Multiple morphological abnormalities of the sperm flagella(MMAF)are characterized by bent,irregular,short,coiled,and absent *** is caused by a variety of genes,some of which have been ***,the underlying genetic factors responsible for the majority of MMAF cases are still largely *** glutamine-rich 2(QRICH2)gene plays an essential role in the development of sperm flagella by regulating the expression of essential sperm flagellar biogenesis-associated proteins,and genetic variants of QRICH2 have been identified as the primary cause of MMAF in humans and ***,we recruited a Pakistani consanguineous family to identify the genetic variant causing infertility in patients with ***-exome sequencing and Sanger sequencing were conducted to identify potentially pathogenic variants causing MMAF in infertile *** and eosin(HE)staining was performed to analyze sperm *** polymerase chain reaction,western blot,and immunofluorescence staining analyses were conducted to observe the expression of QRICH2 in spermatozoa.A novel homozygous missense variant(c.4618C>T)in QRICH2 was identified in the affected *** analysis of spermatozoa revealed the MMAF phenotype in infertile *** revealed a significant reduction in the level of sperm QRICH2 mRNA,and immunofluorescence staining revealed a lack of sperm QRICH2 ***,patients harboring a homozygous QRICH2 mutation presented reduced expression of outer dense fiber 2(ODF2)in sperm,whereas sperm expression of A-kinase anchor protein 4(AKAP4)was *** findings expand our understanding of the genetic causes of MMAF-associated male infertility and emphasize the importance of genetic counseling.

Implementation of Clinical Video Telemedicine (CVT) within a VA Medical Center Is Cost Effective and Well Received by Veterans

Background: The Veterans Administration (VA) has been using telehealth to enhance Veteran access to high quality VA care for over a decade. Clinical video telehealth (CVT) is one such telehealth tool that allows Veterans the opportunity to be evaluated by specialists at the Indianapolis VA while they actually remain in their community (in their local healthcare setting). Such tools are reported to improve satisfaction by avoiding the need to make the long, stressful, and often costly trips to the Medical Center. Our goal is to describe the results of CVT implementation at the Indianapolis VA. Methods: A retrospective review of the data from 2011-2014 related to the use of CVT at the Indianapolis VA was undertaken. The data collected during this time period included: the number of CVT visits per year by specialty, the number of miles in travel avoided per visit, and patient satisfaction survey data, which are obtained after each CVT visit. Results: A total of 14,708 Veterans have enrolled in our CVT telehealth program since 2011. There were 23,267 visits in 2013. 486,170 miles related to travel were avoided (calculating the number of miles avoided in travel from home to a local satellite site as compared to having to travel from home to the Indianapolis VA). At the current Government reimbursement rate of $0.42/mile, this is expressed in a cost avoidance of $209,053. In total, since 2011, the telehealth CVT program has saved the Government $331,132, a total of 770,075 miles saved in travel for our Veterans. In addition, the CVT program has been very well received by our Veterans with an overall satisfaction score of 96%. Conclusion: Our results indicate that the implementation of CVT is cost effective and is well received by Veterans. Telehealth modalities such as CVT are viable options that enhance Veteran satisfaction by decreasing the time and the costs related to travel while continuing to offer high quality health care.

Phantom tumor of the lung is an infrequent presentation of volume overload in congestive heart failure. This finding is often mistaken for a lung mass that leads to extensive workup and unnecessary treatments. A 75-year-old male was evaluated for a right lower lobe rounded opacity. A transthoracic echocardiogram showed normal left ventricular function. Biopsy of the mass was unremarkable. Patient was managed with diuretics, and subsequent lung imaging revealed resolution of the opacity.

中国与巴基斯坦历来友好,巴基斯坦留学生是中国留学群体中重要组成部分。然而,两国环境与文化有很大不同,很多巴基斯坦留学生在中国留学期间都面临很多跨文化适应问题。京津冀地区有很多巴基斯坦留学生,将他们作为跨文化适应研究的样本。笔者以问卷与访谈的形式调查了京津冀地区巴基斯坦留学生的跨文化适应情况,在调查结果的基础上,分析其出现的跨文化交际问题及其原因,并提出更好完成跨文化适应的一些建议。本文主要研究内容如下:第一章选定京津冀地区各高校巴基斯坦籍的留学生为调查对象,从饮食、生活、学习、社会、文化等方面设计问卷,进行调查,共收到有效答卷67份。调查结果显示:许多巴基斯坦留学生存在不易满足清真饮食要求、较难适应学校与社会严格管理措施、考试及作业压力过大、与中国人存在社交隔阂等问题。第二章为弥补问卷调查可能存在的研究内容局限性,笔者还对三位京津冀地区巴基斯坦籍留学生进行了访谈,对其跨文化适应情况进行更深入的了解,访谈再次印证了问卷调查中反映的种种跨文化适应问题,同时也发现不同学生对此有各自的应对措施。第三章在问卷结果和访谈结果分析的基础上,笔者发现京津冀地区巴基斯坦留学生群体的跨文化适应状况存在许多问题及其原因。其中包括:中文水平不足造成的学习与生活障碍、饮食生活习惯差异造成早期的较艰难的适应过程、文化差异造成的误解与隔阂、社会氛围的不适应等等。最后根据调查结果,笔者为来华留学的巴基斯坦学生提出能够顺利完成跨文化适应的针对性建议,比如投入更多时间精力提升中文水平、积极与老师同学以及身边的中国人交流并寻求帮助、做好学习规划以及保持开放心态等。

Analysis of Serum Cholesterol Level in Goats Breeds in Gilgit-Baltistan Area of Pakistan

In goats （Capra hircus） and other ruminants cholesterol is naturally produced in liver and intestinal walls. It is also acquired from supplemental food. Cholesterol is a source of energy and is a precursor of steroid hormones, bile acids and also required for normal cell function. The level of serum cholesterol is generally lower in goat breeds as compared to other cattles. The present study was conducted to estimate level of serum cholestrol in goats （both male and female） commonly reraed in three areas of Gilgit-Baltistan province of Pakistan viz; Ghizer, Baltistan and Hunza-NagarRandom samples of blood were taken from 440 goats （181 male and 259 female） and serum was obtained by centrifugation. Quantity of cholesterol in mg deciliter＂l of serum was determined by analyzing the serum using Micro-lab 300. Distrci wise comparison showed that cholestrol level in the samples from the three districts was highly significant. While the differences between the gender （male and female goats） from the same district were non-significant at P 〈 0.05. Ghizer breed is suggested to be better for human consumption because it had the lowest chlestrol level. The paper aslo discuss the effect of pastures feeding on the level of cholesterol in the serum of goats. Present findings will help formulate better strategies for the imporvement of goat breeds in the area.

Biomass has been utilized as an energy source for thousands of years typically in the formof wood and *** advances create new methodologies to extract energy and chemicals frombiomass. The biomass-derived nanostructured porous carbons(BDNPCs) are the most promising sulfur hosts and interlayers in rechargeable lithium-sulfur(Li-S) batteries. In this article, a comprehensive review is provided in the synthesis of nanostructured porous carbon materials for high-performance rechargeable Li-S batteries by using biomass. The performances of the Li-S batteries dependent on the porous structures(micro, meso and hierarchical) from BDNPCs are discussed, which can provide an in-depth understanding and guide rational design of high-performance cathode materials by using low-cost,sustainable and natural bio-precursors. Furthermore, the current existing challenges and the future research directions for enhancing the performance of Li-S batteries by using natural biomass materials are also addressed.

在过去的十年可以看到,数字图像和视频内容生成和分享的数量得到了爆炸式的增长。这种发展归因于图像和视频采集,压缩,存储和通信技术取得了巨大的进步。现在,可视通信已成为信息交流的动态模式。多媒体内容的传播对我们生活的影响已超过以往任何时候。毫不夸张的说,多媒体通信已经成为无线网络服务提供商提供服务的主要推动力,或者说现在网站为交流打开一种新局面,就像优酷。多媒体通信一般涵盖音频、图像和视频通信。图像和视频通信系统的主要目标是在给定速率和信道状况的前提下,实现尽可能好的视觉效果。目前,焦点限制为图像通信系统。为了优化通信系统的组件,以最大限度地提高感知质量,使用一个好的质量评估方法是很重要的。尽管早就认识到均方误差(MSE)对感知质量不能做出准确的评估,但它一直普遍用在图像通信系统的各个组件的设计中。在图像质量评价(IQA)领域的最新研究已经促进了强大的新算法的开发。其中几个新算法包括结构相似(SSIM)指数、可视信息保真(VIF)准则、以及视觉信噪比(PSNR)。在本文,数字图像压缩原理已得到DCT算法和利用blockproc函数的新算法的验证。图像压缩主要在不影响图像质量的情况下减少文件的大小。对于研究人员来说,通过不断处理,使重构图像的质量接近原始图像,仍是一个挑战。离散余弦变换(DCT)是非常有名的压缩技术,并被广泛地用于压缩图像。我们知道,在某些情况下DCT压缩算法重建的图像会出现朦胧或模糊的现象,特别是大尺寸图像。为了克服这些问题,出现了许多纠正朦胧或模糊的技术和算法。在本文中,我们提出通过使用blcokproc函数来压缩图像的技术。此外,运用blockproc函数的DCT算法可以作为图像处理去模糊的新方法,可以在图像处理去模糊工具使用。Blockproc处理方法逻辑上可用来处理任意大的图像。它支持一个文件到文件的工作流,从而不需要输入或输出图像完全包含在存储器中。各块的处理是一独立的操作且并行处理。相比于DCT变换,进一步减少了重建图像文件的大小。对图像更小的部分进行处理,而无需将整个图像加载进一个MATLAB变量。我们做了使用DCT和blockproc压缩MATLAB代码,然后在图像质量、图像压缩比、峰值信噪比(PSNR),均方误差(MSE)和结构相似性的基础上进行对比,评估图像整体质量。因此,连同blockproc函数的DCT方法是图像处理的最佳方法。此外,它是一个新的方法。这对大量图像压缩应用做进一步研究有很大帮助。
