Increasing sulfur utilization in lithium-sulfur batteries by a Co-MOF-74@MWCNT interlayer

To improve lithium-sulfur battery performance,Co-MOF-74 has been applied for the first time as an interlayer with multiwalled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs).Co-MOF-74@MWCNT was synthesized using a solvothermal *** fabrication of Co-MOF-74@MWCNT was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction,thermogravimetric analysis,and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller *** interlayer was fabricated using a filtration *** batteries were prepared using a CoMOF-74@MWCNT interlayer and an MWCNT interlayer and subsequently investigated via cyclic voltammetry ***-MOF-74 promotes a redox reaction and shows a small peak at 1.85 V.A symmetric and full cell test revealed that the Co-MOF-74@MWCNT cell enables a faster redox reaction and higher capacity than that of the MWCNT *** 15 cycles,the Co-MOF-74@MWCNT cell achieved a value of 1112 mAh g^(-1),which is 26% greater than that of the MWCNT cell(880 mAh g^(-1)) at 0.2 *** profile testing showed that the reason for the higher capacity of the Co-MOF-74@MWCNT cell is that it promotes the conversion of Li_(2)S_(2) to Li_(2)*** electrochemical analyses confirmed that the Co-MOF-74@MWCNT interlayer acts not only as a physical and chemical barrier but also promotes the transformation of Li_(2)S_(2) to Li_(2)S.

Waste energy harvesting can contribute to the increase of the efficiency of many industrial processes,which consume energy to produce valuable *** all the wasted energy,heat energy is the most abundant,existing in almost any *** devices have the capability to harvest and convert the thermal energy into electrical power via the Seebeck *** its simple operating principle,thermoelectric devices can be reliable even under the harshest environments,taking advantage of any type of heat *** a result,various inorganic and organic materials are being explored as thermoelectric *** the reported materials,carbon-based materials are promising in terms of commericialization,due to their nontoxic and abundant nature,and solution *** particular,poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate(PEDOT:PSS),carbon nanotubes,and graphene are extensively studied as thermoelectric materials owing to their remarkable thermoelectric ***,organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskites show the potential to be used as future high-performance thermoelectric ***,the progess in carbon materials as thermoelectrics is reviewed in detail,focusing on four base materials(PEDOT:PSS,carbon nanotubes,graphene,and organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskites).This review illuminates the potential of carbon-based materials in the field of thermoelectrics and their application to next-generation energy devices.

Electrodeposited Ni-W-TiC Composite Coatings:Effect of TiC Reinforcement on Microstructural and Tribological Properties

Ni-W-TiC composite coatings were prepared via electrodeposition technique by dispersing the different amount of TiC particles into the plating *** Ni-W and Ni-W-TiC composite coatings containing different concentrations of TiC particles were characterized by using the scanning electron microscope,X-ray diffraction technique,Vickers microhardness test,surface roughness test,and tribology *** results show that the Ni-W coatings containing reinforced TiC particles have shown a typical FCC Ni-W crystal structure with significantly higher Vickers *** amount of dispersed TiC particles into the plating bath considerably affected codeposition weight percent of TiC into the Ni-W matrix,as revealed by the EDS ***-W-TiC samples demonstrated the decreased abrasive wear as compared to Ni-W coating and no characteristic features observed for the adhesive ***,an improvement in coefficient of friction was observed in Ni-W-TiC composite coating as compared to Ni-W coating.

The present work aims to study the influence of direct current and pulse current techniques as well as embedded SiC nanoparticles on the mechanical properties of the electrodeposited Ni-W *** electrodeposited coatings were studied for morphological,microstructural,mechanical,and scratch resistance properties using the surface roughness tester,scanning electron microscopy,energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction,Vickers microhardness,and scratch *** of pulse current exhibited relatively homogeneous and smooth surface of the coatings.A remarkable increment of microhardness was observed in both Ni-W and Ni-W-SiC coatings prepared under pulse current as compared to the direct current ***,the scratch test revealed a considerable improvement in the scratch resistance behavior of the Ni-W alloy and the composite coatings from the pulsed current ***,the application of pulse current not only improved the surface-and microstructure-related properties but also enhanced the Vickers microhardness and scratch resistance properties of the *** addition,the reduction in micro-cracks revealed the improvement in scratch resistance properties of the coatings due to the incorporated SiC nanoparticles into the Ni-W alloy matrix.

A wave forecasting system using FUNWAVE-TVD which is based on the fully nonlinear Boussinesq equations by Chen(2006)was developed to provide an accurate wave prediction in the Port of Busan,South *** system is linked to the Korea Operational Oceanographic System(KOOS)developed by Park et al.(2015).The computational domain covers a region of 9.6 km×7.0 km with a grid size of 2 m in both directions,which is sufficient to resolve short waves and dominant sea *** total number of grid points exceeds 16 millions,making the model computational *** provide real-time forecasting,an interpolation method,which is based on pre-calculated results of FUNWAVE-TVD and SWAN forecasting results at the FUNWAVE-TVD offshore boundary,was used.A total of 45 cases were pre-calculated,which took 71 days on 924 computational cores of a Linux cluster *** wave generation and propagation from the deep water were computed using the SWAN in *** results provided a boundary condition for the FUNWAVE-TVD forecasting *** verify the model,wave observations were conducted at three locations inside the port in a time period of more than 7 months.A model/model comparison between FUNWAVE-TVD and SWAN was also carried *** is found that,FUNWAVE-TVD improves the forecasting results significantly compared to SWAN which underestimates wave heights in sheltered areas due to incorrect physical mechanism of wave diffraction,as well as large wave heights caused by wave reflections inside the port.

Two-dimensional(2D)materials have recently provided a new perspective on optoelectronics because of their unique layered structure and excellent physical ***,their potential use as optoelectric devices has been limited by the trade-off between photoresponsivity and response ***,based on a vertically stacked atomically thin p-n junction,we propose a gap-mode plasmon structure that simultaneously enables enhanced responsivity and rapid *** atomically thin 2D materials act as a spacer for enhancing the gap-mode plasmons,and their short transit length in the vertical direction allows fast photocarrier *** demonstrate a high responsivity of up to 8.67 A/W with a high operation speed that exceeds 35 MHz under a 30 nW laser *** photocurrent,absorption,and a numerical simulation are used to verify the effectiveness of the gap-mode plasmons in the *** believe that the design strategy proposed in this study can pave the way for a platform to overcome the trade-off between responsivity and response time.

We demonstrate a new technique of measuring differential carrier lifetime and linewidth enhancement factor in a semiconductor optical amplifier. In our method, the optical responses and fiber transfer functions of a self-gain modulated SOA are measured and, from these, values of carrier lifetimes and linewidth enhancement factors are determined for various SOA input optical powers.

Polyelectrolyte complex micelles were prepared by self-assembly of polypeptide-based triblock copolymer as a new drug carrier for cancer *** triblock copolymer,poly(L-aspartic acid)-b-poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(L-aspartic acid)(PLD-b-PEG-b-PLD),spontaneously self-assembled with doxorubicin(DOX)via electrostatic interactions to form spherical micelles with a particle size of 60e80 nm(triblock ionomer complexes micelles,TBIC micelles).These micelles exhibited a high loading capacity of 70%(w/w)at a drug/polymer ratio of 0.5 at pH *** showed pH-responsive release patterns,with higher release at acidic pH than at physiological ***,DOX-loaded TBIC micelles exerted less cytotoxicity than free DOX in the A-549 human lung cancer cell *** microscopy in A-549 cells indicated that DOX-loaded TBIC micelles were transported into lysosomes via *** micelles possessed favorable pharmacokinetic characteristics and showed sustained DOX release in ***,these findings indicate that PLDb-PEG-b-PLD polypeptide micelles are a promising approach for anti-cancer drug delivery.

Quantitative comparison of similarity measure and entropy for fuzzy sets

Comparison and data analysis with the similarity measures and entropy for fuzzy sets were carried out. The distance proportional value between the fuzzy set and the corresponding crisp set was considered by the fuzzy entropy. The relation between the similarity measure and the entropy for fuzzy set was also analyzed. The fuzzy entropy was reformulated as the dissimilarity measure. Furthermore, crisp set having the minimum uncertainty with respect to the corresponding fuzzy set was also proposed. Finally, derivation of a similarity measure from entropy with the help of total information property was derived. A simple example shows the relation between similarity measure and fuzzy entropy, in which the summation of similarity measure and fuzzy entropy represents a constant value.
