A systematic scoping review of study methodology for randomized controlled trials investigating probiotics in athletic and physically active populations

Background:The purported ergogenic and health effects of probiotics have been a topic of great intrigue among researchers,practitioners,and the lay public *** has also been an increased research focus within the realm of sports science and exercise medicine on the athletic gut ***,compared to other ergogenic aids and dietary supplements,probiotics present unique study *** objectives of this systematic scoping review were to identify and characterize study methodologies of randomized controlled trials investigating supplementation with probiotics in athletes and physically active ***:Four databases(MEDLINE,CINAHL,Cochrane CENTRAL,and Cochrane Database of systematic Reviews)were searched for randomized controlled studies involving healthy athletes or physically active *** intervention with probiotics and inclusion of a control and/or placebo group were *** peer-reviewed articles in English were considered,and there were no date *** were extracted and presented in tabular form to detail study protocols,characteristics,and *** in randomized controlled trials was determined with the RoB 2.0 ***:A total of 45 studies were included in the review,with 35 using a parallel group design and 10 using a cross-over *** half the studies used a single probiotic and the other half a multi-strain *** probiotic dose ranged from 2×10^(8)to 1×10^(11)colony forming units daily,and the length of intervention was between 7 and 150 *** than half the studies directly assessed gastrointestinal symptoms,gut permeability,or the gut *** sex ratio of participants was heavily weighted toward males,and only 3 studies exclusively investigated ***-level adverse events were reported in only 2 studies,although the methodology of reporting varied *** risk of bias was generally low,although details on randomization were lacking in some s

seasonal variability coupled with the intermittency of renewable energy sources makes reservoir hydroelectric plants an interesting option to consider in hybrid energy systems, especially in cases of dams that have not been completed or have been abandoned and which still have some potential for reuse. The Laranjeiras dam was completed in the 1960s and the original project for hydroelectric power generation was not completed, made impossible by economic changes during the construction years. A recent study proposed the implementation of a hydroelectric photovoltaic hybrid system with lower horsepower to allow the dam to be made useful again. This paper presents the results of the computational simulations with the software Homer, considering the operation of the hydroelectric component (of the proposed hybrid system) with reservoir, playing the role of energy storage device when the production exceeds the demand at a given moment, reducing the loss of energy due to unavailability of demand. The study suggested to implement a hydroelectric power plant with power house at the base of the dam that has a height of 20 m, operating at a minimum flow of 9171 L/s, with reservoir operating as a device for energy storage, operating with a photovoltaic system of 360 kW, and a power limit for the purchase of energy from the grid equal to 200 kW, providing consumer loads up to 40 MWh per day, with cost of energy equal to Us$0.021 per kWh and a capital cost of Us$3285.617.

Breast cancer is the most frequent malignant neoplasm and the leading cause of cancer death in women in the world. Early detection techniques have been proposed on the basis of bioelectrical measurements. The aim of this study was to evaluate analytically and experimentally the inductive phase shift as a function of multi-frequency induced currents in breast cancer conditions. Virtual simulation by biophysical models and experimental measurements by magnetic induction in agar phantoms were developed to estimate the inductive phase shift as a function of the bulk electrical properties in typical breast volumes with tumors in specific positions. The analytical and experimental results are qualitatively consistent and provide evidence that the inductive phase shift has a potential clinical value to detect cancerous tumors toward inside a typical volume of breast tissue.

研究选取三峡水库三个不同的区域来研究离坝距离对鱼类群落结构和鱼类组成动态的影响。2010年11月到2011年10月期间共采集了8680尾鱼类样本,隶属于11科58种,其中鲤科鱼类占据了三峡水库鱼类的主体。夏季时的鱼类丰度显著高于其他季节的(P<0.05)。鱼类物种多样性与丰度在靠近大坝的江段(秭归)最低,中游江段(万州)相对较高,远离大坝的江段(涪陵)居中。随着三峡大坝的建成,鱼类区系也由适应流水生存的种类转变为适应静水生存的种类。因此,三峡水库蓄水已经明显地改变了其原有的鱼类群落结构,鱼类组成的相对丰度也随着时间发生了改变。

Immune response to inactivated bacterial vector carrying the recombinant K39 antigen of Leishmania infantum in mice

Optimization of Planning Routes in solid Waste Collection

This paper presents an optimization model for solving the planning problem of collection and transportation of solid waste in medium-sized cities. As final results, are expected to promote cost savings to the public coffers, as well as environmental benefits. The developed mathematical model is formulated as a problem of linear programming with mixed-integer variables and transcribed into software GAMs （general algebraic modeling system）. The practical application was tested using data collected in the central region of a Brazilian city with approximately 90,000 inhabitants. The deterministic model used allowed an optimal solution. It was found after inclusion of restrictions that eliminated the appearance of sub-routes. It was concluded that the optimal routes allow for a 38% reduction in total distance traveled, which can generate savings of $320.00 per day regarding maintenance and fuel trucks.

Thermomechanical Behavior Modeling of a Cr-Ni-Mo-Mn-N Austenitic stainless steel

The analytical approach and the thermomechanical behavior of a Cr-Ni-Mo-Mn-N austenitic stainless steel were characterized based on the parameters of work hardening (h), dynamic recovery (r) and dynamic recrystallization (n, tsub>0.5sub>), considering constitutive equations (σ, ε) and deformation conditions expressed according to the Zener-Hollomon parameter (Z). The results indicated that the curves were affected by the deformation conditions and that the stress levels increased with Z under high work hardening rates. The σsub>csub>/σsub>psub> ratio was relatively high in the first part of the curves, indicating that softening was promoted by intense dynamic recovery (DRV). This was corroborated by the high values of r and average stacking fault energy, γsub>ssub>sub>fesub> = 66.86 mJ/msup>2sup>, which facilitated the thermally activated mechanisms, increasing the effectiveness of DRV and delaying the onset of dynamic recrystallization (DRX). The second part of the curves indicates that there was a delay in the kinetics of dynamic softening, with a higher value of tsub>0.5sub> and lower values of the Avrami exponent (n) due to the competing DRV-DRX mechanisms, and steady state stress (σsub>sssub>) was achieved under higher rates of deformation.
