atacama Desert,Chile,between the 18 and 22 August 2014,called the Atacama Field Campaign(ATAFIC 2014).In situ measurements were performed in order to spectrally characterize the surface reflectance spectra between 0.3 and 2.5μm,radiometric temperature(8.0–14.0μm)and atmospheric measurements.A soil sample was collected and analyzed using Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy and X-Ray Diffraction techniques to characterize the surface reflectance spectra and mineralogical composition,*** land surface emissivity in addition to GoEs,MoDIs and Landsat-8 land surface temperature(LsT)were also *** showed that the spectral features of the Atacama soil and the characteristics of this geographical zone,which is featured as the most hyper-arid and cloudless place in the world,make this area a potential target for surface reflectance *** and night LsT comparison between field and remote sensing data are lower than 2 K and the Root Mean square Error for land surface emissivity is close to 2%.This work opens the possibilities to consider the Atacama Desert as a reference target for calibration and validation activities for earth observation missions’purposes.

The CoVID-19 pandemic has escalated into one of the largest crises of the 21 st *** new sARs-CoV-2 coronavirus,responsible for CoVID-19,has spread rapidly all around the *** spanish Government was forced to declare a nationwide lockdown in view of the rapidly spreading virus and high mortality rate in the *** study investigated the impact of short-term lockdown during the period from March 15th to April 12th 2020 on the atmospheric levels of Co,so_(2),PM_(10),o_(3),and No_(2)over 11 representative spanish *** possible influence of several meteorological factors(temperature,precipitation,wind,sunlight hours,minimum and maximum pressure)on the pollutants'levels were also *** results obtained show that the 4-week lockdown had significant impact on reducing the atmospheric levels of No_(2)in all cities except for the small city of santander as well as Co,so_(2),and PM_(10)in some cities,but resulted in increase of o_(3)level.

Low energy consumption is one of the main challenges for wireless video transmission on battery limited devices. The energy invested at the lower layers of the protocol stack involved in data communication, such as link and physical layer, represent an important part of the total energy consumption. This communication energy highly depends on the channel conditions and on the transmission data rate. Traditionally, video coding is unaware of varying channel conditions. In this paper, we propose a cross-layer approach in which the rate control mechanism of the video codec becomes channel-aware and steers the instantaneous output rate according to the channel conditions to reduce the communication energy. our results show that energy savings of up to30% can be obtained with a reduction of barely 0.1 dB on the average video quality. The impact of feedback delays is shown to be small. In addition, this adaptive mechanism has low complexity, which makes it suitable for real-time applications.

Automatic detection of Acacia longifolia invasive species based on UAV-acquired aerial imagery

The Acacia longifolia species is known for its rapid growth and dissemination,causing loss of biodiversity in the affected *** order to avoid the uncontrolled spread of this species,it is important to effectively monitor its distribution on the agroforestry *** this purpose,this paper proposes the use of Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)for the detection of Acacia longifolia,from images acquired by an unmanned aerial *** models based on the same CNN architecture were *** classifies image patches into one of nine possible classes,which are later converted into a binary model;this model presented an accuracy of 98:6%and 98:5%in the validation and training sets,*** second model was trained directly for binary classification and showed an accuracy of 98:8%and 98:7%for the validation and test sets,*** results show that the use of multiple classes,useful to provide the aerial vehicle with richer semantic information regarding the environment,does not hamper the accuracy of Acacia longifolia detection in the classifier’s primary *** presented system also includes a method for increasing classification’s accuracy by consulting an expert to review the model’s predictions on an automatically selected sub-set of the samples.

In this paper we develop an a posteriori error analysis of a fully-mixed finite element method for a fluid-solid interaction problem in 2D. The media are governed by the elas-todynamic and acoustic equations in time-harmonic regime, respectively, the transmission conditions are given by the equilibrium of forces and the equality of the corresponding normal displacements, and the fluid is supposed to occupy an annular region surrounding the solid, so that a Robin boundary condition imitating the behavior of the sommerfeld condition is imposed on its exterior boundary. Dual-mixed approaches are applied in both domains, and the governing equations are employed to eliminate the displacenent a of the solid and the pressure p of the fluid. In addition, since both transmission conditions become essential, they are enforced weakly by means of two suitable lahrange multipliers The unknowns of the solid and the fluid are then approximated by a conforming galerkin scheme defined in terms of PEERs elements in the solid, Raviart-Thomas of lowest order in the fluid, and continuous piecewise linear functions on the boundary, As the main con-tribution of this work, we derive a reliable and efficient residual-based a posteriori error estimator for the aforedescribed coupled problem. some numerical results confirming the properties of the estimator are also reported.

We present a fast Galerkin spectral method to solve logarithmic singular equations on segments. The proposed method uses weighted first-kind Chebyshev polynomials. Conver- gence rates of several orders are obtained for fractional sobolev spaces H^-1/2 （or H00^-l/2）. Main tools are the approximation properties of the discretization basis, the construction of a suitable Hilbert scale for weighted L2-spaces and local regularity estimates. Pathological aspects of so called "hilar cholangiocarcinoma"

Cholangiocarcinoma(CC) arising from the large intrahepatic bile ducts and extrahepatic hilar bile ducts share clinicopathological features and have been called hilar and perihilar CC as a ***,"hilar and perihilar CC" are also used to refer exclusively to the intrahepatic hilar type CC or,more commonly,the extrahepatic hilar ***,a major distinction can be made between papillary and non-papillary ***,most hilar CCs are well to moderately differentiated conventional type(biliary) ***,CK7,CK20,CEA and MUC1 are normally expressed,being MUC2 positive in less than 50% of *** main premalignant lesions are known:biliary intraepithelial neoplasia(BilIN) and intraductal papillary neoplasm of the biliary tract(IPNB).IPNB includes the lesions previously named biliary papillomatosis and papillary carcinoma.A series of 29 resected hilar CC from our archives is ***(82.8%) were conventional type adenocarcinomas,mostly well to moderately differentiated,although with a broad morphological spectrum;three cases exhibited a poorly differentiated cell component resembling signet ring *** was observed in 5(17.2%),four of them with an associated invasive carcinoma.A clear cell type carcinoma,an adenosquamous carcinoma and two gastric foveolar type carcinomas were observed.

Emerging role of liquid biopsy in rat sarcoma virus mutated metastatic colorectal cancer:A case report

BACKGRoUND In patients with metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC),the treatment options are limited and have been proved to be affected by rat sarcoma virus(RAs)mutational *** RAs wild-type(wt)patients,the combination of antiepidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)monoclonal antibodies with chemotherapy(CT)is more effective than CT *** the other hand,RAs-mutated patients are not eligible for treatment with anti-EGFR *** sUMMARY Eleven patients with initially RAs-mutated mCRC were followed from diagnosis to May *** the time of cell-free DNA determination,five patients had undergone one CT line,five patients had undergone two CT lines,and one patient had undergone three CT lines(all in combination with bevacizumab).At the second and third treatment lines[second line(2L),third line(3L)],patients with neo-RAs wt received a combination of CT and *** neo-RAs wt patients treated with anti-EGFR,our findings indicated an increase in progression-free survival for both 2L and 3L(14.5 mo,P=0.119 and 3.9 mo,P=0.882,respectively).Regarding 2L overall survival,we registered a slight increase in neo-RAs wt patients treated with anti-EGFR(33.6 mo vs 32.4 mo,P=0.385).At data cut-off,two patients were still alive:A RAs-mutated patient undergoing 3L treatment and a neo-RAs wt patient who received 2L treatment with anti-EGFR(ongoing).CoNCLUsIoN our case series demonstrated that monitoring RAs mutations in mCRC by liquid biopsy may provide an additional treatment line for neo-RAs wt patients.
