Pseudoconformal equation of state in compact-star matter from topology change and hidden symmetries of QCD

We construct a new effective field theory approach to the equation of state(EoS), dubbed pseudo-confomal model 'PCM', for nuclear and compact star matter entirely in terms of effective hadron degrees of freedom. The possible transition at n ^(2-4)n0(where n0 is the normal nuclear matter density) from hadron degrees of freedom to strongly-coupled quark degrees of freedom,giving rise to a soft-to-hard changeover in the EoS that can accommodate the massive stars observed, is effectuated by the topology change at n1/2>~ 2n0 from skyrmions to half-skyrmions without involving local order-parameter fields. The mechanism exploits possible emergence of hidden scale and local symmetries of QCD at high density, leading to a precocious 'pseudo-conformal'sound velocity vs2= 1/3(in unit of c = 1) for n>~ 3n0. The resulting prediction signals a drastic departure from standard nuclear many-body theory in the density regime involved in the massive stars. We suggest that the tidal deformability implemented in gravitational waves coming from coalescing neutron stars in LIGO/Virgo-type observations could pin down the location of the topology change density n1/2.

Experiments on two cavitation bubbles,which are generated at the same instant,with three different sizes near solid wall are conducted and their impulses on the boundary are registered by polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)*** to being near the boundary,bubble interactions and deformed features are in contrast with those in infinite fluid *** this paper,five morphologies of bubble deformation during growth and collapse phases are observed by high-speed *** profiles are strongly influenced by inter-bubble distance(η),stand-off distance from boundary(γ),and bubble size *** of photographs coupled with sensor measurements enabled qualitative investigation of two bubble interactions on the *** sensor data acquisition,it is confirmed that lower bigger bubble with upper smaller bubble configuration produces highest impulses on the boundary compared with other vertical arrangements of the tandem cavitation bubble employed in this study.

To unlock the full potential of PSCs,machine learning(ML)was implemented in this research to predict the optimal combination of mesoporous-titanium dioxide(mp-TiO_(2))and weight percentage(wt%)of phenyl-C_(61)-butyric acid methyl ester(PCBM),along with the current density(J_(sc)),open-circuit voltage(V_(oc)),fill factor(ff),and energy conversion efficiency(ECE).Then,the combination that yielded the highest predicted ECE was selected as a reference to fabricate PCBM-PSCs with nanopatterned TiO_(2)***,the PCBM-PSCs with nanopatterned TiO_(2)layers were fabricated and characterized to further understand the effects of nanopatterning depth and wt%of PCBM on ***,the highest ECE of 17.338%is achieved at 127 nm nanopatterning depth and 0.10 wt%of PCBM,where the J_(sc),V_(oc),and ff are 22.877 mA cm^(-2),0.963 V,and 0.787,*** measured J_(sc),V_(oc),ff,and ECE values show consistencies with the ML ***,these findings not only revealed the potential of ML to be used as a preliminary investigation to navigate the research of PSCs but also highlighted that nanopatterning depth has a significant impact on J_(sc),and the incorporation of PCBM on perovskite layer influenced the V_(oc)and ff,which further boosted the performance of PSCs.

Free fatty acids(FFAs), which are elevated with metabolic syndrome, are considered the principal offender exerting lipotoxicity. Few previous studies have reported a causal relationship between FFAs and osteoarthritis pathogenesis. However, the molecular mechanism by which FFAs exert lipotoxicity and induce osteoarthritis remains largely unknown. We here observed that oleate at the usual clinical range does not exert lipotoxicity while oleate at high pathological ranges exerted lipotoxicity through apoptosis in articular chondrocytes. By investigating the differential effect of oleate at toxic and nontoxic concentrations, we revealed that lipid droplet(LD) accumulation confers articular chondrocytes, the resistance to lipotoxicity. Using high fat diet-induced osteoarthritis models and articular chondrocytes treated with oleate alone or oleate plus palmitate, we demonstrated that articular chondrocytes gain resistance to lipotoxicity through protein kinase casein kinase 2(PKCK2)—six-transmembrane protein of prostate 2(STAMP2)—and fat-specific protein 27(FSP27)-mediated LD accumulation. We further observed that the exertion of FFAs-induced lipotoxicity was correlated with the increased concentration of cellular FFAs freed from LDs, whether FFAs are saturated or not. In conclusion, PKCK2/STAMP2/FSP27-mediated sequestration of FFAs in LD rescues osteoarthritic chondrocytes. PKCK2/STAMP2/FSP27 should be considered for interventions against metabolic OA.

Objective： Cheongseoikki-tang （CIT, Korean）, also called Qingshu Yiqi decoction（清署益气汤）and Seisho-ekki-to （Japanese）, is well known as an effective traditional combination of herbs for treating cardiovascular diseases. This study was to research its effects on bone marrow-derived mast cell （BMMC）-mediated allergy and inflammation mechanisms. Methods： In this study, the biological effect of Cheongseoikki-tang ethanol extract （CITE） was evaluated, focusing on its effects on the production of allergic mediators by phorbol 12-myfistate 13-acetate （PMA） plus calcium ionophore A23187 （A23187）-stimulated BMMCs. These allergic mediators included intedeukin-6 （IL-6）, prostaglandin D2 （PGD2）, leukotfiene （34 （LTC4）, and β-hexosaminidase （13-hex）. Results： Our data revealed that CITE inhibited the production of IL-6, PGD2,/TC4, and 15-hex induced by PMA plus A23187 （P〈0.05）. Conclusion： These findings indicate that CITE has the potential for use in the treatment of allergy.

AIM To investigate the effects of a water extract of Hwangryunhaedok-tang(HHTE) on the pacemaker potentials of mouse interstitial cells of Cajal(ICCs).METHODS We dissociated ICCs from small intestines and cultured. ICCs were immunologically identified using an antic-kit antibody. We used the whole-cell patch-clamp configuration to record the pacemaker potentials generated by cultured ICCs under the current clamp mode(I = 0). All experiments were performed at 30 ℃-32 ℃RESULTS HHTE dose-dependently depolarized ICC pacemaker potentials. Pretreatment with a 5-HT_3 receptor anta-gonist(Y25130) or a 5-HT_4 receptor antagonist(RS39604) blocked HHTE-induced pacemaker potential depolarizations, whereas pretreatment with a 5-HT7 receptor antagonist(SB269970) did not. Intracellular GDPβS inhibited HHTE-induced pacemaker potential depolarization and pretreatment with a Ca^(2+)-free solution or thapsigargin abolished the pacemaker potentials. In the presence of a Ca^(2+)-free solution or thapsigargin, HHTE did not depolarize ICC pacemaker potentials. In addition, HHTE-induced pacemaker potential depolarization was unaffected by a PKC inhibitor(calphostin C) or a rho kinase inhibitor(Y27632). Of the four ingredients of HHT, Coptidis Rhizoma and Gardeniae Fructus more effectively inhibited pacemaker potential *** These results suggest that HHTE dose-dependently depolarizes ICC pacemaker potentials through 5-HT_3 and 5-HT_4 receptors via external and internal Ca^(2+) regulation and via G protein-, PKC-and rho kinase-independent pathways.
