Restenosis is a common complication following coronary *** traditional use of seaweeds for health benefits has increasingly been explored,however few studies exist reporting its protective effects on the development of restenosis and gut *** aim of this study was to investigate the potential of seaweed extracts(SE) of Ascophyllum nodosum and Fucus vesiculosus in inhibiting intimal hyperplasia in a rat model of restenosis and its underlying mechanisms in macrophages and vascular smooth muscle cells(vSMCs).16S rRNA sequencing was done to investigate the regulatory effect of SE on the gut microbiome of injured *** indicated by the results,SE significantly inhibited the progression of intimal hyperplasia in vivo,attenuated inflammation in macrophages and could inhibit the proliferation,dedifferentiation and migration of *** was observed through immunoblotting assays that treatment with SE significantly upregulated PTEN expression in macrophages and inhibited the upregulation of PI3K and AKT expression in ***,according to the 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis,supplementation with SE modulated gut microbiota composition in injured *** conclusion,SE could ameliorate intimal hyperplasia by inhibiting inflammation and vSMCs proliferation through the regulation of the PTEN/PI3K/AKT pathway and modulating the gut microbiome.

High-performance Bi_(2)S_(3)/ZnO photoanode enabled by interfacial engineering with oxyanion for efficient photoelectrochemical water oxidation

In the present contribution,we demonstrate that the sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)over the bismuth sulfide(Bi_(2)S_(3))photoanode,which severely restricts its photoelectrochemical activity,is markedly accelerated by employing a sulfatecontaining ***-principle calculation points to the spontaneous adsorption of sulfate(SO_(4)^(2−))on Bi_(2)S_(3)and its capacity of stabilizing the OER intermediates through hydrogen bonding,which is further reinforced by increasing the local density of states near the Fermi level of Bi_(2)S_(3).Meanwhile,the electron transfer is also promoted to synergistically render the ratedetermining step(from O*to OOH*)of OER over Bi_(2)S_(3)kinetically *** but not least,benefitting from such enhanced OER activity and efficient charge separation resulted from depositing Bi_(2)S_(3)on the zinc oxide nanorods(ZnO NRs),forming a core–shell heterojunction,its photocurrent density achieves 8.61 mA·cm^(−2)at 1.23 VRHE,far surpassing those reported for additional Bi_(2)S_(3)-based and several state-of-the-art photoanodes in the literature and further exceeding their theoretical *** great promise of the Bi_(2)S_(3)/ZnO NRs is in view of such outperformance,the superior Faradaic yield of oxygen of more than~80%and the outstanding half-cell applied bias photon-to-current efficiency of~1%well corroborated.

High glucose reduces Nrf2-dependent cRAGE release and enhances inflammasome-dependent IL-1βproduction in monocytes:the modulatory effects of EGCG

Radiotherapy enhances efficacy of PD-1 inhibitors in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma:A propensity-matched real-world study

Background:To address the need for immunotherapy in patients with advanced primary hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),combination with radiotherapy(RT)has emerged as a promising *** preclinical studies,irradiated tumors released tumor antigens to synergistically increase the antitumor effect of ***,we investigated whether RT enhances the efficacy of anti-programmed death receptor-1(PD-1)inhibitors in advanced HCC in real-world ***:Between August 2018 and June 2021,172 patients with advanced primary HCC were enrolled in the tertiary center(Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University);95 were treated with a combination of RT and the inhibitor of PD-1(RT-PD1 cohort),and 77 were administered anti-PD-1 therapy(PD1 cohort).The first cycle of PD-1 inhibitors was administered within 60 days or concurrently with *** score matching for bias reduction was used to evaluate the clinical ***:Among 71 propensity-matched pairs,median progression-free survival was 5.7 months in the RT-PD1 cohort vs.2.9 months in the PD1 cohort(P<0.001).Median overall survival was 20.9 months in the RT-PD1 cohort vs.11.2 months in the PD1 cohort(P=0.018).Compared with patients in the PD1 cohort,patients in the RT-PD1 cohort had significantly higher objective response rates(40.8%,29/71 vs.19.7%,14/71,P=0.006)and disease control rates(62.0%,44/71 vs.31.0%,22/71,P<0.001).The incidences of toxic effects were not significantly different between the two ***:RT plus anti-PD-1 therapy is well *** enhances the efficacy of anti-PD-1 therapy in patients with advanced primary HCC by improving survival outcomes without increased toxic effects.

A robust vector tracking loop structure based on potential bias analysis

This paper proposes a robust vector tracking loop structure based on potential bias analysis. The influence of four kinds of biases on the existing two implementations of Vector Tracking Loops(VTLs) is illustrated by theoretical analysis and numerical simulations, and the following findings are obtained. Firstly, the initial user state bias leads to steady navigation solution bias in the relative VTL, while new measurements can eliminate it in the absolute VTL. Secondly, the initial code phase bias is transferred to the following navigation solutions in the relative VTL, while new measurements can eliminate it in the absolute VTL. Thirdly, the user state bias induced by erroneous navigation solution of VTLs can be eliminated by both of the two VTLs. Fourthly,the multipath/NLOS likely affects the two VTLs, and the induced tracking bias in the duration of the multipath/NLOS would decrease the performance of VTLs. Based on the above analysis,a robust VTL structure is proposed, where the absolute VTL is selected for its robustness to the two kinds of initialization biases;meanwhile, the instant bias detection and correction method is used to improve the performance of VTLs in the duration of the multipath/NLOS. Numerical simulations and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed robust VTL structure.

Understanding pediatric surgical needs in North Korea: a modeling analysis

Increased vitamin D is associated with decline of naive, but accumulation of effector, CD8 T cells during early aging

Given the protective roles of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D or vitamin D) in musculoskeletal health and the potential beneficial effects of vitamin D supplementation in reducing the risk of various chronic diseases, intensive repletion of vitamin D has been widely advocated. Of note, CD8 T cells have the highest levels of the vitamin D receptor compared with other major immune cells. The effects of vitamin D on CD8 T cells during aging, however, remain unclear. This study determined the relationship between vitamin D levels and CD8 T cell status in 34 healthy female subjects (all >60 years old). The CD8 T-cell phenotype was defined by the surface expression of CD28 and CD95. The low-25(OH)D serum groups (≤30 ng/ml) had higher percentages of CD28+CD95–CD8+ (na?ve) T cells and lower percentages of CD28+CD95+CD8+ (effector) T cells. By contrast, subjects with high levels of 25(OH)D had very low percentages of na?ve CD8 T cells but very high percentages of effector CD8 T cells. There was a significant inverse correlation between 25(OH)D levels and the frequency of na?ve CD8 T cells. The results show that higher levels of vitamin D are correlated with decreased frequencies of na?ve CD8 T cells during early aging, suggesting that higher levels of 25(OH)D accelerate CD8 T cell senescence. These results warrant further evaluation of the effects of vitamin D supplementation in immune aging.

AIM: A high percentage of early-stage high-grade gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphomas remain Helicobacter pylori(H pylori)-dependent. However,unlike their low-grade counterparts, high-grade gastric MALT lymphomas may progress rapidly if unresponsive to H pylori eradication. It is mandatory to identify markers that may predict the H pylori-dependent status of these tumors. Proliferation of MALT lymphoma cells depends on cognate help and cell-to-cell contact of H pylori-specific intratumoral T-cells. To examine whether the expression of co-stimulatory marker CD86 (B7.2) and the infiltration of CD56 (+) natural killer (NK) cells can be useful markers to predict Hpylori-dependent status of high-grade gastric MALT ***: Lymphoma biopsies from 26 patients who had participated in a prospective study of H pylori-eradication for stage IE high-grade gastric MALT lymphomas were evaluated. Tumors that resolved to Wotherspoon grade Ⅱ or less after H pylorieradication were classified as H pyloridependent; others were classified as H *** infiltration of NK cells and the expression of CD86 in pre-treatment paraffin-embedded lymphoma tissues were determined by ***: There were 16 H pylori-dependent and 10H pylori-independent cases. CD86 expression was detected in 11 (68.8%) of 16 Hpyiori-dependent cases but in none of 10 Hpylori-independent cases (P = 0.001).H pylori-dependent high-grade gastric MALT lymphomas contained significantly higher numbers of CD56 (+) NK cells than H pylori-independent cases (2.8±1.4% vs 1.1±0.8%; P = 0.003). CD86 positive MALT lymphomas also showed significantly increased infiltration of CD56 (+)NK cells compared to CD86-negative cases (2.9±1.1% vs1.4±1.3%; P= 0.005).CONCLUSION: These results suggest that the expression of co-stimulatory marker CD86 and the increased infiltration of NK cells are associated with H pylori-dependent state of early-stage high-grade gastric MALT lympho
