Evaluation of the use of rapid urease test:Pronto Dry to detect H pylori in patients with dyspepsia in several cities in Indonesia

AIM: To evaluate Pronto Dry examination in patients with dyspepsia. METHODS: The study was conducted in patients with dyspepsia who underwent endoscopic examination in several endoscopic centers of several cities in Indonesia from January 2003 until April 2004. Biopsies for histo- pathologic examination were fixed with formalin and sent to Histopathologic Department to be analyzed and confirm the presence of H pylori infection. If H pylori was found positive, the density was calculated semi quanti- tatively. Histopathologic examination from gastric biopsy samples was interpreted based on the updated Sydney system classification. RESULTS: Of 550 patients, 309 (56%) were male and 241 (44%) were female with ages ranging from 15 to 82 years. Mean age was 44.98 ± 14.46 years. Mean age of male patients was 44.35 ± 13.85 years and mean age of female patients was 45.78 ± 15.19 years. Evaluation of endoscopic results showed gastric ulcer in 36 cases (6.5%) and duodenal ulcer in 20 cases (3.6%). Normal endoscopic finding was found in 45 cases (8.2%) and minimal disorder of gastritis and duodenitis were found in 246 cases (44.7%). One case of gastric cancer was identified. Of 56 cases which were positive based on the criteria used, 39 patients were positive with Pronto Dry and 17 patients were negative with Pronto Dry. Overall sensitivity and specificity of Pronto Dry were 69.7% and 95.7% respectively. Positive predictive value was 66.1% and negative predictive value was 96.4% and overall ac- curate rate was 92.9%. CONCLUSION: Pronto Dry seems promising as a diag- nostic tool to detect H pylori more rapidly and accurately.

Characteristics of hospitalized patients with confirmed COVID-19 and their hospital management

Objective:To determine the risk factors of mortality among hospitalized COVID-19 ***:This retrospective study used hospitalization records collected by the Indonesia Health Social Security Administrator Agency(Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Sosial Kesehatan-BPJS Kesehatan).A total of 38277 eligible patients with confirmed COVID-19 were *** dependent variable of the study was the discharge status(death or recovery)of *** variables were history of morbidity and disease-related occurrence,type of room health facilities,length of stay and demographic variables(sex,age).The analyses use bivariate and multivariate logistic regression to determine the dominating variable associated with all these ***:Of the 38277 inpatients with PCR-confirmed COVID-19,31051(81.1%)were discharged and 7226(18.9%)*** of death was positively associated with older age(aOR 5.74,95%CI 4.20-7.87 for 19-64 years old;aOR 13.75,95%CI 9.99-18.92 for 65 years above),male sex(aOR 1.13,95%CI 1.07-1.19),treated in ICU without ventilator(aOR 5.84,95%CI 5.41-6.30)and had comorbid respiratory diseases(aOR 5.39,95%CI 4.93-5.90),but negatively associated with hospital stay of 15 days or longer(aOR 0.39,95%CI 0.36-0.43).Conclusions:COVID-19 related death during hospitalization was associated with duration and type of treatment,and existing medical condition among the inpatient individuals during COVID-19 pandemic in DKI *** findings of the study suggest importance of appropriate and timely medical intervention and care.

Genetic variation of Leptospira isolated from rats catched in Yogyakarta Indonesia

Objective: To detect genetic variations among pathogenic Leptospira isolated from rats using 16 S r RNA gen as chronometer. Methods: This is an observational study with cross sectional design. Rats saples were taken in Yogyakarta Special Region of Indonesia. Leptospira in the rats was detected by two methods ie. real time PCR(q PCR) by using primers correspond to16 S r RNA gene of Leptospira, and standard PCR by using dif erent set of primer correspond to the 16 S r RNA gene of Leptospira. The standard PCR amplicon then subjected for DNA sequencing. Analysis genetic variation was performed using MEGA 6.2. Software. Results:There were 99 DNA samples from rats included in this study. Detection of Leptospira by using q PCR revealed 25 samples positive for pathogenic Leptospira, while only 6 samples were able to be detected using standard PCR. The new primer set correspond to 16 S r RNA gene was able to detect specii cally pathogenic Leptospira in the rats. Sequencing analysis of 6 PCR amplicons showed that the Leptospira which infect the rats catched in Yogyakarta genetically close related with pathogenic Leptospira which were isolated from human, animal, rodents, and environment. Conclusions: It can be considered that rats are the most important vector and reservoir of Leptospira.

The effect of calcination temperature on the capacitive properties of WO3-based electrochemical capacitors synthesized via a sol-gel method

Electrochemical capacitor （EC） is a promising energy storage device which can be hybridized with other energy conversion or energy storage devices. One type of ECs is pseudocapacitor made of metal oxides. WO3 is an inexpensive semiconductor metal oxide which has many applications. However the application of WO3 as an EC material was rarely reported. Therefore in this research EC was prepared from WO3 nanomaterial synthesized by a sol-gel process. The WO3 gel was spin-coated on graphite substrates and calcined at various temperatures of 300~C, 400℃, 500℃ and 600℃ for 1 h. Cyclic voltammetry （CV） measurements were used to observe the capacitive property of the WO3 samples. SEM, XRD, FTIR and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller （BET） analyses were used to characterize the material structures. WO3 calcined at 400~C was proved to have the highest capacitance of 233.63 Fo g^-1 （1869 mFo cm-2） at a scan rate of 2 mVo s-1 in 1 mol/L H2SO4 between potentials -0.4 and 0.4 V vs. SCE. Moreover it also showed the most symmetric CV curves as the indication of a good EC. Hence WO3 calcined at 400℃ is a potential candidate for EC material of pseudocapacitor type.

This study investigates the effect of Reynolds number on the performance of Savonius wind turbine with slotted *** turbine performance investigation was based on the torque coefficient(Ct),power coefficient(Cp),and tip speed ratio(TSR).The experiment used two number of blade configuration,blade overlap ratio of 10%,12.5%and 20%,slotted position of 15%,20%,25%and 35%,and also slotted gap width of 3 mm,5 mm,7 mm,and 9 *** wind speed carried out in this experiment are 5.94 m/s,6.46 m/s,6.99 m/s,and 7.27 m/s,which are generated from the fan blowers as a wind *** Savonius turbine with 10%overlap ratio shows the best *** highest Cp obtained is 0.138 by the variation of a 3 mm gap with Re of 1.44×10^(4) and 0.526 TSR.

Leptospirosis is a potential threat to public health. An increasing number of people infected with Leptospira were reported in Bantul District, Yogyakarta special region with a case fatality rate (CFR) of 7.8%. Infected areas in the district have increased from 2 to 15 sub districts. Leptospirosis is caused by Leptospira bacteria and spread by direct contact with infected rodents and indirect contact through contaminated water or soil. Leptospira in rats, water and soil were detected using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). The sites of sampled materials were geocoded using Global Positioning System (GPS). Spatial analysis was used to predict the spread of Spira. This study aims to perform the mapping, clustering, and predicting the spread of Leptospira in Bantul Yogyakarta Indonesia. Data were collected from three sub-districts: Sedayu, Sewon and Bantul. The result showed that 38.04% from 368 samples were Spira positive. There were four significant clusters of infection spread source. Spira is predicted to spread in, and out from, Bantul District.

This research was carried out at Sembawa Research Station,Palembang to determine the effects of lime doses under conservation tillage on weed development, yield of maize in rubber based intercroping *** presented were recorded from two years maize *** was prepared using two tillage systems called Conventional tillage and Reduced tillage only at the first *** lime doses was applied,each year,as width as 20 cm along maize planting *** optimal lime dose applied to maize rows at Conventional tillage plots,at the first and the second year were between 1100 and 1650 kg of CaCO/ha or equivalent to application of 1.5 and 2.25 x Al,respectively,while at Reduced tillage plots,those optimal lime doses were lower *** 550 and 1100 kg of CaCO/ha or equivalent to application of 0.75 and 1.5 x *** relation between maize yield and Al saturation was observed,with regression equation as follows y=-52.7x + 6315.9,R= 0.96,where y and x were maize grain yield(grain moisture of 14%) and Al saturation(%),*** of treatments on changes in soil properties,weed development and rubber growth were also *** benefit of planting maize with conservation tillage in rubber based intercropping was also presented.
