introduction: Neonatal asphyxia (NA) is one of the most likely causes of neuro-developmental abnormalities in children. in Mali it is responsible for half of the early deaths and the third of neonatal mortality. Updated data would help understand and improve intervention strategies to reduce mortality. Objective: it is the study of epidemiological and clinical characteristics, the immediate outcome and the factors associated with newborn (NB) mortality with NA. Material and Methods: This was a prospective cross-sectional study from June 27th to September 3rd 2016 about the NBs admitted for NA in the Hospital Teaching Gabriel Touré of Bamako. The clinical and biological data including the prognosis were collected from the health records of women, the liaison sheets and the medical file. The analysis was done using the software Epi info version 3.5.1. Results: 76 NBs were included which represented 23.45% of hospitalizations. The majority (89.5%, n = 68) were admitted to less than 24 hours of life for NA grade iii according to the Sarnat classification (43.4%, n = 33). The average age of mothers was 24.17 ± 5.5 years. Almost half (41.3%, n = 31) were primigravida. The most common obstetrical event was dystocia (64.5%, n = 49). The prognosis was poor in grade iii anoxia in our patients (56%) of deaths. Conclusion: The périnatal anoxia (PA) is a major health issue in Mali because of its frequency and severity. Monitoring of pregnancies, delivery assisted by skillful and qualified personnel, mastery of neonatal resuscitation techniques are good means of prevention.

Multivariate Statistical Analysis of Dominating Groundwater Mineralization and Hydrochemical Evolution in Gao,Northern Mali

Population growth and expanding urbanization have caused persistent shortages and contamination of groundwater resources in Mali,*** increase in groundwater salinity makes it more difficult for residents to obtain drinking water,it is necessary to clarify the causes and control factors of groundwater mineralization in Gao region,northern *** on the analysis of the hydrochemical composition of groundwater in 24 boreholes,Piper and Sch?eller diagrams,principal component analysis(PCA)and hierarchical cluster analysis(HCA)are used to carry out multivariate statistical analysis on the main *** results show that the groundwater samples are weakly alkaline,with pH values ranging from 5.83 to 8.40,and the average values of boreholes are 7.50,*** average electrical conductivity(EC)value is 354.4(μS/cm),and the extreme value is between 124.0 and 1247(μS/cm).Water is usually mineralized and presents nine types of water *** three principal components explain 84.42%of the total variance for 13 *** factor F1(58.85%),the factor F2(16.88%)and the factor F3(8.69%)present for the majority of the total data *** addition,multivariate statistical analysis confirmed the genetic relationship among aquifers and identified three main *** related to groundwater mineralization(F1),clustering related to oxide reduction and iron enrichment(F2),and clustering of groundwater pollution caused by nitrate and magnesium(F3).We found that agriculture,weathering activities and dissolution of geological materials promote the mineralization of *** quality in the Gao region is becoming less and less potable because of increasing salinity.

Determination of Biotin in Pharmaceutical Formulations by Potassium Permanganate-luminol-CdTe Nanoparticles Chemiluminescence System

A sensitive flow-injection chemiluminescence method was developed for the determination of biotin in the pharmaceutical *** affinity between avidin and biotin was used to adsorb biotin on the polystyrene,with subsequent quantification of biotin based on its ability to enhance the chemiluminescence（CL） signal generated by the redox reaction of potassium permanganate-luminol-CdTe nanoparticles CL *** investigations prove that apart from 3-aminophthalate,the CdTe quantum dots（QDs） play both catalytic and emitter *** optimum conditions,the linear range for the determination of biotin was 0.01―25 ng/mL with a detection limit of 7.3×10-3 ng/mL（S/N=3）.The relative standard deviation of 5 ng/L biotin was 2.06%（n=7）.The proposed method was used to determine the biotin concentration in the pharmaceutical formulations and the recovery was between 96.4% and 104%.The proposed method is simple,convenient,rapid and sensitive.

Effect of leachate recycle and inoculation on microbial characteristics of municipal refuse in landfill bioreactors

Population development of key groups of anaerobic and aerobic bacteria involved in municipal refuse decomposition under laboratory landfill bioreactors with and without leachate recycle and inoculation was measured since modeling municipal refuse was landfilled in bioreactors for about 210 days. Hydrolytic fermentative bacteria (HFB), hydrogen-producing acetogenic bacteria (HPAB), methane-producing bacteria (MPB), sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB), anaerobic and aerobic cellulolytic bacteria and denitrabacteria were enumerated by the most probable number technique. The results showed that the dominant microorganism groups were the methanogenic bacteria including hydrolytic fermentative, hydrogen-producing acetogenic and methane-producing bacteria. They were present in fresh refuse but at low values and positively affected by leachate recycle and refuse inoculation. The amounts of HFB or HPAB in digesters D4 and D5 operated with inoculation and leachate recycle reached their maximum values of 1010 - 1012 cells/g dry refuse for HFB or 105 - 106 cells/g dry refuse for HPAB on day 60, in digester D3 operated with leachate recycle on day 120 for HFB (109 cells/g dry refuse) or on day 90 for HPAB (105 cells/g dry refuse), and in digesters D1 and D2 on day 210 for HFB (109 cells/g dry refuse) or on day 90 for HPAB (104 - 106 cells/g dry refuse). The population of methane-producing bacteria in digesters D4 and D5 sharply increased on days 60 and 90 respectively, however in digesters D1, D2 and D3 on day 120. Leachate recycle and inoculation changed the cellulolytic microorganisms composition of refuse ecosystem, the higher amounts of anaerobic cellulolytic bacteria were measured in digesters D4 and D5 (107 cells/g dry refuse), followed by digesters D3 (106 cells/g dry refuse), D2 or D1 (104 cells/g dry refuse). The presence of missing data in a database is a phenomenon that every researcher is liable to meet during their work. Although the bias which can be generated by an inadequate treatment of non-response is known for a long time [27], the knowledge on the effectiveness of various methods used in the treatment of missing values is not yet fully explored. This study aims to apply the techniques used in the treatment of missing values in the calculation of the morbidity and mortality linked to Malaria in Koulikoro in Mali during the period from April to June 2005. The main problem that missing data poses is that it is impossible not to take missing values into consideration during the application of a statistical analysis method. The majority of these methods had been developed to deal with a matrix of incomplete data. in this document the statistical theories on incomplete data sets are presented and then applied on the data of Koulikoro from Malian National Malaria Control Program.

Numerical investigation of thermal performance of heat loss of parabolic trough receiver

Based on the analysis of computation methods and heat transfer processes of the parabolic trough receiver running in steady state, a two-dimensional empirical model was developed to investigate the thermal performance of heat loss of parabolic trough receivers under steady state equilibrium. A numerical simulation was conducted for the parabolic trough receiver involved in a literature. Comparisons between numerical and experimental results show that the empirical model is accurate enough and can be used to investigate the thermal performance of heat loss of parabolic trough receivers. The thermal performance of heat loss of UVAC3 and the new-generation UVAC2008 was investigated respectively. The simulation results show that selective coatings and annular pressure influence the thermal performance of heat loss of parabolic trough receivers greatly, wind velocity influences the thermal performance of thermal loss of parabolic trough receivers only a little in contrast with the emittance of selective coatings and air pressure in annular space. And the thermal performance of thermal loss of the new-generation parabolic trough receiver has been improved in a large amount.

Vegetation types and climate conditions reflected by the modern phytolith assemblages in the subalpine Dalaoling Forest Reserve, central China

This research describes modern phytolith records and distributions from subalpine surface soils in the Dalaoling Forest Reserve, and reveals its implications for local climate conditions with respect to the altitude gradient. Well-preserved phytolith morpho-types, assem- blages, and climatic indices were used to study the relationship between local vegetation and climate condi- tions. The phytolith classification system is mainly based on the characteristics of detailed morpho-types described for anatomical terms, which are divided into seven groups： long cells, short cells, bulliform cells, hair cells, pterido- phyte type, broad-leaved type, and gymnosperm type. Phytoliths originating from the Poaceae are composed of Pooideae （rondel and trapeziform）, Panicoideae （bilobate, cross, and polylobate）, Chloridoideae （short/square sad- dle）, and Bambusoideae （oblong concave saddle）. Based on the altitudinal distribution of the phytolith assemblages and the indices of aridity （iph）, climate （ic）, and tree cover density （D/P）, five phytolith assemblage zones have revealed the five types of climatic conditions ranging from 1,169 m to 2,005 m in turn： warm-wet, warm-xeric to warm-mesic, warm- xeric to cool-mesic, cool-xeric, and cool-mesic to cool-xeric. The Bambusoideae, Panicoideae, and Chloridoideae are the dominant vegetation at the lower-middle of the mountains, while Pooideae is mainly distributed in the higher mountains. The close relationship between phytolith assembleages and changes of altitude gradient suggest that vegetation distribution patterns and plant ecology in the Dalaoling mountains are controlled by temperature and humidity conditions. Our results highlight the importance ofphytolith records as reliable ecoclimatic indicators for vegetation ecology in subtropical regions.

Objective: To investigate the toxicity of aqueous extract of Guibourtia tessmannii(Harms) J. Leonard(G. tessmannii) and evaluate its ***: NMRi mice were used to determine the acute toxicity of G. *** concentrations of the plant extracts were administered intraperitoneally or by force-feeding. General behavior and death were monitored and recorded daily for 7 *** order to determine the sub-acute toxicity of the extract, several doses were administered by oral gavage daily for 28 days in adult Wistar rats. Different parameters were assessed including body weight, food and water intake, biochemical parameters and several vital organ ***: LD50 of 328.78 mg/kg was obtained by i.p. route and more than 5 000 mg/kg was obtained in acute toxicity by oral route. in sub-acute toxicity, no significant alteration was observed in body weight or vital organs, food and water intake, and biochemical ***: The results showed that the aqueous extract of G. tessmannii has low toxicity intraperitoneally and no sub-acute toxicity via oral intake.
