Synthesis of palladium-rhodium bimetallic nanoparticles for formic acid dehydrogenation

Herein,we report for the first time the synthesis of preformed bimetallic Pd-Rh nanoparticles with different Pd:Rh ratios(nominal molar ratio:80-20,60-40,40-60,20-80) and the corresponding Pd and Rh monometallic ones by sol immobilization using polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) as protecting agent and NaBH4 as reducing agent,using carbon nanofibers with high graphitization degree(HHT) as the desired *** synthesized catalysts were characterized by means of Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM) and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy(ICP-OES).TEM shows that the average particle size of the Pd-Rh nanoparticles is the range of 3-4 nm,with the presence of few large agglomerated *** bimetallic catalysts,EDX-STEM analysis of individual nanoparticles demonstrated the presence of random-alloyed nanoparticles even in all cases Rh content is lower than the nominal one(calculated Pd:Rh molar ratio:90-10,69-31,49-51,40-60).The catalytic performance of the Pd-Rh catalysts was evaluated in the liquid phase dehydrogenation of formic acid to *** was found that Pd-Rh molar ratio strongly influences the catalytic ***-rich catalysts were more active than Rh-rich ones,with the highest activity observed for Pd90:Rh10(1792 h^(-1)),whereas Pd69:Rh31(921 h^(-1)) resulted the most stable during recycling ***,Pd90:Rh10 was chosen as a representative sample for the liquid-phase hydrogenation of muconic acid using formic acid as hydrogen donor,showing good yield to adipic acid.

The cellular prion protein(PrPC),a cell surface glycoprotein of 209 amino acids,has been considerably studied over the decades mainly due to its critical involvement in transmissible spongiform encephalopathies,or prion ***,it is the misfolding and aggregation of PrPC into pathological assemblies-named PrPSc-that constitute prions,the agents causing these unusual neurodegenerative diseases affecting humans and animals(Prusiner,1982).Furthermore,increasing evidence support its relevance also in other neurodegenerative diseases(NDDs),such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases(Corbett et al.,2020).

In this paper an asymptotic formula of Voronovskaja type for a multivariate extension of the Kantorovich generalized sampling series is given. Moreover a quantitative version in terms of some moduli of smoothness is established. Finally some particular examples of kernels are discussed, as the Bochner-Riesz kernel and the multivariate splines.

Isoenergetic-practical and semi-purified diets for protein requirement determination in Hermetia illucens larvae:consequences on life history traits

Background:Black soldier fly(BSF)is one of the most promising species for the intensive breeding of insects given its adaptability and its efficiency in the conversion of *** maximize the production and use waste as substrates,it is essential to determine the larvae nutritional *** study aims to evaluate the effects of5 practical,semi-purified and isoenergetic diets(PSPID)with increasing protein levels(10%,CP10;14%,CP14;16%,CP16;19%,CP19)on BSF life history traits.A total of 2000 six-day-old larvae were weighed and divided into groups of 100(4 replicates/treatment[PSPID and Gainesville diet(GA)used as environmental control]).In larva-prepupa stage,sampling was carried out on 30 individuals/replicate,while in prepupa-adult stage on ***:In the whole larval stage,the CP16 treatment performed better when compared to the other ***18 days old,the CP14 treatment showed a higher weight than the CP19(P<0.01),while the CP10 and CP16weights were *** the contrary,the CP10 prepupae weight was higher than the CP19(P<0.01).The CP10 and CP14 pupae performed better in terms of weight when compared to the others(P<0.01).The dietary treatments did not affect the adult *** sex significantly influenced both the exuvia weight,which was the greatest in females(P<0.001),and the fly lifespan,longest in males(P<0.05).Fly lifespan was also influenced by the interaction between treatment and sex,with the CP19 females showing a longer life than the others(P<0.05).Conclusions:In conclusion,the optimal protein level considering the whole larval stage is 16%on dry matter(DM).At 18 days old,looking at the size intended for the meal production,it can be considered 14%on *** result obtained on adult emergence in PSPID may not be attributable to the protein *** researches on macronutrients requirements determination have to be conducted to evaluate the substrates composition effects on BSF life history traits.

Bone metastases:When and how lung cancer interacts with bone

Bone metastasis is a common and debilitating consequence of lung cancer:30%-40% of patients with nonsmall cell lung cancer develop bone metastases during the course of their disease. Lung cancer cells find a favorable soil in the bone microenvironment due to factors released by the bone matrix, the immune system cells, and the same cancer cells. Many aspects of the cross-talk among lung tumor cells, the immune system,and bone cells are not clear, but this review aims to summarize the recent findings in this field, with particular attention to studies conducted to identify biomarkers for early detection of lung cancer bone metastases.

Antagonizing amyloid-β/calcium-sensing receptor signaling in human astrocytes and neurons: a key to halt Alzheimer's disease progression?

Astrocytes＇ roles in late-onset Alzheimer＇s disease （LOAD） promotion are important, since they survive soluble or fibrillar amyloid-β peptides （Aβs） neurotoxic effects, undergo alterations of intracellular and intercellular Ca2＋ signaling and gliotransmitters release via the Aβ/a7-nAChR （αT-nicotinic acetylcholine receptor） signaling, and overproduce/oversecrete newly synthesized Aβ42 oligomers, NO, and VEGF-A via the Aβ/CaSR （calcium-sensing receptor） signaling. Recently, it was suggested that the NMDAR （N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor） inhibitor nitromemantine would block the synapse-destroying effects of Aβ/α7-nAChR signaling. Yet, this and the progressive extracellular accrual and spreading of Aβ42 oligomers would be stopped well upstream by NPS 2143, an allosteric CaSR antagonist （calcilytic）.
