Mediator,a conserved multiprotein complex in animals,plants,and fungi,is a cofactor of RNA polymerase II(Pol II).It is known to promote basal Pol II-mediated transcription as well as bridge sequence-specific transcriptional regulators and Pol II to integrate regulatory *** II transcribes not only protein-coding genes but also intergenic regions to generate noncoding RNAs such as small RNAs(microRNAs and small interfering RNAs)and long noncoding ***,two plant-specific polymerases,Pol IV and Pol V,have evolved from Pol II and play a role in the production of small interfering RNAs and long noncoding RNAs at heterochromatic regions to maintain genome stability through transcriptional gene silencing(TGS).Recent studies have defined the composition of the plant Mediator and evaluated its role in noncoding RNA production in relationship to Pol II,Pol IV and Pol ***,we review the functions of Mediator and that of noncoding RNAs generated by Pol II,Pol IV and Pol V in plants,and discuss a role of Mediator in epigenetic regulation via noncoding RNA production.

A series of novel chelating fibers containing sulfur, nitrogen, oxygen heteroatoms were prepared via the functionalization of chloromethylated polyphenylene sulfide （CMPPS）. The structures, micromorpholo- gy and physicochemical properties of these fibrous adsorptive materials were characterized by FT-IR, elementary analysis, TG and SEM-EDS. The results show that chelating fibers had high functional group contents （3.94 mmol/g for thiourea, 3.85 mmol/g for mercapto, 5.00 mmol/g for methylamine and 6.07 mmol/g for ethylenediamine, respectively）. Owing to the unique matrix of polyphenylene sulfide fiber, these fibrous adsorbents possess excellent thermostability. This synthetic method proved a simple and efficient way for the preparation of chelating fibers.

Climate change will place agro-ecological systems and food security at serious risk. At the 21 st Conference of the Parties（COP21） in Paris in December of 2015, parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change（UNFCCC） reached a historic agreement（Paris Agreement） to combat climate change and to accelerate and intensify the actions and investments needed for a sustainable low carbon future. An initiative named the "4‰ initiative: Soils for food security and climate" was proposed by the French Minister of Agriculture, and this initiative was launched officially at the COP21 and adopted by many global organizations. The aim of this initiative was to increase carbon sequestration in soil to mitigate fossil fuel combustion emissions of greenhouse gasses. The present study found that China has high CO;emissions but a low soil carbon pool, and indicates that 4‰ increments of the soil carbon pool will not be sufficient to offset national CO;emissions. The current soil carbon sequestration rate would also not reach the mean level requested by the initiative. Therefore, China faces big challenges to achieve this initiative. An integrated use of straw technology may be used more widely to improve carbon sequestration, and other opportunities include improved fertilizer use efficiency and greenhouse gas mitigation through the waste management project under construction in China. This paper suggests that China may put forward the biomass treatment centered high yield and fertilizer-carbon sequestration project to enhance resilience of agro-ecosystems to climate change.

BACKGROUND Sleep-disordered breathing,including hypoventilation and obstructive sleep apnea,is often observed in Prader-Willi syndrome(PWS).Particularly in adolescence,scoliosis causes a progressive restrictive pulmonary pattern,leading to hypoventilation,so timely corrective surgery is ***,the effect is *** addition,since mental retardation of PWS,patient effort-based respiratory tests may be less *** far,no studies have accurately reported on the comparison of respiratory function before and after corrective surgery,and appropriate respiratory function measurement method in *** SUMMARY We present two cases of adolescent PWS with typical characteristics,including obesity,mental retardation,and *** boys,aged 12 and 13,diagnosed with PWS,both underwent scoliosis correction *** and immediately after surgery,arterial blood tests showed no abnormalities and no respiratory symptoms ***,after 6-7 mo,both patients complained of daytime sleepiness,difficulty sleeping at night,dyspnea on exertion,and showed *** and hypoxia were confirmed by polysomnography and transcutaneous CO2 monitoring during sleep and were diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and alveolar *** was corrected by nighttime noninvasive ventilation application and normal findings of arterial blood gas were maintained after 6-8 mo *** Even after scoliosis surgery,“periodic”monitoring of respiratory failure with an“objective”test method is needed for timely respiratory support.

Nitrogenase is a metalloprotein complex that catalyses the reaction of biological nitrogen fixation. At least three genetically distinct nitrogenase systems have been confirmed in diazotrophs, namely Nil, Vnf, and Anf, in which the active-site central metals are Mo, V, and Fe, respectively. The present review summarizes progress on the genetic, structural, and functional investigations into the three nitrogenases and discusses the possibility of the existence of other novel nitrogenases.

Gas Flow Distribution in Pelletizing Shaft Furnace

Through thermal test, cold state experiment, analysis and simulation of thermal process, the gas flow distribution in pelletizing shaft furnace （PSF） was discussed. The results show that there are five flowing trends among them, the downward roasting gas and the upward cooling gas are the most unsteady, which influence flow distribution greatly. Among the operating parameters, the ratio of inflow is a key factor affecting the flow distribution. The roasting and cooling gases will entirely flow into the roasting zone and internal vertical air channels （IVAC）, respectively, if the ratio of inflow is critical. From such a critical operating condition increasing roasting gas flow or decreasing cooling gas flow, the roasting gas starts flowing downwards so as to enter the inside of IVAC the greater the ratio of inflow, the larger the downward flowrate. Among constructional parameters, the width of roasting zone b1, width of IVAC b2 and width of cooling zone b3, and the height of roasting zone h1, height of soaking zone h2 and height of cooling zone hs are the main factors affecting flow distribution. In case the ratio of b2/b3, or h3/h2, or h1/h2 is increased, the upward cooling gas tends to decrease while the downward roasting gas tends to increase with a gradual decrease in the ratio of inflow.

Climate has been changing in the last fifty years in China and will continue to change regardless any efforts for mitigation. Agriculture is a climate-dependent activity and highly sensitive to climate changes and climate variability. Understanding the interactions between climate change and agricultural production is essential for society stable development of China. The first mission is to fully understand how to predict future climate and link it with agriculture production system. In this paper, recent studies both domestic and international are reviewed in order to provide an overall image of the progress in climate change researches. The methods for climate change scenarios construction are introduced. The pivotal techniques linking crop model and climate models are systematically assessed and climate change impacts on Chinese crops yield among model results are summarized. The study found that simulated productions of grain crop inherit uncertainty from using different climate models, emission scenarios and the crops simulation models. Moreover, studies have different spatial resolutions, and methods for general circulation model （GCM） downscaling which increase the uncertainty for regional impacts assessment. However, the magnitude of change in crop production due to climate change （at 700 ppm CO2 eq correct） appears within ±10% for China in these assessments. In most literatures, the three cereal crop yields showed decline under climate change scenarios and only wheat in some region showed increase. Finally, the paper points out several gaps in current researches which need more studies to shorten the distance for objective recognizing the impacts of climate change on crops. The uncertainty for crop yield projection is associated with climate change scenarios, CO2 fertilization effects and adaptation options. Therefore, more studies on the fields such as free air CO2 enrichment experiment and practical adaptations implemented need to be carried out.

The main requirements for battery separators are high porosity which can serve pathways of lithium ion and space for gel electrolytes to impregnate in a membrane and mechanical strength to allow easy handling for battery assembly. Generally, it appears the trade-off relationship between the porosity and mechanical strength of the membrane. PVdF composite membranes containing nano-size clays were used to improve the mechanical strength of the membrane without affecting the membrane porosity. The composite membranes were prepared by phase inversion method controlling the membrane preparation conditions such as retention time. The resultant membranes show increased mechanical properties with similar membrane porosity around 80 % compared to the pristine PVdF membrane. Incorporation of nonoclay can be considered as an effective method to improve the mechanica! strength in porous membrane supports, especially in a separator.
