In healthy individuals,the intestinal epithelium forms a tight barrier to prevent gut bacteria from reaching blood *** study the effect of probiotics,dietary compounds and drugs on gut barrier formation and disruption,human gut epithelial and bacterial cells can be cocultured in an in vitro model called the human microbial crosstalk(HuMiX)gut-on-a-chip ***,we present the design,fabrication and integration of thin-film electrodes into the HuMiX platform to measure transepithelial electrical resistance(TEER)as a direct readout on barrier tightness in *** various aspects of the HuMiX platform have already been set in their design,such as multiple compressible layers,uneven surfaces and nontransparent materials,a novel fabrication method was developed whereby thin-film metal electrodes were first deposited on flexible substrates and sequentially integrated with the HuMiX system via a transfer-tape ***,to measure localized TEER along the cell culture chamber,we integrated multiple electrodes that were connected to an impedance analyzer via a *** further developed a dynamic normalization method because the active measurement area depends on the measured TEER *** fabrication process and system setup can be applicable to other barrier-on-chip *** a proof-of-concept,we measured the barrier formation of a cancerous Caco-2 cell line in real-time,which was mapped at four spatially separated positions along the HuMiX culture area.

Soil properties, grassland management, and landscape diversity drive the assembly of earthworm communities in temperate grasslands

Earthworms are widespread soil organisms that contribute to a wide range of ecosystem *** such,it is important to improve our knowledge,still scanty,of the factors that drive the assembly of earthworm *** aim of the present study was to conjointly evaluate the effects on the assembly of earthworm communities of i)soil properties(texture,organic matter content,and pH),ii)grassland management(grassland age,livestock unit,and type of fertilization),iii)landscape diversity(richness,diversity of surrounding habitats,and grassland plant diversity),and iv)presence of *** study was conducted in temperate grasslands of Brittany,*** were sampled in 24 grasslands and,in three of these grasslands,they were sampled near a hedgerow or near a ditch(control without a hedgerow).Soil properties explained the larger portion of the variation in the earthworm community parameters compared to grassland management or landscape *** increase in soil organic matter content and pH were the most favorable factors for earthworm abundance and biomass,in particular for endogeic *** grassland management,the increase in the livestock unit was the most damaging factor for earthworm communities,in particular for the anecic earthworm biomass and endogeic species ***,landscape diversity negatively affected the total earthworm abundance and epigeic earthworm biomass,but it was related to an increase in the epi-anecic *** a finer scale,we also demonstrated that the presence of hedgerows surrounding grasslands enhanced earthworm species richness,especially within the epigeic and anecic ecological *** study highlights that the earthworm ecological categories respond specifically to environmental filters;further studies need to be conducted to elucidate the factors that drive the assembly of earthworm communities at this ecological category *** recommend that policymakers should act on landscape man

AIM:To study the angle between the circular smooth muscle(CSM) and longitudinal smooth muscle(LSM) fibers in the distal ***:In order to identify possible mechanisms for greater shortening in the distal compared to proximal esophagus during peristalsis,the angles between the LSM and CSM layers were measured in 9 *** outer longitudinal layer of the muscularis propria was exposed after stripping the outer *** inner circular layer of the muscularis propria was then revealed after dissection of the esophageal mucosa and the underlying muscularis *** of each specimen were taken with half of the open esophagus folded back showing both the outer longitudinal and inner circular muscle *** were measured every one cm for 10 cm proximal to the squamocolumnar junction(SCJ) by two independent *** human esophagi were obtained from organ transplant donors and the angles between the circular and longitudinal smooth muscle layers were measured using micro-computed tomography(micro CT) and Image J ***:All data are presented as mean ± *** CSM to LSM angle at the SCJ and 1 cm proximal to SCJ on the autopsy specimens was 69.3 ± 4.62 degrees vs 74.9 ± 3.09 degrees,P = *** CSM to LSM angle at SCJ were statistically significantly lower than at 2,3,4 and 5 cm proximal to the SCJ,69.3 ± 4.62 degrees vs 82.58 ± 1.34 degrees,84.04 ± 1.64 degrees,84.87 ± 1.04 degrees and 83.72 ± 1.42 degrees,P = 0.013,P = 0.008,P = 0.004,P = 0.009 *** CSM to LSM angle at SCJ was also statistically significantly lower than the angles at 6,7 and 8 cm proximal to the SCJ,69.3 ± 4.62 degrees vs 80.18 ± 2.09 degrees,81.81 ± 1.75 degrees and 80.96 ± 2.04 degrees,P = 0.05,P = 0.02,P = 0.03 *** CSM to LSM angle at 1 cm proximal to SCJ was statistically significantly lower than at 3,4 and 5 cm proximal to the SCJ,74.94 ± 3.09 degrees vs 84.04 ± 1.64 degrees,84.87 ± 1.04 degrees and 83.72 ± 1.42 degrees,P =

We report on the generation and delivery of 10.2 PW peak power laser pulses,using the High Power Laser System at the Extreme Laser Infrastructure–Nuclear Physics *** this work we demonstrate for the first time,to the best of our knowledge,the compression and propagation of full energy,full aperture,laser pulses that reach a power level of more than 10 PW.

随着科学技术的发展,人们对于高效的储能技术有了更高的需求,促使着锂电池向更高容量和轻量化发展。金属锂由于具有3861m Ah.g-1的超高理论容量而被视为性能最佳的负极材料。然而锂金属负极在充放电时,存在锂枝晶和体积效应的问题,一直限制锂电池的发展。在过去的几年,研究人员致力于探索能够抑制锂枝晶生长的方式,从而推进锂电池的发展。其中,设计三维集流体负极材料被认为是一种有效可行的方法。但是通常,三维集流体的制备成本高,因此难以规模化生产。本文通过简单的电沉积方法制备了三维铜锥纳米阵列,并电镀锂金属作为负极材料。根据SEM、循环伏安法和阻抗测试结果,这种方法制备的负极材料表现出了优异的电化学性能,在1C倍率下首圈循环时的容量可以达到2644 m Ah.g-1,300次循环后的容量为472m Ah.g-1。

自动代客停车(AVP)可以预见是一种高度自动化的功能,将在不久的将来大规模量产。AVL在演示车辆上开发了AVP解决方案。尽管有几项规范描述了此功能的特定标准,但AVL开发了一种基于客观物理标准评估AVP功能性能的方法。本文提供了每个标准的数学描述及评估它们的特定传感器。对这些标准进行评级的量表是基于广泛的驾驶员测试之上的。对人类测试结果进行统计分析,以确认此类测试矩阵的相关性。AVLAVP功能结果通过所谓的HBR评价等级(基于人的目标等级)进行评估,并与ISO和I-VISTA相关规范及专家驾驶员进行比较。

Automated Valet Parking is foreseen as a highly automated function to be implemented on large scale in mass production in the near future. For such function, The authors have developed an innovative system concept using both real time kinematic sensing system and infrastructure IoT（Internet of things） camera to perform AVP function. As the driver activates the AVP function, the infrastructure identifies available parking spots by processing in real time camera frames and as the path is computed, the vehicle executes automated parking maneuvers. This paper introduces the system scheme and system engineering approach as well as key technology bricks to realize AVP function and proves the effectiveness and accuracy of the system through extensive vehicle testing. From system definition to final prototype validation, through Motion control algorithm description or deep learning algorithm tuning method, this paper covers a large spectrum of the engineering domains required to implement such function. Finally a specific Pursuit Model development and calibration approach is elicited for the motion control function and proven in use by AVL Vehicle Prototype platform.
