Dear Editor,Glial tumors (80%), astrocytomas, and ependymomas are the most frequent histological types of intramedullary spinal cord tumors (Bansal et al., 2013). intramedullary tumors spanning three or more vertebral body levels are considered multi-segment intramedullary spinal cord tumors and have a much lower incidence than less involved tumors (Wang et al., 2012). We prospectively studied 81 consecutive patients who underwent resection of intramedullary spinal cord gliomas at a single medical center (The Neurosurgery Department of Peking University Third Hospital) between January 2010 and December 2015 to compare the neurological function and prognosis of patients with seldom-segment and multiple-segment intramedullary spinal cord gliomas.

The efficacy of pelvic radiation in the management of locally advanced stage rectal cancer has come under scrutiny in the context of modern precision medicine and systemic therapy as evidenced by recent clinical trials such as FOWARC(J Clin Oncol 2019;37:3223-3233),NCT04165772(N Engl J Med 2022;386:2363-2376),and PROSPECT(N Engl J Med 2023;389:322-334).in this review,we comprehensively assess these pivotal trials and offer additional insights into the evolving role of pelvic radiation in contemporary oncology.

The nano-titanium dioxide (nano-TiO_2) sensing membrane,fabricated by sol-gel technology,was used as the pH-sensing layer of the extended gate field effect transistor (EGFET) *** objective of this research is the preparation of titanium dioxide materials by sol-gel method using Ti(OBu)_4 as the *** this study,we fabricated a nano-titanium dioxide sensing layer on the iTO glass by dip *** order to examine the sensitivity of the nano-TiO_2 films applied to the EGFET devices,we adopted the iTO glass as substrate,and measured theⅠ_(DS)-Ⅴ_G curves of the nano-titanium dioxide separative structure EGFET device in the pH buffer solutions that have different pH values by the Keithley 236 *** the experimental results,we can obtain the pH sensitivities of the EGFET with nano-TiO_2 sensing membrane prepared by sol-gel method,which is 59.86mV/pH from pH 1 to pH 9.

We use the carbon nanotube (CNT) as the material of the pH sensing layer of the separative structure for the extended gate H^+-ion sensitive field effect transistor (EGFET) *** CNT paste was prepared with CNT powder,Ag powder,silicagel,the di-n-butyl phthalate and the toluene solvents by appropriate ratio,then immobilized on the silicon substrate to form the carbon nanotube sensing *** measured theⅠ_(DS)-Ⅴ_G curves of the carbon nanotube separative structure EGFET device in the different pH buffer solutions by the Keithley 236Ⅰ-Ⅴmeasurement *** to the experimental results,we can obtain the pH sensitivities of the carbon nanotube separative structure EGFET device,which is 62.54mV/pH from pH1 to pH13.

This work successfully developed an energy- saving glass with wavelength selectivity. The glass is composed of a SiO2 substrate and two layers of three- dimensional photonic crystals. Each crystal is composed of identical and transparent polystyrene spheres after their self-assembling. The glass then possesses dual photonic band gaps in the near-infrared region to suppress penetration of thermal radiation. Experimental results show that the energy-saving glass decreases temperature increment in a mini-house. Moreover, the temperature after thermal equilibrium is lower than that inside a counterpart using ordinary glass.

An on-line full scan inspection system is developed for particle size analysis. A particle image is first obtained through optical line scan technology and is then analyzed using digital image processing. The system is composed of a particle separation module, an image acquisition module, an image processing module, and an electric control module. Experiments are carried out using non-uniform 0.1 mm particles. The main advantage of this system consists of a full analysis of particles without any overlap or miss, thus improving the Area Scan Charge Coupled Device （CCD） acquisition problems. Particle size distribution, roundness, and sphericity can be obtained using the system with a deviation of repeated precision of around ±1%. The developed system is shown to be also convenient and versatile for any particle size and shape for academic and industrial users.

BACKGROUND The phrase “floating knee is a flail knee joint,” referring to ipsilateral femoral and tibial fractures,was first used by Blake and Mc Bryde in *** condition is often caused by a high-energy trauma with often extensive injury to the soft tissues,and is accompanied by life-threatening systemic complications,including head,chest or abdominal injuries and a high incidence of fat *** knee is a severe and uncommon injury *** SUMMARY A 27-year-old man sustained multiple injuries when the electric motorcycle he was riding was hit by a *** injuries included traumatic hypovolemic shock,comminuted and open type ii fractures of the left femoral shaft,fracture of the right femoral shaft,comminuted fracture of the bilateral tibial and fibular shaft,and multiple lacerations and abrasions on his forehead,lower lip,neck and *** diagnosis was simultaneous bilateral floating knee complicated with soft tissue *** emergency treatment and the exclusion of life-threating complications,open reduction and internal fixation were successfully performed using plates and screws in the bilateral femoral and tibial *** Simultaneous bilateral floating knee is a rare and severe injury *** treatment is challenging,and *** present a case report of a young adult who suffered from bilateral floating knees during road traffic *** also offer our treatment experience of this complex injury and review past literature.

BACKGROUND Unilateral exophthalmos is often caused by inflammation, neoplasm, infection,metabolic disease, vascular disorder and several other less common *** sympathetic dystrophy related to unilateral exophthalmos has not been reported in the past *** SUMMARY We describe a 45-year-old female with unilateral exophthalmos caused by reflex sympathetic dystrophy and its unexpected spontaneous disappearance after a standard anterior cervical discectomy and fixation operation with two PEEK interbody cages and a plate. To our surprise, the patient’s left unilateral exophthalmos improved spontaneously in the morning on postoperative day 2-with no relapse, without any further medication, as of seven years. We have named this condition "cervicogenic exophthalmos."CONCLUSiON We would inform other clinicians that unilateral exophthalmos was caused not only by inflammation, vascular disorder, infection, neoplasm, or metabolic disease, but also by reflex sympathetic dystrophy related with cervicogenic spondylosis. To the best of our knowledge, ours is the first related case report and use of the term "cervicogenic exophthalmos" after reviewing previous literature.

BACKGROUND in the development of coronary stent technology,bioresorbable scaffolds are promising milestones in improving the clinical treatment of coronary artery ***“leave nothing behind”motto is the premise of the fourth revolution in percutaneous coronary intervention(PCi).Studies proving the safety and efficacy of the magnesium-based resorbable scaffolds(MgBRSs)include the BiOSOLVE-i and BiOSOLVE-ii trials and the latest BiOSOLVE-iV ***,spontaneous retrograde dissection of a partially absorbed MgBRS may still occur,albeit *** SUMMARY We describe an unusual case of coronary artery disease in a patient who had undergone a successful PCi 8 mo earlier,where an MgBRS was implanted into the left anterior descending artery(LAD)and left circumflex artery with drug-coated balloons for a ramus intermedius branch stenosis to achieve the“leave nothing behind”therapeutic intention and was currently presenting with a gradual worsening of chest *** distal edge vascular response,during subsequent attempts with balloon angioplasty was performed ***,spontaneous retrograde dissection of a partially absorbed MgBRS in the LAD *** bailout stenting was performed with revascularization of the entry and exit sites created by spontaneous dissection and complete sealing of the intramural *** patient recovered well and was discharged after 2 d of *** followed up in August 2020(7 mo later),the patient showed uneventful *** Spontaneous retrograde dissection of a partially absorbed MgBRS was successfully treated using bailout sirolimus-eluting coronary stent strategy.
