Chinese topical herbal medicine gives additive effect on pharmaceutical agent on fracture healing

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the efficacy on the combination of oral strontium ranelate(Sr R)with a topical Chinese herbal paste on facilitation of fracture ***:An open fracture was created at the mid-shaft of the right tibia of rat.A herbal pastecalled CDR containing Honghua(Flos Carthami),Chuanxuduan(Radix Dipsaci Asperoidis)and Dahuang(Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei Palmati)was *** rats were treated with either CDR topically on the fracture site,or Sr R orally,or their *** turnover biochemical markers in serum were *** of the fracture was analyzed using micro-CT after 14 and 28 d,followed by histomorphometrical ***:Micro-computed tomography analysis revealed that the combined treatment of CDR with600 mg/g Sr R significantly increased the total callus density,mineralized callus volume fraction,mineralized callus mineral content and mineralized callus density of the callus after 28 d of *** result was consistent with the histomorphometrical analysis on the osteoid *** of biochemical markers showed that the combined treatments reduced the bone resorption that occurs temporarily after ***:This study demonstrated that the combined treatment of oral Sr R and topical CDR is effective to promote fracture healing by their additive effect on promoting bone formation and retarding bone resorption.

A Novel OFDM Receiver with Optimum Second Order Polynomial Nyquist Windowing

This paper proposes a new receive scheme and a class of time domain second order polynomial Nyquist window functions, and applies them to Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing （ OFDM ） systems in order to reduce Inter-Carrier Interference （ICI） induced by frequency offset. This paper also analyzes the Signal to ICI plus Noise Ratio （SINR） and Bit Error Rate （BER） performances of the receiver. Additionally, this paper proposes a method to select optimum window parameters to maximize the SINR of the receiver thus providing an adaptive receiving capability. Our results show that the proposed method enables the use of unity roll-off factor, provides better SINR and BER than conventional receive methods whose roll-off factors are generally less than one. The new second order polynomial window is shown to provide better performance than raised cosine and ＂better than ＂ Nyquist window.

Recycled concrete aggregate(RCA)derived from demolition waste has been widely explored for use in civil engineering *** of the promising strategies globally is to incorporate RCA into concrete ***,the use of RCA in high-performance concrete,such as self-consolidating concrete(SCC),has only been studied in the past *** paper summarizes recent publications on the use of coarse and/or fine RCA in *** expected,the high-water absorption and porous structure of RCA have posed challenges in producing a high-fluidity *** to an analysis of published data,a lower strength reduction(within 23%regardless of coarse RCA content)is observed in SCC compared with vibrated concrete,possibly due to the higher paste content in the SCC matrix,which enhances the weak surface layer of RCA and interfacial transition ***,SCC tends to become less durable with RCA substitution although the deterioration can be minimized by using treated RCA through removing or strengthening the adhered *** date,the information reported on the role of RCA in the long-term performance of SCC is still limited;thus,a wide range of research is needed to demonstrate the feasibility of RCA–SCC in field applications.

Syntheses,structures,and reactivity of ruthenium(Ⅱ) hydride complexes containing Klui's oxygen tripodal ligand

Treatment of Ru(CO)(Cl)(H)(PPh3)3 with NaLOEt (LOEt-= [CpCo{P(O)(OEt)2}3]-) afforded the hydride complex (PPh3)(CO)-LOEtRu(H) (1), which has been characterized by X-ray crystallography. Similarly, the tricyclohexylphosphine analogue, (PCy3)(CO)LOEtRu(H) (2), was synthesized from Ru(CO)Cl(H)(PCy3)2 and NaLOEt. Treatment of complex 1 with R'SO2N3 afforded the (arylsulfonyl)amido complexes LOEtRu(CO)(PPh3)(NHSO2R) (R = 2,4,6-i-Pr3C6H2 (3), 4-t-BuC6H4 (4)). The crystal structure of complex 3 has been determined. The Ru-N distance and Ru-N-S angle in 3 are 2.076(3) and 126.14(16)°, respectively. Reactions of complex 1 with acids have been studied.

Seropharmacological Study on Osteogenic Effects of Post-Absorption Ingredients of An Osteoprotective Herbal Formula

Objective： To further investigate the in vitro effects of an osteoprotective herbal formula ＂ELP＂（Herba Epimedii, Fructus Ligustri Lucidi and Fructus Psora/eae） using seropharmacological approach. Methods： Rats were fed with ELP or its individual component herbs for 2 days. The serum containing the post-absorbed ingredients of the herbal items were collected for cell culture using UMR106 cell, RAW264.7 cell and mesenchymal stem cell （MSC） isolated from the bone marrow of the rats. The effects of the herbal-containing serum on cell toxicity were detected by 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay; bromodeoxyuridine assay was conducted to measure the cell proliferation of UMR106 cell and MSC; cell activity was measured using colorimetric method, and mRNA expression of runt-related transcription factor 2 （Runx2）, alkaline phosphatase （ALP） and osteopontin （OPN） of UMR106 and MSC as well as matrix metalloproteinase 9 （MMP-9）, tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase （TRAP） and cathepsin K of RAW264.7 were analyzed using real-time reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction. Results： ELP and its component serum exhibited no cytotoxic effects on the cells. The ELP-containing serum increased the proliferation of UMR106 cell and MSC by 25.7% and 14.4%, respectively and the alkaline phosphatase activity of MSC was increased by 42.6%. On the contrary, it inhibited the RAW264.7 cell differentiation by 29.2%. ELP serum upregulated the Runx2 expression of UMR and MSC by 1.18 fold and 1.27 fold, respectively. It also upregulated ALP and OPN expression in MSC by 1.69- and 2.12-fold, respectively. On the other hand, ELP serum down-regulated MMP-9 and cathepsin K expression of RAW264.7 cell by 0.46- and 0.36-fold, respectively. Conclusions： The serum of the animals fed with ELP contains active ingredients which are effective in promoting osteogenesis and inhibiting osteoclastogenesis.

Soft Computing Based Procurement Planning of Time-variable Demand in Manufacturing Systems

Procurement planning with discrete time varying demand is an important problem in Enterprise Resource Planning （ERP）. It can be described using the non-analytic mathematical programming model proposed in this paper. To solve the model we propose to use a fuzzy decision embedded genetic algorithm. The algorithm adopts an order strategy selection to simplify the original real optimization problem into binary ones. Then, a fuzzy decision quantification method is used to quantify experience from planning experts. Thus, decision rules can easily be embedded in the computation of genetic operations. This approach is applied to purchase planning problem in a practical machine tool works, where satisfactory results have been achieved.

Clinical Considerations of Coagulopathy in Acute Liver Failure

Acute liver failure (ALF) is the rapid onset of severe liver dysfunction, defined by the presence of hepatic encephalop-athy and impaired synthetic function (international normal-ized ratio of≥1.5) in the absence of underlying liver disease. The elevated international normalized ratio value in ALF is often misinterpreted as an increased hemorrhagic tendency, which can lead to inappropriate, prophylactic transfusions of blood products. However, global assessments of coagulop-athy via viscoelastic tests or thrombin generation assay suggest a reestablished hemostatic, or even hypercoagu-lable, status in patients with ALF. Although the current versions of global assays are not perfect, they can provide more nuanced insights into the hemostatic system in ALF than the conventional measures of coagulopathy.

Periodic Tail Motion Linked to Wing Motion Affects the Longitudinal Stability of Ornithopter Flight

During slow level flight of a pigeon, a caudal muscle involved in tail movement, the levator caudae pars vertebralis, is activated at a particular phase with the pectoralis wing muscle. Inspired by mechanisms for the control of stability in flying animals, especially the role of the tail in avian flight, we investigated how periodic tail motion linked to motion of the wings affects the longitudinal stability of ornithopter flight. This was achieved by using an integrative ornithopter flight simulator that included aeroelastic behaviour of the flexible wings and tail. Trim flight trajectories of the simulated omithopter model were calculated by time integration of the nonlinear equations of a flexible multi-body dynamics coupled with a semi-empirical flapping-wing and tail aerodynamic models. The unique trim flight characteristics of ornithopter, Limit-Cycle Oscillation, were found under the sets of wingbeat frequency and tail elevation angle, and the appropriate phase angle of tail motion was determined by parameter studies minimizing the amplitude of the oscillations. The numerical simulation results show that tail actuation synchronized with wing motion suppresses the oscillation of body pitch angle over a wide range of wingbeat frequencies.

In international trade,exporters prefer to receive payments as quickly as possible,and importers want to make payments as late as *** this respect,the payment field,an essential condition for trade transactions,also represents the positions of exporters and importers *** addition,there are many cases in which various variables must be considered rather than only one specific variable representatively affecting payment,particularly in the case of import-export Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises(SMEs)from emerging countries.A selection of proper payment methods can be categorized as a Multi-Criteria Decision-Making(MCDM)***,this study aims to propose a novel and efficient Spherical Fuzzy Weighted Aggregated Sum Product Assessment based Entropy Objective Weighting method(SF-EW and WASPAS-SF)to evaluate international payment methods with uncertain ***,SF-EW model is applied to determine the relative weights of critical ***,international payment method alternatives are prioritized by the WASPAS-SF *** essential factors for four international payment methods are proposed based on experts’opinions and the existing literature.A real-world case study from Vietnamese import-export SMEs is presented to validate the applicability of the proposed *** results indicated that“Characteristics of payment method(PA)”had the most significant impact on international payment method *** comparison,“Letters of Credit(L/C)”was the most reliable payment method with the highest ranking available to international ***,a sensitivity analysis was performed to examine the validity and robustness of the proposed decision support ***,this study could contribute to international payment services and in the context of globalization and international trade.
