Herein,we have designed a highly active and robust trifunctional electrocatalyst derived from Prussian blue analogs,where Co_(4)n nanoparticles are encapsulated by Fe embedded in n-doped carbon nanocubes to synthesize hierarchically structured Co_(4)n@Fe/n-C for rechargeable zinc-air batteries and overall water-splitting *** confirmed by theoretical and experimental results,the high intrinsic oxygen reduction reaction,oxygen evolution reaction,and hydrogen evolution reaction activities of Co_(4)n@Fe/n-C were attributed to the formation of the heterointerface and the modulated local electronic ***,Co_(4)n@Fe/n-C induced improvement in these trifunctional electrocatalytic activities owing to the hierarchical hollow nanocube structure,uniform distribution of Co_(4)n,and conductive encapsulation by Fe/***,the rechargeable zinc-air battery with Co_(4)n@Fe/n-C delivers a high specific capacity of 789.9 mAh g^(-1) and stable voltage profiles over 500 ***,the overall water electrolyzer with Co_(4)n@Fe/n-C achieved better durability and rate performance than that with the Pt/C and IrO2 catalysts,delivering a high Faradaic efficiency of 96.4%.Along with the great potential of the integrated water electrolyzer powered by a zinc-air battery for practical applications,therefore,the mechanistic understanding and active site identification provide valuable insights into the rational design of advanced multifunctional electrocatalysts for energy storage and conversion.

The polymeric gel electrolytes are attractive owing to their higher ionic conductivities than those of dry polymer electrolytes and lowered water activity for enlarged potential ***,the ionic conductivity and mechanical strength of the na-ion conducting polymeric gel electrolytes are limited by below 20 mS cm−1 and 2.2 ***,we demonstrate na-ion conducting and flexible polymeric hydrogel electrolytes of the chemically coupled poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride)-dextrin-n,n′-methylene-bisacrylamide film immersed in naClO_(4) solution(ex-DDA-Dex+naClO_(4))for flexible sodium-ion hybrid capacitors(f-nIHC).In particular,the anion exchange reaction and synergistic interaction of ex-DDA-Dex with the optimum ClO_(4)−enable to greatly improve the ionic conductivity up to 27.63 mS cm−1 at 25◦C and electrochemical stability window up to 2.6 V,whereas the double networking structure leads to achieve both the mechanical strength(7.48 MPa)and softness of hydrogel ***,the f-nIHCs with the ex-DDA-Dex+naClO_(4) achieved high specific and high-rate capacities of 192.04 F g^(−1)at 500 mA g^(−1)and 116.06 F g^(−1)at 10000 mA g^(−1),respectively,delivering a large energy density of 120.03Wh kg^(−1)at 906Wkg^(−1)and long cyclability of 70%over 500 cycles as well as demonstrating functional operation under mechanical stresses.

Clinicopathologic significance of GLUT1 expression and its correlation with Apaf-1 in colorectal adenocarcinomas

AIM:To investigate the role of glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) expression in colorectal carcinogenesis and evaluate the correlation with clinicopathological parameters and apoptosis-activating factor-1 (Apaf-1) expression in colorectal adenocarcinomas. METHODS:We used tissue microarrays consisting of 26 normal mucosa,50 adenomas,515 adenocarcinomas,and 127 metastatic lesions. Medical records were reviewed and clinicopathological analysis was performed. RESULTS:GLUT1 expression was absent in normal mucosa and low or moderately apparent in 19 cases (38.0%) of 50 adenomas. However,GLUT1 expression was detected in 423 (82.1%) of 515 adenocarcinomas and in 96 (75.6%) of 127 metastatic lesions. GLUT1 expression was significantly correlated with female gender (P = 0.009),non-mucinous tumor type (P = 0.045),poorer differentiation (P = 0.001),lymph node metastasis (P nd Dukes stage (P nd P nificant inverse correlation between GLUT1 expression and Apaf-1 expression (P = 0.001). In univariate survival analysis,patients with GLUT1 expression demonstrated poor overall survival and disease-free survival (P = 0.047 and P = 0.021,respectively,log-rank test). COnCLUSIOn:GLUT1 expression was frequently increased in adenocarcinomas and metastatic lesions. GLUT1 expression was significantly correlated with poorer clinicopathologic phenotypes and survival of patients with colorectal adenocarcinomas.

Inhibition of CD82 improves colitis by increasing nLRP3 deubiquitination by BRCC3

CD82 is a transmembrane protein that is involved in cancer suppression and activates immune cells;however, information on the nLRP3 inflammasome is limited. Herein, we show that although CD82 suppressed the activation of the nLRP3 inflammasome in vivo and in vitro, CD82 deficiency decreased the severity of colitis in mice. Furthermore, two binding partners of CD82, nLRP3 and BRCC3, were identified. CD82 binding to these partners increased the degradation of nLRP3 by blocking BRCC3-dependent K63-specific deubiquitination. Previous studies have shown that CD82-specific bacteria in the colon microbiota called Bacteroides vulgatus (B. vulgatus) regulated the expression of CD82 and promoted the activation of the nLRP3 inflammasome. Accordingly, we observed that B. vulgatus administration increased mouse survival by mediating CD82 expression and activating nLRP3 in mice with colitis. Overall, this study showed that CD82 suppression reduced the pathogenesis of colitis by elevating the activation of the nLRP3 inflammasome through BRCC3-dependent K63 deubiquitination. Based on our findings, we propose that B. vulgatus is a novel therapeutic candidate for colitis.

Optical Vernier sampling using a dual-comb-swept laser to solve distance aliasing

Optical interferometry using comb-swept lasers has the advantage of efficiently reducing the acquisition bandwidth for high-speed and long-range detection. However, in general, the use of a comb-swept laser involves a critical limitation in that the absolute distance cannot be measured, and, thus, multiple layers cannot be distinguished when measuring each position. This is because of the distance ambiguity induced by optical aliasing, in which there is periodic repetition of the frequency of an interferometric signal owing to discrete spectral sweeping, which does not occur in conventional optical interferometry that uses a continuous swept laser. In this paper, we introduce an optical Vernier sampling method using a dual-comb-swept laser to measure the absolute distances in a multi-layer target. For this, we designed a new type of dual-comb-swept laser to include two different free spectral ranges(FSRs) in separated wavelength bands to provide a stable lasing condition. Using a principle similar to that of a Vernier caliper for length measurement, the two different FSRs can be used to recover a higher frequency of an optical interferometric signal to measure longer distances from different layers in a *** the dual-comb-swept laser in optical interferometry, we solved the optical aliasing issue and measured the absolute distances of three layers separated over 83 mm using a point-scanning imaging setup and the simultaneous absolute distance of the top surfaces separated over 45 mm using a full-field imaging setup at14 and 8 times lower acquisition bandwidth than a conventional continuous swept laser that is based on optical interferometry.

Therapeutic efficacy and stent patency of transhepatic portal vein stenting after surgery

AIM To evaluate portal vein(PV) stenosis and stent patency after hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, using abdominal computed tomography(CT).METHODS Percutaneous portal venous stenting was attempted in 22 patients with significant PV stenosis(> 50%)-after hepatobiliary or pancreatic surgery- diagnosed by abdominal CT. Stents were placed in various stenotic lesions after percutaneous transhepatic portography. Pressure gradient across the stenotic segment was measured in 14 patients. Stents were placed when the pressure gradient across the stenotic segment was > 5 mm Hg or PV stenosis was > 50%, as observed on transhepatic portography. Patients underwent followup abdominal CT and technical and clinical success, complications, and stent patency were *** Stent placement was successful in 21 patients(technical success rate: 95.5%). Stents were positioned through the main PV and superior mesenteric vein(n = 13), main PV(n = 2), right and main PV(n = 1), left and main PV(n = 4), or main PV and splenic vein(n = 1). Patients showed no complications after stent placement. The time between procedure and final follow-up CT was 41-761 d(mean: 374.5 d). Twenty stents remained patent during the entire follow-up. Stent obstruction-caused by invasion of the PV stent by a recurrent tumor- was observed in 1 patient in a follow-up CT performed after 155 d after the procedure. The cumulative stent patency rate was 95.7%. Small in-stent low-density areas were found in 11(55%) patients; however, during successive follow-up CT, the extent of these areas had *** Percutaneous transhepatic stent placement can be safe and effective in cases of PV stenosis after hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. Stents show excellent patency in follow-up abdominal CT, despite development of small in-stent low-density areas.
